I think we are more likely to see the recent Broadway production in London Perfect for the ENO, right?

Absolutely obsessed with Hunchback of Notre Dame pre broadway/never made it to broadway recording.
I dream that the National produces it almost every night, if only..

Who’s the young girl who sung the part of Anne in ‘A weekend in the country’? I don’t believe she’s listed in the program What a wonderful voice she has!! That was Holly-Anne Hull, current alternate Christine at Phantom. I thought she did an excellent job with that number, and really would like to see her play Anne in a production now! Oh! She’s actually in the program, apologies. I agree with you, she did a terrific job indeed!!

Also the original Beast in the Madrid production of Beauty and the Beast in 1999. Saw him in both roles. So sad. RIP

Saw it this afternoon on IMAX. Absolutely loved it. Ariana DeBose and the choreography are the highlights for me. Just checked IMDB trivia, which I love after watching a movie, three original broadway cast members from Mean Girls and three ex Billy Elliots (including the actor playing Bernardo) are in the film.

Lin-Manuel Miranda adapted the Puerto Rican characters songs into Spanish. But I believe that eventually they were reverted back to English half way through the run. Happy to be corrected.
It’s weird that they’re not gonna include subtitles in the movie if part of the dialogue is not in English.

I caught this in San Francisco during its pre Broadway tryout. Rush ticket on TodayTix. Didn’t have a clue who the Go-go’s were and I was a teenager in the 80’s. So I wasn’t familiar with any of the songs. I remember thinking that the ensemble outfits were heavily inspired by Hamilton. it was exciting to see Peppermint from RuPaul’s drag race on stage and she was good. Overall it didn’t have the quality of a Broadway show and I remember wondering wether it was gonna make it to NY

How exciting. Btw I believe there is an offer on at the moment where you can get top price tickets for £25, if anyone is interested. tickets hereAlso regarding the comment above about swings, I can count on just one hand the amount of times over the many years I've been going to Curve where a show has been cancelled because of not having enough cover. On the rare instance of a cast issue they haved pulled something out the bag 9 times out of 10 so it can still go ahead. When I saw West Side Story they had three actors performing script in hand as they were last minute replacements for actors who had come down with the flu.

You really missed something BurlyBeaR. Sacrilegious to say, but I prefer this show to "Hamilton" by a mile - it has real heart and humility. Can't wait for the film. Me too monkey. I saw Hamilton once and loved it but honestly felt and that once was enough but just knew I had to see In The Heights a second time. Very excited for the film. Agree with both, I must prefer it to Hamilton. It might not be the most elaborated book in the history of musicals but what a show! And the Southwark production was just perfect, such a dedicated cast, so full of energy, and don’t even let me start talking about Victoria Hamilton-Barrit, what a Star!

Looks amazing! Can’t wait to see it. The new arrangements for the title song sound great. How great that Olga Merediz plays abuela! I was lucky so see her on broadway and her performance was something very special. I’m sure it will translate in the same way on screen. Hoping you’re right someone in a tree, would love to see it again in London!

Only the idea of seeing Josefina Gabrielle would take me too see this but then again I would have never cast her as Madame Thenardier. Big fan of the original. It’s perfectly fine to revive shows in new ways but there was not excuse To close the original. I’m perplexed that some audiences claim not to notice any difference. It says a lot... Still glad that people enjoy it and the show leaves on. Saw the original about 20 something times and this twice (25th anniversary at the Barbican and tour at the Liceu in Barcelona) and overall it’s not better. A mixed of both productions with a revolving stage would be perfect but we all know that this is not not possible because producers greediness is the only reason behind all this. Very sad. Or I’m getting old and don’t know how to move with the times. Please don’t judge.

I was there last night. Doubting between seeing something in the West End or this I decided to go and booked yesterday morning, driving three hours didn’t seem a lot compare to fighting the overcrowded streets of London this time of the year. Hadn’t read this board for a couple of days and didn’t have a clue about the concert version. I read the comments just after I booked but then rang the theatre to be told that they were back to normal. M23-M25-M40-M1 and I arrived to The Curve. Watching pictures of past productions I hate myself for missing so many. I’ve only been here twice before for Gypsy and Hairspray. The show was delayed for a few minutes and Nikolai Foster addressed the audience explaining what had happened the previous days and that they managed to find two replacements who only had one day to rehearse and that they will be holding a scrip while performing. The show stars and it feels weird not see the familiar Jeremy Robins choreography. But I warm up to it as it’s cleverly done and adds some very interesting choices. Love this Maria, different approach to the usual version. Less innocent/naive, more cocky/funny. Not a soprano I think but I like her voice, it got even better in act two. A native Puerton Rican I think, perfect Spanish. Same as Bernardo (Colombian I think) and the two shark girls. Brilliant that The Curve managed to cast real Latinos when they seem to lack in the West End so often. Anita kills it. No purple dress but this girl owns the stage. America is done with only three girls. This is no a problem as this girls fill the space brilliantly. However I would have appreciated a couple more girls on each band. The small cast it’s quite obvious in a few scenes. Supernumerary actors are to obvious and most of the time they just stand looking on the sides of the stage without really interacting with the rest of the cast (a part from Somewhere where they all dance and sing together) Cool was cut short with no dancing sequence I guess the two last minute understudies didn’t have time to learn it. However Gee, Officer Krupke was fully staged. Kudos to this two wonderful boys and also to the rest of the cast who had to work around them, I guess it hasn’t have to be easy to perform in these circumstances specially the rest of the Jets who shared a lot of scenes with them. I picked my seats honouring my nickname but I would recomend to sit a few rows back as a lot of action happens stage front and for some scenes you really have to look up. Amazing production I had forgotten what a wonderful score this is and why this is up there on my list of my favourites. Posible the best musical ever writing. Don’t miss it!

I mean, you're certainly not alone on this. I thought she was utterly spectacular in Gypsy though. Loved her in Sweeney Todd but thought Gypsy was a star making turn for her as a musical theatre actress. I loved her and Riding equally in Follies despite how different they were. Riding is, obviously, the superior singer but Staunton just has a certain presence and star power for me that is very rare. Maybe I’d think differently if I hadn’t seen Gypsy in Leicester with Caroline O’Connor a couple of years before Chichester’s Gypsy but for me Imelda’s MamaRose was just an example of let’s try overacting to compensate that I can not reach those notes gracefully Hope I’m not sounding too harsh. Good that you get presence and star power from her when you see her, I guess it’s there I just cannot see it. At least when it comes to classy musical theatre female roles. In Sweeney she was just perfect.

I’m not excited for this with Imelda either. She is an amazing actress with a terrific career but she’s not an amazing musical theatre actress. She was great in Sweeney but not in Gypsy and Follies was much better with Jo Riding. Still they put her name above the title in the poster because she will sell tickets, because despite a reputable career in stage and screen that expands on years she has now become a ‘popular’ name in musical theatre because everybody says how good she is so she must be very good so we have to go and see her and, of course, we will her and standing ovation whatever she does.

Oliver Savile didn’t appear as Whizzer in act two. Matthew Mckena (Who was on as Mendel covering Joel Montague in Act One) went on as Whizzer in Act Two. Montague played Mendel In the second act which was delayed 15 minutes. Very interesting night at the theatre, never seen an understudy covering two main characters in one night. The guy did an amazing job. Really happy to have seen this before it closes.

Okay thank you! That’s fine I just didn’t want a pillar in view but it seems like all restricted seats are okay! Do the projections matter that much to the story? They serve as a background really and they are a major part of the production delivering some beautiful moments but we’re not talking The Woman in White at the Palace here... also you will miss part of them but no all of it. If that makes sense

Ive booked E46 Which is on the end of the "L" do you know why they might be restricted? I guess from that angle you might miss some of the projections. My seat was restricted view because there is a pillar that doesn’t let you see Jenna when she’s using a phone almost offstage during literally a few seconds but the angle is prefect because actors were facing my way most of the time, your seat is more of a side view.

Saw the last preview yesterday. Jenna is a sensational actress in probably one of the finest moments of her career.
Vocally is not broadway standards (apart from Shanay Holmes) having that would have been the icing on the cake as the cast acts flawlessly and even the set is one of the most impressive I ever seen on a fringe venue.
Sir Double Denim sat in the audience taking notes and sipped champagne during act two, so I guess he's happy with what he was seeing..
I can see why some people didn't like it, specially if you are used to listen to the OBC recording but I wouldn't avoid going, specially if you already have a ticket. And you don't have a ticket yet and you don't fancy paying Menier premium prices D21 and D22 at 25 pounds are absolutely bargains, there are listed as restricted but you only miss a couple of moments.

What a pity! Saw it for the second time in Woking and loved it again. I have to say Russia and Saudi sounded like really random places to take any musical on tour. I really hope there's still life in other places for this production, the cast were fantastic! Bring it to London instead!!
