Nobody would say we shouldn’t discuss the real life of Eva Peron in the Evita thread. It’s completely on topic, as it is to discuss Michael Jackson’s “weirdness” here. Im not disagreeing with you, i guess folk comment on MJ because he is in our recent memories?

I liked the performances but I didn't feel anything. Prior to watching it i knew nothing about it, as the story unfolded I thought I should be feeling something as both my sister and partner have died but no.

... and when I was a student in Brum in the 1990's WNO did three seasons a year which equated to 9 different operas, an awful lot of Barber and Boheme's though. But i was lucky to have experienced it, we also had Rattle, The CBSO & City of Birmingham Touring Opera

A trip to Leeds to see Cosi fan tutte I envy you. I'd really like to see the production again & the cast looks great but there are no matinees & I can't afford trains plus an overnight stay. ON are getting better at programming matinées but they really need to try harder. i often compalain to them about it - they love me! Regarding the production it was excellent one of the best Cosi's ive seen. Its such a shame they dont want to share it with an afternoon crowd.

It still says victorian in the description, but I'd actually be more interested in a ww2 set Oliver I'm afraid I disagree. The CFT production of Sweeney Todd moved the action from Victorian times to WW2 and I felt it didn't add anything. I don't think it was the WW2 setting that failed that production. The casting was terrible, chorus looked bored, Staunton treated it like Ibsen and then Michael Ball played himself

I wonder if the rep system is a way of saving money by using one set? I can't see a designer listed though. Times are hard even in N1

I liked thia on the stream and im tempted to revisit. Does it have a band or is it just keys ? Please and thanks From what I could see, there were 3 musicians behind the screen - keys, cello and acoustic guitar. Hope this helps! Thanks, that's great

Possibly pulling the funding plug on one theatre and yet building a new one next door.
I know its different funding pots buts it crazy, just like health and social care funding. This country really does pish me off. Rant over - i hope the show is fab

Well this was a disapointment.
Who placed the bar at the bottom of the stairs? Didnt they think this would cause a blockage? Would the odd space between the bar area and toilet corridor be a better place for the bar?
Tiny and uncomfortable theatre seats. The view from row H meant we couldnt see the stage floor and then if an actor sat down then we missed most of the scene.
Id be interested in seeing the auditorium with a raised stage or in a different configuration but bad design and a terrible opening play is not inspiring me to return.
Over the years ive really liked my trips to KH, i hope the negatives can be turned around.

Can we all agree that the touch is Marmite with a capital M!? Shame all this negativity can't be used in a positive like ending famine or similar ...

Oklahoma, Best of enemies and Salesman - I'm sure would of all hit the West End without the young vics intervention. Just look at the names attached? Looking at some of the dregs currently playing in the westend is a transfer a sign of quality ? Not really but it's good for the coffers

I can see Norris in some advisory or accademic role talking about inclusion and boundaries
He certainly wont make his name in lyric writing.

Looking at those stats it appears comparable with the ehtnic minoirty population stats for Lambeth and Southwark. How much of the theatres programming appealed to the community though ?

Longish gap between Overtures closing and Sail's opening. Hopefully they'll use the time to make the FOH space more appealing

How lovley and sweet to read. I have fond memories of Sooty at the Hull new theatre circa 1980 and the set was the deck of a ship - i loved it. Positive early years theatre experiences are so important for us.

The book has had various rewrites over the years. I thought the version at Chichester worked quite well, with Mack often breaking the 4th wall to reflect on his life and regret his actions.
I do think Hit em on the head just does not work though, by that time of the evening i just want the tragedy to take centre stage - Grave digger in Hamlet springs to mind. Cut!

This was a long night in the theatre. The music reminded me just how good the original film score is. Allie Dart was really good.
Some funny lines but we couldnt hear all of them due to poor sound issues. Some times the swear word was the funny line, very poor and lazy writing.
A meh night of theatre.

Paul Nicholas as the Major : 🥴 I’ll pass on this one, the whole thing sounds dreadful 🤦♂️ I was interested until i saw that bit of casting. Les Denis will play that part on the inevitable tour ...
