It's certainly causing a lot of drama in the fanbase that is for sure. Fascinating to watch.

A 70s version just announced.... THEATRE / News Rip It Up the 70s to tour the UK later this year Register now for early tickets. Tom Stafford / MON 3 JUNE Find tickets here Having delved into the 1950s and 1960s, Rip It Up the 70s is set to take on the iconic decade that spawned disco, glam rock and so much more. The brand new show tours throughout the UK this September, October and into November. The new show will star Strictly Come Dancing champion Louis Smith MBE, Strictly finalist Rachel Stevens and The Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton. The new show will feature the trio of stars singing and dancing to some of the biggest classics from the decade. More casting to be announced soon. From David Bowie to Marc Bolan, through disco, soul and unmistakably huge pop anthems, the 1970s saw the likes of Eagles release Hotel California, the Bee Gees drop the genre-defining Saturday Night Fever and the boss himself – Bruce Springsteen – unveil Born to Run. Elsewhere, the hugely influential songwriter and performer Carole King released Tapestry, Fleetwood Mac unleashed Rumours into the world, while iconic pop outfit and the arguable launch of boybands The Beatles dropped Let It Be as their frontman John Lennon revealed the stunning Imagine. If that wasn’t enough, the 1970s were responsible for the rise of Queen, Elton John, The Carpenters, Mavin Gaye, and Barry White, as Led Zeppelin climbed their Stairway to Heaven and Pink Floyd explored The Dark Side of the Moon. With a new cast, a new show and – of course – a new decade, Rip It Up the 70s is set to tour across the UK later this year. The announcement follows the success of Rip It Up the 50s and 60s, the latter starring Harry Judd, Jay McGuiness, Aston Merrygold and Louis Smith, which sold over 100,000 tickets across the UK and enjoyed a four month sell-out run at the Garrick Theatre, London. I think people are getting slightly hysterical about the whole thing. They are in rehearsals now. I'm sure it will be fine and paying audiences will go home happy. If not I look forward to hundreds of pages of "I told you so".

It wouldn't surprise me at all if she had been directed to play "herself" and narrate the story that way.

At a lot of these sort of events they print "people around you may stand" on the tickets.

Wow! Actually, I disagree! I watched Funny Girl several times and found her performances pretty damn wonderful to be honest. From the reviews of others I was far from being the only one who thought that.
Yes, her and Jason may not be the best singers in the world. They never have been and I doubt they have ever claimed to be. Why people suddenly expect them to be absolutely wonderful singers all of a sudden I am unsure. They are what they are and the casting directors would have been fully aware of their capabilities when they were cast.
I am no expert on every Joseph production since the beginning of time like some of you but the many tour versions I have seen recently have been very like a panto. Ten performances a week, three a day back to back. It's hardly high brow entertainment. A singing Elvis? Come on.
I'll be booking. There may be off key notes, there may be this there may be that but theatre does not always need to be over analysed to every single detail. It is essentially about enjoyment! Sometimes people on here appear to have forgotten that. You pay thousands of pounds on theatre but don't seem to enjoy it very much. You do enjoy constantly looking for all the flaws in it though. The target audience of this show aren't like that. The target audience are normal people, not the likes of us. They'll just go and watch. And enjoy. For that, I envy them.

I loved the energy of it!
I'm so bored of the cheap staging of the tour that looks straight out of the local Gangshow. So ready for something new.

How many times do I have to say that Laura is leaving at cast change!? She's also been auditioning for other shows (french ones in particular). She will not be promoted. However I suspect she will return within the next 5 years as lead Elphaba maybe! Bien que c'est embarrassant!

I thought they'd be at least a hundred pages discussing the news by now.
How things change!

Yes they do. Like thinking Sheridan Smith will be amazing in it. Or, indeed, like thinking that she won't be...

It's just if you've got two musicals that came into being at a similar sort of time and they're both largely influenced by the popular music of the day then it's a helluva stretch to cite conspiracy or rip-off when you perceive similarities, rather than just realising that similarities are going to happen in these cases. I apologise for using the term “rip-off”. Just sounded immensely similar. Didn’t mean any harm Was just voicing an opinion. I also got a Hamilton-vibe from some of the performance! That is certainly not a criticism, just an observation.

As someone who has seen the tour several times I am overjoyed that it seems to be having a bit of an overhaul. Some performances I saw really were not great

I'm personally not a Lion King fan but how many musicals in the West End are great to take young children to? There's not that many.

Idina Menzel and Helen Dallimore are returning. My credible source told me. Idina isn't returning, you need to let it go.

Can you no longer do the Corrie tour? I know the set has moved but it was still open for visits not that long ago?
I'd also recommend the Emmerdale studio experience in Leeds. It's in a recreation set built especially, which obviously isn't the same but it's all tour guide led and explains how they do the filming, special effects etc. I don't really watch the show (!) buy found it very interesting. You can look around the actual set they use for the outside village bits too.

BGT is about ratings, they couldn't care less about the guy playing Joseph.

I watched Aladdin today and got a lovely surprise when I saw Marisha in it. I didn't realise she made an appearance.
