I know this is a generalisation and one I may be shot down in flames for but straight men especially those between 16 - 35 for some unknown reason think watching musicals is a judgement on their sexuality. I agree. And higher than 35 probably. I think it’s linked as much to emotional intelligence as it is to (sexual) insecurity. Unfortunately, some people are just a bit thick on a base level before any other issues get added in!

I’ve found Steve’s enthusiasm for the show really refreshing and enjoyable. We all love different things and being given the space & respect to celebrate our unpopular/controversial opinions is important. ❤️

I may have misunderstood you - I interpreted your earlier post, along with some opinions of others discussing the show, as an assumption that perhaps he had prior issues which led him to bring the situation on himself, which I think would be unfair. Well anyway, I watched the interview and I'm now more confused than ever. She may or may not be a stalker, but she does not come across as someone unbalanced or mentally ill. She was fairly set in her facts and theories about what has happened, seems to be pretty well educated and well spoken. So, if she is a stalker, she's also a very good liar. I thought it was all very ‘researched’ and rehearsed; so that she never got surprised or spooked by a question and stayed in control. I’m not sure why Morgan goes out of his way to be a desenting voice; calling out Meghan & Harry, calling out Gadd. Just because he specialises in creating trauma rather than suffering it, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.

I wish they wouldn’t mess with arrangements & try and make things ‘current’ like some of the ghastly ‘Mean Girls’ soundtrack. Erivo’s voice sounds fine, but it does appear to be more soul roar than mt belt.

I’m 6’4”. My only worry now is that I’ve booked the Weds matinee that she might have given to Hugh Jackman to do. I’m not sure he can manage broad Brassy overacting with the odd moment of soul searching introspection?

42 Balloons!!! (And Starter for Ten, please... but mainly 42 Balloons) Here for ‘S410’! Just shave ten minutes off act one and work out how it would work without a ‘personality’ in the Giedroyc role and it’ll be W/E ready. Keep it intimate too!

I saw him as Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun and that convinced me to never watch him in anything ever again. It truly does take a great talent to play a Southern American man who regularly slips into an Australian accent but sings with a posh English accent. He doesnt do that for everybody. It's especially for you. If I have to come down there!!!! Shakes fist 👊 😂

They’re not even the right age! 😂 I loves me a bit of targeted or even risky stunt casting, but he’s at least five years too young and totally lacking the smooth, Gomez Adams-esque charisma needed for this role. Thankfully Lance isn’t a massive part of this for me, and only really needs to have chemistry with the nurse character.

What a smack in the face for actual performers. Panto? Fine, knock yourselves out, but a quality production like this? No thank you. Shame on them.

I suspect barriers just aren’t on the model. They couldn’t risk performers falling down that entrance staircase (just above the ‘with’ on the still) surely?

The only real moments of emotion for me are when Larry Murphy finally breaks down, & ‘Words Fail’; Actual demonstrations of emotion rather than endless talking/singing about it. If they can tap into the real, rather than needing volume & multi-tracking to create effective moments they’ll be onto a winner.

It thought that it was an awful lot cleverer than it actually was. I enjoyed Gosling, Blunt & Wadders performances but it didn’t really add up to the sum of its parts. Diverting enough but no classic.

Would they re-configure an old classic like the Criterion for this or just stick in on the stage?

I think the confusion arose because Hugh is understudying Dolly at The Palladium. They haven’t said anything because folks haven’t been told that Tuesday night is Imelda’s darts night (which Hugh is doing.)

He criticises the idea, in that article, of "shutting it down if it's not what you want"... but that's EXACTLY how commercial theatre works... If audiences don't like a show, they don't buy tickets and it closes. It's sad but true. So people should hate it and buy tickets anyway? Because it'll expand our tiny insular minds? There’d be none of this if it wasn’t w@nky & avant garde. Any whiff of being ‘other’ immediately puts peoples backs up. Folks like nice safe ‘know they’ll enjoy it’ fare.

I think that a name as big as Holland would distract and overwhelm it. The show still needs to be the star. Maybe an ex-boybander in the Efron role.

Sally Ann Triplett goes in as Schneider, but will need to wait for the next pairing to be able to see her...! Snap! Would love to see Sal in this; the others very much less so.

Lengthy showstop in Bristol tonight, leading to it never really finding its groove. Cover AH was excellent (very LMM) and cover Angelica was fine. The nearby ushers radio going off constantly in the last half hour p!ssed me off, and was not fine.

We don’t even have any new cross over ‘easy listening’ stars either though do we? Would Gary Barlow or Robbie Williams be interested? It needs a Groban type, of which we have none.
