Do you know if it's still true that you can only book PAYG tickets over the phone? I remember some posters mentioning this when SP brought the scheme back earlier this year. I *hate* using the phone, to the extent that I'd rather just pay the higher ticket prices than book over the phone.

Meera Syal at Cursed Child yesterday. She must be a Harry Potter fan... took the first opportunity she could to see the show after finishing Romeo and Juliet!

During the Cymbeline matinee at the RSC on Saturday, someone's mobile phone rang in the middle of the scene where Iachimo is sneaking into Innogen's bedroom. It was quite funny though as Iachimo made a wild gesture towards the offender, as if the phone was about to wake Innogen up!

I follow Lin-Manuel Miranda on Twitter, and I've just realised that his wife's name is Vanessa - just like the character in ITH who is Usnavi's love interest. Assuming that the character was named after his wife. How sweet

I liked Gertrude, stupid yet loving. They add a controversial touch in bedroom scene I've not seen before. It works here. I liked that moment with Gertrude in the bedroom scene. Felt really unusual. Also loved how Rosencrantz and Guildenstern turned up in Elsinore with a tin of shortbread and a teapot shaped like a red postbox :-D Early in the play I saw that one of the 'love tokens' Hamlet supposedly gave to Ophelia was a T-shirt with 'H O' written on it. I had to stifle a giggle as it reminded me so much of Tom Hiddleston's godawful 'I T.S.' T-shirt.

I thought she was awful in ITH but that was towards the end of her time there and I wonder if she was having vocal problems because so many people raved about her singing from early in the run. If she's got this role hopefully it means her vocal issues are sorted out, and I'll look forward to seeing her.

It was a strong production with a superb cast. Katherine's part was tiny though. She almost stole the entire thing though. Best of the female performances in that show by a long way. Marc Elliott (be still my beating heart) was hands down the best thing in the show though. Marc Elliott's song was brilliant! One of the funniest things ever... I wish there was a YouTube video of it. The whole cast was just fantastic. Hadley Fraser and Tam Mutu, Rosalie Craig and Rebecca Trehearn... there wasn't a weak link IMO.

I can pick out a top 3 pretty easily:
City of Angels The Phantom of the Opera Les Miserables
I would also choose Hamilton but I would rather see it on stage first before making a final decision.
It's really hard to choose, there are loads of musicals I love but picking a handful of those as favourites over some others is tricky!

Ah no! - Thanks fro replying! This is turning into a 'will I, won't I' saga of epic proportions. First, last October, I book tickets on Day One of sale because I think it'd be virtually impossible at a later date, and there are promises of official arrangements to return tickets, if I change my mind. Then, in early February, I offer my tickets to the resale wishlist, as I won't know any backstory and have decided not to go. Then, in late May, after the casting reveals that I am very familiar with one of the principal cast, and I am traumatised by the eternal wait for anyone to buy my tickets despite the supposed sell-out, I reclaim my tickets. And now I'm dithering back again with the recurring fear, which you reinforce, that it will all be a load of gibberish. What to do ... ? Theatre going has never been this difficult. You could always try - ooh, I dunno - reading the books? ;-)

Got a £15 rush ticket from TodayTix (with handy £10 off voucher, so it's costing me a bargainous £5) so I'm intrigued to see what I make of this!

I am telling everyone NOT to read the script. You need to see this, not read it. That said, the punches will come a lot quicker than they do and I'd love to see someone reading it to see their reactions. However the atmosphere in the theatre of discovering it all will never be beaten for me. I will buy the script as soon as it's out but I'll wait to read it until I've seen the show. Not that I have tickets to see it yet. Same here, I'll buy the book on 31 July but I'm not seeing the show until 17 August so will wait to read it then. Don't know how I'm going to avoid spoilers in the intervening two weeks - might have to avoid the Internet!

I've seen the first two so booked the Tempest. Pretty painless. Forwarded the "Young & Free" link to my 24-year-old colleague who doesn't like Shakespeare in the hope that these productions will manage to convert her!

I have to admit, I left this at the first interval, the first time I have ever left a production before the end. I thought the acting was terrible, the script awful and the plot ludicrous - as sayers500 says the killing of the children at the beginning leaves room for no character development. I would have been bored, except that the whole thing was so ridiculous I spent a great deal of time trying to stifle giggles.

I would personally love a spoiler thread as I'm not seeing it until mid-August but don't want to avoid this thread completely.

I used to love the Arcola, and got through three of their Passports (spend £50 get 5 play tickets) in about two years. However I've hardly been for a couple of years now. This play might tempt me back, though.

Anyone going to this or heard anything about it? My mam mentioned it to me while I was on the phone with her at the weekend. One of her friends is going. It claims that it will "take audiences on a spellbinding journey through British history". From the description it sounds a bit like the Olympics opening ceremony. It sounds like it has the potential to be a pretty impressive spectacle, sadly I don't think I'll be able to get up north to see it. www.thisisdurham.com/kynrenelevenarches.org/

I also get nervous when taking friends to shows (with good reason - one of them was that dire Trevor Nunn Tempest at the Haymarket). I don't see theatre as a social activity - although judging by the frequent bad behaviour we all see, plenty of people do. It's a *shared* activity but that's not quite the same thing.

I don't really like to rely on *not* printing my ticket, as my phone has an annoying habit of dying at inopportune moments.

Truly soul destroying experience and no end in sight as yet, at least with a queue system you can manage your time more productively rather than hitting a buy now button for 2 hours Sounds as if it was actually *easier* for non-members than members... I think so - I got mine within an hour and a half this morning, but my colleague who booked last week was online until lunchtime. Maybe non-members are just assuming there aren't any tickets left, and are not bothering to try?
