The Broadway run has just extended through to the end of June. Official opening night tomorrow, I believe?

I don't know some of the actors in this, but having Googled, I see that some of the transformations are quite remarkable! I spent most of the episode trying to work out what I'd seen some of them in before. Tom Hanson as Craig Meehan and Gemma Whelan as Karen Matthews were the two who surprised me the most

I've got a soft spot for Aida as it's the very first show I saw on Broadway. For cheesiness though you really can't beat the studio album with the likes of Shania Twain, Boyz II Men and The Spice Girls......

I loved this, watched the whole series at the weekend cos I have no self control. The cast is excellent, I thought Jared Harris in particular was wonderful as George VI. Really pleased that they are already filming the second series.

Candice and Jane's trip baking around Europe...the BBC need to get in on that. Someone definitely needs to get in on Val's trip to Ayia Napa!

I pine for the days of sensible theatre-based discussions. I, fir one, agree with you - guess it depends what the poplar consensus is..

We're not branching out to be a buy/sell forum on the side then?

House was sold out, at a median and majority ticket price of £75, with £20 tickets in the Gods, and £125 tickets at the very front. I expect the house was sold out on the promise of Judi Dench reprising "Send in the Clowns," as there was a huge disappointed gasp at the announcement of her non-appearance, but I think the show itself, particularly the second half, cheered up the disappointed punters. I really enjoyed the evening, the appearance of Dame Maggie Smith was a wonderful surprise and definitely the highlight for me. I think everyone left the theatre smiling and I loved the music from Oopmah Brass who were lots of fun. Steve, do you take notes at the interval or do you just have an excellent memory?! You give us such wonderfully detailed reports whereas I sometimes leave a theatre struggling to remember anything!!

5000 tried to get tickets apparently. I managed to get a ticket for the balcony. Anyone sat there before? I prefer sitting in the balcony at The Hippodrome to sitting downstairs. You get a great view of the stage and they do a drinks service too.

I think this is a huge mistake. Much as I like Emily Blunt, Dame Julie Andrews IS Mary Poppins. Big mistake. BIG mistake. Huge. Are you off to go shopping?

I was surprised during the Obit section that there was nothing about Alan Rickman as I first became aware of him with his portrayal of Obadiah Slope in "The Barchester Chronicles." Was he in the Film Awards in memorium instead? I'm sure when there was all of the fuss when Bob Hoskins died that BAFTA said they only feature someone once. So if Alan was in the film version, he wouldn't have been shown in the TV one. I guess he was more well known for film than TV too. Bafta must have been getting a bit of stick about it because they tweeted to say that they included Alan in the Film Awards in February so that's why he wasn't in this one. I love The Barchester Chronicles, will have to fish out the dvd and watch it again.

Yep, that was us, and I was the one with the verbal diarrhoea who kept telling him how much I loved Sunset. I'm sure you managed a much more eloquent conversation than I did! I don't think you were speaking 'verbal diarrhoea', you were great and enthusiastic. Think you were saying you were in Orlando at the time, when tickets went on sale. It was me who was speaking gibberish. I hope you enjoyed the final show as much as I did? Not quite sure why I felt the need to tell him we got up at 4am to book tickets but there we are! I enjoyed it very much, thank you. The atmosphere was amazing and I'm going to miss hearing that score played by the fabulous orchestra.

Phantom, was that you sat at the other end of his table? I was at the next table with three friends and we spoke to him not long after he'd sat down. He was really lovely, as was his wife who we saw again when we were leaving the Coliseum and she asked us if we'd enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever been in a theatre with an atmosphere quite like that before. A fabulous evening. Was that Don asking you about problems he is having with his IPhone? In that case yeap it was me. Yep, that was us, and I was the one with the verbal diarrhoea who kept telling him how much I loved Sunset. Yeap Andrew, Christopher Hampton and Don Black did the curtain call at the end. Interesting I bumped into Don Black in Caffe Nero next door with his lovely wife, who I chatted to, for about 20/30 minutes before the show, a great, spot on chap. The atmosphere could generate enough green energy to power the West End for a few days. People have been wrong when they have said this is the theatrical event of the year, it's the theatrical event of the decade. Now it is the last show and the ENO are having a tough time, they cannot seem to get a break from anywhere - they are being pushed under a bus very slowly, I hope that Sunset Boulevard is catalyst for something better for the company and they catch a break from now on. I like the look of the new season as it happens but really, let's be honest, it's all about Glenda isn't it. Indeed, but what happens if she doesn't go on one night? Will we get our money back? Oh, hang on, wrong thread, wrong Glenn....

At Sunset Boulevard a man behind me kept needing to tell the person he was there with what was going to happen about 30 second before it happened. It was annoying for me and I at least knew what was going to happen but I can imagine it must have been very annoying for people who didn't know. They were clearly out in force at Sunset Boulevard last night then. Around me we had phone checkers, popcorn eaters, a woman hair-flicker who was wearing every bracelet she owned, countless trips to the toilet and what seemed like everyone talking all the way through the Entr'acte. I think my favourite though were the two women in our row who, just as the curtain was going up on the first act, decided they didn't like their dead centre row view and would rather move to an empty box - which they did one at a time. They were also toilet trippers and phone checkers but with around 15 minutes of the second act remaining they packed up, phones lit and walked out chatting.

Let's just all get over the fact she missed shows. She's back now.. And she's a marvel. She certainly is, and last night was 100 times better than when I saw her struggle last week. There was a standing ovation in places in the stalls after As If We Never Said Goodbye, and she absolutely nailed the final note of With One Look. I'm not sure, but I think they have her going off stage more on the ground level rather than trailing up all the staircases to exit. Still, she gets a good workout but I think they've cut it down a bit.

Mark Hamill at Sunset Boulevard tonight, my sister stumbled up the stairs and stood on his foot - he looked understandably unimpressed! Andrew Lloyd Webber was also there.

I'm there tomorrow too, from the balcony! I forked out £75 for Stalls row B. You only live once, right*)? I'm super excited, but not quite sure if I should hope for Glenn to be on or off. *) unless you're James Bond, in which case you only live twice Same here - front row stalls with my twin sister tomorrow night. Having seen this last Tuesday where it was slightly uncomfortable in places with the missed notes etc, I've got my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be more enjoyable!

Sorry, but you lot quibbling about Close's notes really don't have a clue. Is there a stone in place of where your heart should be? Anyway, you're in the minority - thank gawd. Another esteemed friend in last night, the legendary La Zink, who reported that La Close's presence elevated all the way to the Gods. She was profoundly moved by the performance - which anyone with a shed of intellect would be. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but you're being unreasonable. You weren't there last night so can't comment you're believing one person over three people just because that one person agrees with you. Then again, they're esteemed according to you. Not that I'd want your esteem as you seem very blinkered. I was very complimentary about the whole performance but the singing was not perfect. Get over it, and yourself! I agree, I was also there for a return visit last night and she did struggle with the vocals. As much as I love her portrayal of Norma, it did distract somewhat as I found myself willing her to hit the notes which took away part of the enjoyment of the overall performance. It's not stopping me from going back to see it again, I've loved this show since I first saw it as a 16 year old during the original West End run, but last night there were some issues.

Did they stock the mugs yet? When I went they had it listed but it wasn't delivered to the theatre yet. I'm gutted they weren't selling t-shirts. I went all merchandise nuts on this one, and I almost never do. They've got both types of mugs tonight, the orange one with the logo and the white one with all Norma's costume designs - both £10 each

For a Sunset novice; how is the title song usually staged? Hasn't it always been by the pool? Yes, just with a few more clothes normally. I was glad they didn't go down the US tour route of having Norma coming out half way through the song and putting sun cream on Joe. That was all rather odd and distracting.

Sir King Bensley? You didn't see Dame Maggie on The Graham Norton Show call him that? Can't see him now without referring to him as Sir King Bensley in my head!

Sir Tim Rice, Anthony van Laast and Anneka Rice at Sunset Boulevard last night. 99.9% sure we walked past Sir King Bensley coming out of the Coliseum too at the end. And Zoe Wanamaker at J Sheekey's beforehand, if that counts!

Glenn Close and Michael Xavier at The Master Builder last night, as well as Liam Neeson With or without turban? Sadly without, no chimp either. She did, however, buy her own interval ice cream
