I thought the series was really well done. It held my interest from beginning to end, and it was good to see the characters 'fleshed out' a bit. Good acting performances all round and they managed to fit a lot in without making it feel overblown.

Surely it's more likely to be a concert project (all of that group do a fair number of those) or some kind of small scale musical, the odds of them all being cast in the same 'big musical' are fairly slim after all. Also yes, Ramin is contracted to Holby, he's the 'New Doctor' or whatever so not just a brief guest star I assume (dunno someone who watches it might enlighten us?!) Ramin started filming a couple of weeks ago, I believe. His character is a new surgeon. No word on length of contract, so he could be a 'regular' or he could be on a shorter term contract for a 'guest stint', though the announcement of his casting did make it sound like the former.

I just googled Ms Ryan Ryder aka Craig Chalmers. Boy did I get an eye full...his wife is one luck lady I am very confused. 'Craig Chalmers' gives me a scary rugby bloke, and then someone who was on ADWD but looks like Michael Fabricant. HELP. Craig before the 'Adult Entertainment' years. Craig on ADWDCraig singing Close Every Door on ADWDI loved the exit song on ADWD - the stripping of the coat was hilarious!

Yes, tonight's ep was a good one. JVJ was mightily impressive kicking some serious backside, Cosette was sweet but also seemed to have a bit of a spark about her (which I liked) and Javert is really coming into his own now. I'm a bit disappointed with Marius - he's a bit of a wet lettuce. The 'Primary Tenant' lady amuses me - she was old when Cosette was a baby, yet she's still there, so she must be ancient by this point!

Apart from the Gemma Collins nonsense, it was an enjoyable show. Saara was great!
Gemma really is a lazy, entitled, deluded waste of space! Jason can overstep the mark at times, but he was bang on the money about her!

So Valjean decides to go 'northern' for a couple of scenes - for no apparent reason... Right... I am rather bored by it all now. The story is a lot more than just Javert brooding and searching. A lot. This is not a great adaptation. It really isn't I've never read the book, so I have no idea about anything beyond the plot of the musical (and musical film adaptation). Judging this TV adaptation from that, it's good. The pacing seems about right, the story pretty straightforward, but well told thus far. It works as a TV drama. Incidentally, when did Valjean go 'northern'? I'm northern, but I don't recall his accent changing.

I imagine she knows what her 'fate' in the competition is by now as most of it is all pre-recorded. I could be wrong but this to me indicates she hasn't made the lives, which is a shame as she has a terrific voice! Really confusing as she was just talking with Lorraine and said how she was hoping to break into music with JHud by her side. Odd thing to say if she hasn't made the lives. Not really. That's something you often hear in TV talent show contestants' interviews after they've left the show. I wonder if she dropped out after being offered Waitress?

I enjoyed the first ep - though I did find myself mentally slotting the songs in. I thought Dominic West was excellent, as was Derek Jacobi as the bishop. Not sure about Javert - he doesn't seem to have the edge to him that the character needs.

Just finished watching it (thank goodness for catch up TV!). Sound and picture quality were fine.
I now get what some people were getting at re: the gurning and 'mugging'. However, after watching a couple of clips of her on youtube, Fanny Brice was like that. I imagine Sheridan watched those clips and more to get a handle on Fanny's personality. I think the problem is that in FG, Fanny always seems to be in performance mode - even during what should be normal conversations. So there's no contrast between Fanny the performer and Fanny the person. Hence it quickly becomes grating.
I thought Darius was good - an understated performance that worked well in contrast with Sheridan's more 'in your face' one. He is very good looking, so Fanny coming over all unnecessary in his presence worked well and was plausible. I'd forgotten how tall he is - at one point, he walked from one side of the stage to the other, behind a line of people (in the 'mother's party' scene) and you could see him towering over them all!
Overall, a good watch.
Incidentally, the dress Sheridan was wearing in the final scene was strange. Not a dress that screamed 'glamour' to me.

Cannot be Robin Hood there is really no part for Julian to change costumes 4000 times. Of course he could play the Sheriff I guess. There's a 'Spirit Of Sherwood' in Robin Hood - Julian could play that role.

Oh lovely. I've always thought David Hunter was the person you called if you wanted Daniel Boys but with more hair. J'approve. Also Danny is bit busy wearing his best M&S jumper in their ads (But also lol yes) I wondered if that was Daniel in the M&S ad!

I and many others have kicked up about Freedom of Information regarding Strictly results, and the BBC always copy and paste the exact same response "We are not required to release the exact voting figures so therefore do not disclose them." Something along those lines. The BBC never reveal the voting stats for anything. It would have been interesting to see the ones for the Casting Shows (Maria/Joseph/Nancy/Dorothy), but when some people did the FOI thing, they were told the same as above. Very annoying! The XF Voting Stats are out:- XF Voting StatsNow we know why Simon changed the rules for the Final (keeping the three finalists in for both shows, rather than, as originally planned, having an elimination at the end of Saturday's show). It would also explain why Anthony was on during the overlap with Strictly on both nights!

It was a very dull part one to the final Dalton didn't sing well in his duet - but I still expect him to win The XF Final duets often seem to be a bit of a dog's breakfast - lack of rehearsal time, songs that sometimes have parts that are outside the XF Finalist's vocal range (I think both Dalton and Scarlett suffered a bit of this - when Scarlett started singing Angels, I thought she was going to end up either screeching or singing notes so high only dogs would be able to hear) and that weird pause during the song to introduce the duet partner, which breaks the flow of the song! I think Anthony had the easiest job of the three - he just had to keep shouting "Leave the light on!" The group song at the beginning with Robbie W was OK - Gio sounded great. He really should have been in the final with Dalton and Scarlett. The XF final used to be a huge event. My mum used to be an avid viewer, but now even she's stopped watching. It's all a bit low rent, now.

That shows that Abba is best left to the professionals Someone far more musical than me once told me that ABBA songs are notoriously hard to sing. Can’t remember why for the life of me. I remember seeing a documentary about Abba a few years ago on ITV, where Pete Waterman was discussing recording some Abba songs with (I think) Steps. He mentioned that it was only when they started looking at the music (and running through it) to Dancing Queen that they realised how difficult it was to sing - the issue being the vocal range needed.

with some training, it worked for Philip Schofield very well. It's about charm and personality and Joe has that in spades. And he has 6 months to go to the gym! Given the price of tickets to WE shows these days, I would expect whoever is cast as Joseph to be able to sing and act. It would actually be a step back after 2007, to cast someone simply because they're a popstar or soap star or famous for some other reason, without taking into account their singing/acting ability.

E-mail from the Palladium calls it a brand new, reimagined production Maybe in this production, it's Mr Potiphar rather than his wife, who tries to seduce Joseph!

Theres no doubting that the Palladium version was a real blast. They might go pop star for the narrator rather than Joseph. I don’t think that any of 1D would be remotely interested though. Maybe one of Blue or that lad off of Hollyoaks off of the jungle? Tits & teeth, not neccessarily talent. When ALW was casting the 2007 production (via TV), he said he wanted a Joseph who was a cross between Jude Law, Justin Timberlake and a young Michael Jackson! I wonder whether he'd consider going down the TV casting route again? I suspect not, given that last time, instead of the stereotypical blonde, popstar type he wanted (and was definitely pushing for), the public chose a dark haired (though, admittedly, easy on the eye and gym honed) Musical Theatre performer!

Interesting stuff.

Fair enough I suppose. That 'X Factor' performance was brutal and the much hyped comeback single hasn't done as well as expected. They probably though Flack was just a safer bet. That performance was...er...interesting!

Cilla with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra bring released 16th November featuring a duet with Sheridan. I just searched on the tubular website to see if any of the duets were on there (after seeing Cilla's son talking about the album and the duets on Loose Women). All three have been officially uploaded. Sheridan's is Alfie. I thought it sounded great.

So Simon changed the rules to get his two acts onto the tour. I bet he wouldn't have done that for anyone else's acts.
