I agree, I think that was the best TV performance they’ve done. Brilliant! What songs did they sing? The mash-up of Ex-Wives and Six that they did at the Oliviers.

Does anyone know of any good offers for this? It always surprises me at how shows at this theatre sell so few tickets and manage to plod along. The last few shows there were papered for their entire runs, but haven't seen the same being done for this show. Most seats are available for either £23 or £25 (reduced from £40) across the majority of performances (excluding Saturdays and the final Friday) with Theatre Tickets Direct.

So glad I returned tickets for Sweet Charity to see this at its second preview though equally disappointed I won't get to see it for a second time on 22nd June.
The occasional hit like Titanic aside, all too often it feels like whatever is being staged at the Charing Cross Theatre proves a very hard sell with the public, yet stage a professional production of a musical at somewhere like Southwark Playhouse and the demand seems to be there.
It's a real shame for a venue that's come a long way since WAG and Dusty. The likes of Death Takes a Holiday, The Woman in White and now Amour all deserved greater success than they seemed to enjoy. Evidently even the great reviews for Amour haven't made much difference. I hope the creative team keep the faith!

Transfers from the Brockley Jack to the Charing Cross Theatre where it will run from 15th August to 5th October. Michael John LaChiusa's musical is based on the true story of Anna Edson Taylor, who in 1901 on her 63rd birthday set out to be the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in a barrel of her own design. The cast has been announced as Trudi Camilleri as Anna Edson Taylor, with Will Arundell, Emily Juler, Emma Ralston, Tom Blackmore, Conor McFarlane and Andrew Carter. More info on WhatsOnStage.

Seems like this is touring again in the autumn, with two venues announced so far:
6th-21st September - Birmingham REP 15th-19th October - The Lowry

Hearing that there's no panto at the Palladium this year. Don't Cha Wish Your Waitress Was Dawn Like Me - An Evening With Ashley Roberts runs in its place. She's had enough of her shift at the Adelphi.

Wow, what great exposure for the show that will be. The Oliviers routine again, please!

The plot thickens. Surely it isn't true that Laura will understudy Ashley?
The Waitress social media team also just tweeted asking fans to "send love to your favourite waiter or waitress". No prizes for guessing who is getting mentioned in most of the replies. Here's a clue: they've just fired/demoted her for the summer. You really couldn't make it up.

She hardly got the warmest reception on Strictly (despite being amazing). And none of this is her fault! That's the thing that surprises me most about this. If the show is relying on Ashley Roberts to save it, they might as well pull the shutters down now. She struggled to get the public behind her on Strictly and wouldn't have got anywhere near the final without being repeatedly saved by the judges, despite being arguably the best dancer in the competition. It's hardly like the producers have signed up Ariana Grande for a couple of months and the public will be queueing round the block. I just don't see this making much of a difference. Laura seems to be paying the price of the producers' own mistakes in their marketing and pricing of the show, not to mention their choice of theatre in the first place.

This is a PR disaster on social media as fans of the show realise how Laura's been treated and that this wasn't her choice. She deserves such a good send-off on 15th June.

3,376 shows now on sale and more to come on 5th June. Could it be the first time the number of shows breaks the 4,000 barrier?!

If the rumours about Ashley joining Waitress are true then unless Laura has chosen to leave (which seems unlikely just a few months in) then it would be a really shoddy way to treat a leading member of the cast who has received great reviews and is a perfect fit for the role.
I would love to see Lucie as Jenna but I wouldn't give the producers another penny if Laura ends up being turfed out to make way for Ashley.

Thought she was unreal in Fun Home. Will gladly see her in this. When does this go on sale? Tomorrow at 9am Isn't it phone bookings that start at 9am with online sales from midnight as usual for the Menier?

At least in Liverpool they've gone for the Playhouse and not the Empire.
For Manchester/Salford, the Quays Theatre at The Lowry would have been a better choice than the Opera House.

The company's efforts from an accessibility perspective seem worthy of credit. Elements of British Sign Language are integrated with the choreography. Audio description is available for all performances, while certain performances are fully signed. Relaxed performances are also available.

I'd booked to see this in Blackpool last week having seen Metta Theatre's previous production, a circus show loosely themed around The Little Mermaid, at The Lowry in 2018.
Sadly, however, the Tuesday and Wednesday evening performances were both cancelled at the Grand Theatre (although the Wednesday matinee went ahead) a couple of weeks in advance and I couldn't re-book for later in the week due to being in London so had to get a refund.
In The Willows seems to have been getting rave reviews so it's a shame to hear it's not selling better elsewhere on tour.

So after 25 mins some music started to play and hippies walked up the side of the stalls and onto the stage standing in a line. Then another hippy came on from the wings and told everyone to leave the stage. Disgraceful behaviour from the audience members concerned.

Loved every minute of this tonight. This isn't an in-house Ovation production from Upstairs at the Gatehouse but it's every bit as good.
Two hours of 50s and 60s hits delivered with sensational vocals, stunning four-part harmonies and a whole lot of humour. The cast are utterly sublime. Both in between and during the songs, the show is frequently laugh-out-loud funny. The whole thing is just so darn fun!
There's a lot of audience interaction so unless you want to be directly serenaded with I Only Want To Be With You or berated with You Don't Own Me then the front row of the centre block (and particularly the extreme ends of it) are seats to take with caution!
The show has a week to go at Upstairs at the Gatehouse and will then transfer to the Theatre Royal, Windsor. I'd love to see it again.
Four and a half stars.
