Saw this on Saturday. The accents weren't as bad as were suggested above, but the stupidity of the characters was. It would be one thing watching a play about intelligent working class men and women discussing and being affected by a national uprising, it's quite another to have to watch half a dozen idiots wittering on about the same thing. Didn't find it funny or interesting or moving. I got more fun slating the production to the random person sitting next to me at the interval and after than in watching the thing. Glad I paid £5 only. 2 stars, largely for the production design.

These kind of awards terrify me after a particularly harrowing and life-scarring experience at school. If I may be so bold, may I suggest we keep these awards to purely positive categories?! Now even the Internet is having popularity contests, IS NOWHERE SAFE???

I moved to London after university specifically to go to the theatre, so I'd be doing myself a disservice (particularly with these living expenses...) if I didn't go often. The main problem with working in a hospital is the irregularly long hours and preponderance of nights and weekends.
BUT I've just done a calculation on my time since moving here, and I've seen a production of something every 10.7 days on average. My average ticket price is around £25 as well, which I think is pretty good.

Are there still day seats being sold for this? I've not seen anything go up online before the shows, has anyone had any luck at the box office?

A recent one I've enjoyed is "Congratulations" cut from Hamilton.

After a bad experience with Harry Potter and then with Ticketmaster and the Billy Elliot tour I'm inclined to agree that box office is best. It also has the added benefit that you can't lose your ticket.

So the act 2 opening number has been the song that's probably most discussed by those who have seen GHD. I was really taken with how unexpected it was and how unusually it sits within the show. With the aid of a friend who's quite familiar with the production, we've pieced together the song as best we can (without any solid source material). He chickened out, so for anyone who's interested, find below a very mediocre performance of 'Playing Nancy'.

I saw Parts One and Two yesterday in Row F of the stalls. Great seats, although could see some of the 'magic' being performed as even row F was quite close. I imagine would be fantastic from the Dress Circle. Thought whole cast did a fantastic job. They potentially should have invested in another actor to play Dumbledore as the actor's distinctive voice makes his characters all sound rather same-y. This does seem to be one of the few shows were being closer is not necessarily better. I nearly always aim for front stalls when I can grab good deals for them, I like the intimacy with the action and ability to really see the actors faces clearly. But for this you can allow yourself to be more easily fooled by good dress circle seats like you say. The only issue is most people don't really choose their seats, the seats are more chosen for them. At least my 2021 return to cursed child will be well informed for seat choices.

Speaking of bad behaviour, imagine the horror of being personally named and shamed if any of us commits a theatre faux-pas. I'll be on my best behaviour from now on.

I do. I really like Phil Connors (yes, seriously). I can't see why anyone couldn't like him. Because the character basically uses every day he is given to try and get Rita into bed? For me despite this mildly lecherous motive he manages to pull it off anyway, and by the end I think that it's disingenuous to say that that's what the character was doing in the last cycle. He's moved on, grown up a bit, and fallen in love with her, which let's the bizarre curse end for whatever reason.

For a weekday performance (Mon-Wed), what time is best to arrive, and is there a significant difference in queue lengths between Sheridan and Natasha. Also, are the seats in a set location? We arrived at 9 and were fourth in the queue on a weekday. For a Sheridan performance.

(Desperately wondering which club you mean?) Not that it's related to this thread or production at all, but I would just say that the first rule of comp club would be that you don't talk about comp club.

To be fair to him, it is really difficult to fill a 312 seat theatre on a Saturday during the summer holiday using over sixty percent discounted tickets and with a healthy boost from a certain club we don't name. Credit where it's due.
And actually now I think about it that credit would be with the box office staff.

Wow.
Just wow.
Absolutely brilliant. The highlight of the Nationals season so far. And they didn't even create it. Great script, well directed and some really amazing talent in the cast. A Friday Rush ticket well spent.

Was she actually house staff? They do this on Broadway often; it's easy to ignore a PA announcement (look how quickly you do so at an airport, for instance), but having an actual person yelling in your vicinity is more memorable and noticeable. House staff thankfully. I don't know if I'd have been happy had a punter shouted at others for taking photos of an empty set. The dancing usher is the sort of thing I'd find a little bit cringey but if it's genuine excitement I wouldn't be too annoyed. That said, as TM reminds us, they're not being paid to dance but to patrol the house.

I love the idea of night tube, and hope it serves people well, but at the moment 'Night Suburban Mainline Rail Services' would be more welcome for people who live in my neck of the woods. One step at a time!

Whilst I'm 100% up for a theatreboard meetup, the odds of us all agreeing on one show to go to is almost 0. And even if we agree on the show, do we go on a normal night or do we have to wait for the understudy...?

I do hope you tap these people and tell them to stop...I do!! Im far too nice sadly... You get an exhilarating rush of vigilanteism. Time slows down as they look at you, you're wondering if they'll back down or double up. You've never felt so alive. Then usually they shut up. Related, at American Idiot last night a surly young lady stood in the aisle towards he front of the stalls and loudly shouted that no photography was allowed for copyright reasons. I didn't see anyone taking any pictures, I just think she likes shouting. Would've been a lot more elegant if this had been done over the PA system.

Gaybaiting... Who'd have thought Harry Potter would become be accused by the guardian of gaybaiting. Its really interesting to see how many people have picked up on a brewing homosexual romance between the two characters. My friend who'd only read the script said that it was really noticeable from there. Clearly I was being a bit obtuse in not thinking about it when I saw the play. Although in my defence I suppose that I would never have considered them making the two central characters having a gay romance the centre of such a high profile mainstream show. Now I keep thinking how absolutely amazing it would've been if that's what they'd done.
I suppose there's always Cursed Child part 3.

This will surely get a West End transfer anyway? Eventually it will, but it's been so up in the air for so long as to exactly what this show is going to do. There are theatres available, I suppose the delay would be from the producers focusing on Broadway as per the original roadmap for the show, and only if that completely stalls would they be likely to regroup for a west end transfer.

I've taken up the challenge. The swans are gone. 2 people have been kind enough to message me over the past year when we've been going to the same show, and both times it was a lovely experience.

Against my better judgment I grabbed the rush tickets on todaytix to see this. I thought to myself "but it's a jukebox musical Andrew, you know you don't like those". I reasoned with myself that I was 13 when American idiot (the album) was released, I was a huge fan of it, I know all the songs. This is designed for me. And it'll be fun, I thought.
It'll be fun, I thought.
I have never been more bored in a musical. I have never felt more angry at paying money to see a musical. I have never been more disappointed in theatre in general, for letting someone write such little and incoherent and unoriginal and completely predictable story. I have never before watched moving lights with such relative interest. I have never spent my time during a production considering, slowly, what other things you could put on to great effect in this venue. I have never been more unsurprised when a total of 13 people walked out SIMULTANEOUSLY around 60 minutes in. And I've never been more frustrated that my own internal rules prevented me from following them out.
I hated this. Even Cats is better. And I really hate Cats.
May it disappear and never return.

No £30 seats so far today... If they do appear, I think it's more around 3pm/4pm maybe later - so do check back if you were looking to buy! But, as dippy, I'm also very glad I picked up a £30 ticket for my 2nd trip (also last night!) in case they do disappear! Ah I see, I was looking at the matinee anyway. Remaining seats now have dropped to £40 or less but there's not many available anyway.

My longest was for Harry Potter of around 10 months. No regrets at all. My problem is my rotas come in 4 month blocks and I don't often get it until a few weeks before the block starts, so I tend to fill up the block as soon as I get it with stuff I know I want to see, and then supplement it with last minute tickets to things you guys recommend.

Disfigured as he was is fine. According to the books, he got less human-looking the more Horcruxes he made, and Harry was the last one. It was splitting his soul that ruined his looks, not nearly dying. Ah, that makes sense. I kind of wish the prosthetics of the appearance were a bit better though. I thought they were pretty good from mid stalls, you can't exactly remove his nose on the stage as they did with CG in the films

A couple of things. Ethan Le Phong was on as Aladdin, and did a great job. But his microphone REALLY needs to be turned up. Couldn't hear him at all at times during some of the songs. Out of interest where were you sitting? I felt that Aladdin (the principle) was quiet when I saw it, but also that some other characters were on the quiet end as well, although not as bad as Al. I was in the front row though so I put that down to the lack of speakers on the edge of the stage and therefore the orchestra overpowering the actors.
