I wonder if Ruthie has it in her to make her 20th return to the show.

I agree. There hasn't been any locally-grown shows that have been good, for quite some time.
There were a few surprises: Dreamgirls, ENO Sunset Boulevard and Bat Out Hell to name a few.
I do have faith in Southwark Playhouse and Menier Chocolate Factory (although the 2018 program for Southwark Playhouse is so far vey disappointing).

It is NEVER going to happen people. STOP. Bette is on 150,000k a week and also on ten percent. The maths for ticket prices in the West End unless they charge 300 pounds a ticket do not work out. Plus she’s been in it in broadway for a long time. Gig is done. She can do concerts and get a months pay in one night. NEVER HAPPENING. Exactly. There's that, and the stink in this rumor (I honestly don't think it's a rumor as much as someone just pulling this out of their ass) is that you'd need to seriously scale up the production if this were to happen at the Palladium. The Shubert is a much smaller stage and theatre than the huge Palladium. With just over 1400 seats, they'd have to worry about selling additional 800 seats at the Palladium and scale up the sets, re-stage and re-choreography. And while Londoners would like Midler, these star vehicles don't work as much in London as they do in New York (sans shows with Sheridan Smith, go figure).

Agree. A bit odd. So not impressed with Southwark's musicals next year. Between this and Pippin that is already shady and has been done to death (and this version seems to be a knockoff on the recent Broadway revival)..I guess The Rink is slightly more exciting and gives us an opportunity to see a professional production of a show rarely done.

They're contacting the wrong person, then.
I just checked at Tams-Witmark who hold the rights. They're available.
Move along, now..

That's a good amount of songs to remember considering you've seen it once. I'm always impressed by people who can actually remember songs from a show with 19 songs or so, without having heard the score before.

Oh my GOD. This has to happen. But I thought Chenoweth was going to be connected to Soapdish The Musical too, which is equally amazing. She's also doing MAME on Broadway at some point! I'm not sure there's any truth to the Mame rumor. I haven't heard anything about this, and as the collector of receipts, let me just remind you that Act I ends in a plantation, of all places and chorus goes, "make the south great again...Mame". Yeah. That ain't happening without some serious rewrites.

So, I just looked back at my previous #receipts, and hasn't there been an announcement that Chenoweth was also involved a musical adaptation of Soapdish (that was supposed to try out at the Other Palace)..and somehow that fizzled out. emhm.

Somehow viserys and I, like the theatre geeks we are, had coordinated outfits unintentionally that day.

I like the idea of Laura. Sutton is good, but she's a bit of a midwestern gal and doesn't have that touch of glamor that is necessary. Benanti has that and she can do comedy very well. I also like the contrast between the tall and statuesque Benanti vs the tiny and compact Chenoweth.

I've been talking about this with my friend for years now and always thought it'll be a great musical.
Cheno is perfect for this. Especially with all the bad work she's had done on her face.
Would be interested to learn who they are considering for the writing team. Please, anyone but Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman or Alan Manken.
Yorkey & Kitt and David Yazbek are great and can seriously chug out a tune.

I think it depends - I find that most theatres/producers now are relax about patrons taking pictures before the show starts. My Instagram account is basically me holding a ticket or Playbill right in front of my camera with the stage behind it. I only recall Groundhog Day (in London) being very strict about it- otherwise it's been years since I've asked to stop taking a picture BEFORE the show starts.

I don't think it will specifically "need" the Tony - but yes, it would help.
I would disagree that Harry Potter and Frozen are vying the same audience. Just because they have some element of magic, might appeal to children, etc.
The Harry Potter crowd is a LOT more diverse in every single imaginable way: it's not specifically for children or families..the audience I sat with in London were completely adults. It's hardly billed as a family show. I know a few Harry Potter die-hard fans, and they wouldn't be caught dead in a show like Frozen.
Frozen on the other hand is through and through a family show, and more specifically focused on girls.

There's a thread somewhere here that has a basic speculation.
It's also hard to put a full list because the season is still accepting new entrance. Torch Song Trilogy is rumored to open on Broadway, and I think that Hadestown might make a surprise announcement.

The latest Christmas episode was absolutely horrible and anti-funny. I hope they come back with episode in line with the earlier ones they've done this season.

Not exactly a cast recording, but it's one of the greatest/most successful soundtracks ever, by one of the best vocalist of our life. Now that The Bodyguard is a musical, I think it's legit to post about this:
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the iconic film The Bodyguard, Legacy Recordings, is celebrating its legacy with the release of a brand new collection of Whitney Houston live and studio recordings entitled “I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard”. “I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard” is an essential new Whitney Houston collection bringing together a variety of live and studio recordings from The Bodyguard (many previously unreleased or unavailable), including an alternate mix of “I Will Always Love You,” which features a spoken word intro of Whitney as Rachel Marron, an A Capella version of “Jesus Loves Me,” which has never been heard before and a live recording from The Bodyguard World Tour 1993-1995 of “Run To You,” which Whitney rarely performed. Also included are film and live versions of “I Will Always Love” You,” “I Have Nothing,” “Queen of The Night” and more.

Just got in. The queue to buy merchandising is insane! At least this is taking place in a nation where its biggest concern is order and favorite pastime is queuing. The crowds that form over the merch stand in the US is just overwhelming and ugly.

I've never seen Fleming act but from what I hear she's very stiff and ordinary. I also feel that the role does not call for a nomination, no matter how good you are. I think for Carousel, in addition to Best Actress (not going to win) and Actor nominations (could win), Lindsay Mendez could get nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Shalhoub doesn't sing at all if I recall, at least not an actual song but might sing a short verse while singing on a bench (or am I mixing that up with the film?). At any rate- he commands the stage and is the moral compass of the story, but in a way it wouldn't be fair to other competitors if he gets nominated, as they utilize a lot more in terms of singing and dancing than he does.
I think Katrina Link has her Tony bagged and ready to go.

Can someone help me with these lyrics? I marked an * next to parts I'm not sure of. I'm also not sure of what shakes besides hands.
Don’t be fooled by her wink* She is not playing dolls She is stalking the halls For the thrill of the kill
Every person in school Is aware of her stare When she tosses her hair They go perfectly still
All their eyes say don’t attack me Watch them sweat and hands, heads shake Every food chain has its ??* Regina George eats stake
She’s the queen of beasts She can smell your fear In this biosphere She’s the apex predator
Like a lionesses Only with less fur You don’t mess with her She’s the apex predator
