Oh my god, what have they done to this show?
This rewrite is abysmal. A show I loved has been ruined.

How well is Dolly selling? Could it/might it move to Drury Lane after its stint at the Palladium?

I noticed Bernadette had her knee strapped up so I suspect that might be why she no longer does the kick line.

I have just received a questionnaire from ATG asking how likely it would be that I would attend Groundhog Day if it came to my local theatre.
They must be considering a tour.

I saw this on Friday in Edinburgh. This was a case of the cast being far better than the material they were asked to deliver. A ballad heavy show with little character development. The songs are unmemorable and the Act One finale fails to build to a climax. The whole thing felt like a watered down Hamilton.

There seem to have been many sold out, critically acclaimed productions at the Donmar that never got a London transfer. Parade comes to mind.
I really do hope this gets a transfer and I imagine the Olivier Awards will help its case.

Has anyone else had issues ordering from Dress Circle recently?
I pre-ordered 4 albums back in June. Three are now showing in stock and the other as coming soon, even though other retailers seem to have it in stock.
I have had no updates on my order. No replies to emails. Tried phoning but it just rings out.

I saw the show on Tuesday evening and adored this production.
La Cage is my favourite show. I saw the Menier/Playhouse production several times.
This production is more high camp drag in a run down, end of the pier drag club though the characters would believe they are in glamorous St. Tropez. The wide open stage allows for a glimpse into “the wings” of the drag show.
Les Cagelles returned represent every shape and size and move beautifully together in toule gowns and wigs straight out of Dolly Parton’s 70’s collection.
Albin is a cross between Dick Emery and Jodi Prenger. He nails the extravagance and the vulnerability in all the correct places. ‘I Am What I Am’ received a well deserved standing ovation and ‘The Best Of Times’ was pure joy. The line “what’s left of summer but a faded rose” got a laugh as the rain had just started but did not hamper the performance.
Georges is a wonderful counter to Albin. His vocals are gorgeous.
Great supporting performances all round. Minor quibble was Jacob struggled to pitch during Cocktail Counterpoint.
I really hope to see this again before the end of its run and wish for a well deserved transfer.

Looks like this has been filmed for some sort of future release.

I saw this at Charing Cross and also on tour. It is the best singing I have heard in any touring show. The ensemble numbers are spine tingling.
I think it works well with minimalist set and helps focus the show on the characters and their stories.

She also played Madame Armfeldt in Trevor Nunn’s production of ‘A Little Night Music’.

I have just caught up with last night’s Corrie. There was an incredible scene between her and Claire Sweeney.
It made think that Maureen Lipman would have been an incredible Mama Rose in Gypsy.

I couldn’t find a thread for this.
Saw this in Glasgow this afternoon. I had seen the show during it’s west end run with Matt Cardle and, while not perfect, was enjoyable, funny and moving in some places.
This version on tour was a disappointment in comparison. It is less juke box with only Time After Time, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Love Is In The Air remaining. Original songs have been added and are dismal and forgettable.
The only saving grace were the two leads Kevin Clifton and Faye Brooks who try to bring some sparkle to an otherwise dull show.

I would love to see the international tour of the original Hal Prince production make an appearance over here.

Did I read correctly, that a song from the movie has now been added or was that just speculation?

Anyone know if the last performance of Come From Away is sold out or still to go on sale?
They seem to have disappeared from the website as soon as the closing date was announced.

Lesley Garrett has a connection with My Fair Lady. She played Eliza when she was at school. She was due to play the role for Scottish Opera in the late 80’s/90’s but was forced to pull out following a car accident. She was devastated not to play the role again.

Is this tour in danger of being pulled? Still no word on casting and there seems to be a very big gap in dates between the last two venues.

This evening I had the absolute joy and pleasure of seeing Scottish Opera’s new immersive production of Candide.
It is the first time I have seen this piece and was blown away by the production and the music is divine.
If you happen to be in Glasgow this month then this is a must see.

Has Jennifer’s pitching improved any? She really struggled the night I saw it in Manchester. Although, to be fair, it was the first performance.

I wonder if they’ll ever make a film of the musical. Could go a bomb with the right star casting. I seem to remember Beyoncé’s name attached t a movie version of the musical shortly after it opened but it never happened. Jennifer Hudson would be a brilliant Deloris.

I saw the show on its opening performance. Sandra Marvin is sensational. The cast really make the roles their own.
Jennifer Saunders plays Mother Superior with much more comedy than I have seen anyone do previous. She did really struggle to pitch her songs correctly. Hoping this improves as she grows used to singing with an orchestra.
Poor Keala Settle is so underused. I really hope she gets a major lead in something in the near future.
Clive Rose and Lizzie Bea are wonderful.

Last night Ruthie mentioned being asked to do “A Star Is Born”. Was this supposed to be a stage adaptation of the Judy Garland version? Why didn’t it happen?

Saw today’s matinee and absolutely adored this production. The cast is excellent and this is the best thing I have seen Nickolai Foster direct. Some nice moments that I have not seen in previous versions.
Can’t wait for this to come to Edinburgh next year.
I also want a production of ‘South Pacific’ with Clare Halse as Nellie and Danny Max as Cable.

Saw this tonight and trying to compare this with the original production that I saw.
Am I right in thinking that in the original Mary flew up higher in the final flight? I seem to remember Laura Michele Kelly going right up to the ceiling?
I enjoyed this production but it did seem to be the touring version with a few extra special effects thrown in.

There is a recording of a German production (Frankfurt I think) but sung in English that is very good. Craig Mather is on it. It also includes the introduction to ‘Purple Summer’ that was omitted from the OBCR.
