I've booked for stalls and circle, with senior midweek matinee offers for my parents in both areas and a Theatrecard discount for me in the circle. Prices were about what I paid for the big tours like Les Mis when sitting in the same areas (a few rows back, central, excellent view), I don't remember seeing any above £100 despite looking at good seats - were they the all package ones?

Do we know when Jon’s last day is? I’d like to catch him again before he leaves.

I saw Russell in March when the show was in Stoke, we were really impressed and I could be wrong but I they extended some of his notes to make the most of his voice.

No such drama at today's performance, thankfully. A fair few understudies/alternates on this afternoon (Cinderella, Sebastian, Stepmother) and they were all excellent. The show felt pacier today and some of the gaps that used to bother me have been bridged. And what has happened to the curtain call? Seems to have been given steroids since I last saw it, with high energy and proper bows/recognition for each part. Feels like this show is being tweaked ahead of Broadway - I very much prefer the amplified crudity of some of it, which seems to have gone up a notch. The dress circle was closed today so I guess the theatre was 2/3 full. I'm not convinced it will stay in the GL much longer, though am not sure ALW's ego would allow it to close ahead of a Broadway opening. Good to hear! Georgina is brilliant and the first Cinderella I seen in December, but today actually was supposed to be a Carrie show - does anyone know why she wasn't on? There's been pretty much radio silence on her socials since her breakup last month so no mention from her today. Carrie's holidays post shows 1-6 February as being among her days off, I'm guessing she cancelled a few days off so she could be there when the show reopened this week but maybe she still took her planned one today?

My Mum has a severe needle phobia - when she was younger she avoided the TB jab by scratching her tester to make it look like she'd had a reaction. She has avoided having any vaccines the whole time I've been alive but this year she's had all three covid jabs. She was terrified for weeks each time but she said it was important so she forced herself through it.

I loved this production - I found myself beaming throughout! I just wish I'd had the chance to see it again. I'd recently watched the filmed Broadway production, which I also loved, before going and I found I preferred parts of the Menier production despite the smaller scale. In particular, Katherine Kingsley's 'Trip to the Library' was a very different approach but I thought it was hilarious and a real highlight.

I'm not sure if we had a cut show or if those lines have just been cut from this version altogether but I noticed that in Look Down, we didn't have the "what do you think you're at? Hanging round my pitch" section, and in Turning there wasn't "every year another brat another mouth to fill", both of which I remember from London. The section in Look Down with the prostitutes has been cut for this tour and Gavroche's lyrics have been changed to the film's version. I think this is the first time they've done this in the UK, but it might have been in place in the last Broadway revival as I seem to recall talk of Gavroche's new lines at the time. They're using this version in the current concerts, despite the prostitutes making it into the O2 concert, so I'm assuming this change will remain when the new production opens. Those lines from Turning have been changed to 'who will wake them? / no one ever will / no one ever told them that a summer's day can kill', with a child singing the 'who will wake them?'. These new lines were also in the last tour and are in the current concerts so, again, I expect they'll be staying.

Niall Sheehy tweeted saying he's joining the concert. He was an enjolras cover. Who is leaving? Is it Bradley as he's doing the new production at the 'Sondheim'?? I can't believe he's playing the part as I saw him a few years ago and his voice was not up to it. Barnaby Hughes is presumably leaving early as he'll be joining the tour as Enjolras in November - Barnaby is second cover Enjolras in the concert. Only ever saw Niall in the ensemble in Les Mis but saw him as Barrett in Titanic last year and thought his singing was excellent!

Went this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it but I do prefer a proper production (preferably the original!) and missed some of the cut parts. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces back, especially Katy Secombe and Bradley Jaden back to playing Enjolras (a role that fits him like a glove). I also liked how clear the singing was without everyone running around the stage - just standing at the microphones meant there could more emphasis on singing the songs, and Confrontation in particular really stood out for me as benefitting from this.
John Owen-Jones was as incredible as everyone had said and Carrie did well as Fantine. I also thought the two new girls, Shan and Lily, did very well as Eponine and Cosette and I'd be happy if they remained with the show for its reopening. One of the cast mentioned there might be an announcement in the next week or two so hopefully there won't be a long wait to find out.
I thought Michael Ball did a good job but he isn't one of my favourite Javerts - he seemed to sing some parts slower than usual but other parts were faster, perhaps I've just got so used to hearing Javert's part sung in a certain way that it was a bit jarring! I noticed the programme has been updated and Earl Carpenter is now listed as first cover Javert, so I assume he'll be playing the role on Saturday.
I actually enjoyed Matt Lucas and all the extra asides from the Thenardiers - in the absence of the visual gags I thought it made sense to add verbal comedy to maintain the levity they bring to the show. I wouldn't want it to be a permanent fixture in a full production but was happy to see something different in this.
I must also mention the staff at the Gielgud were wonderful. My mother is disabled and she was struggling and needed to sit down when she got to the theatre. One of the ushers noticed she was in pain and arranged for us to go to the stalls bar before it opened, with all the staff we met in the process being so kind and understanding.

Today Amara and Jessica are leaving which would have been the cast change day if everything that is happening wasn't happening. Is somebody new joining as Cosette, or is the understudy taking over? I was there today and the understudy, Hannah Lawson, said they're bringing someone back to play Cosette but didn't say who. I think Charlotte Kennedy would make sense as she's the most recent Cosette, unless she's busy?

I'm revealing my ignorance here but reading this thread and the examples of performers who've never missed a show I've been wondering what this means for their holiday entitlement - aren't they required by employment law to take a certain number of paid days off? Is there some sort of loophole that means theatre doesn't have a statutory holiday entitlement?

I've spotted this cast recording on ebay, listed as 'JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT - RICHARD SWERRUN SOUNDTRACK CD', if you want to check the photos to see if it's the right one (and maybe buy it again!).

Ooh. I’m in A7. I hope Rebecca doesn’t choose me! How hellish is it though? I just thought it was really funny, I didn't mind it but that's just me. I was wearing a stripey blue top and she made a comment about how I should only be wearing the sailor costume in the bedroom... So just be prepared for anything! I was there today and thought you did a great job. I did wonder at the time if you'd known about 'Steve' because you didn't seem startled by it, you just looked like you were enjoying yourself!

I saw the matinee yesterday and I also thought Gabriel Mokake was brilliant. This was my first time seeing it so I haven't seen Obioma to compare but for me it was an accomplished, commanding performance and I hope to see him in the role again. All of it was incredible though, it more than lived up to the hype! I went with my dad, who never raves about anything, and even he loved it and talked about it all the train journey home.
For those who've been a few times, is it normal for Jamael to get entrance applause? He didn't when I saw it but the audience otherwise seemed really responsive throughout, there was a lot of cheering and applause when the lights went down and again after the pre-show announcement and all the jokes got laughs (especially George III). I was interested to see the immigrants line get as much applause here as in America, I'd been wondering how that would land over here.

Thank you both, I'll risk the 9th for now and the exchange fee is useful to know about in case I need to swap!

Does anyone know if 9 June is the confirmed date for cast change? Or might they go a week later to 16th and get back to being more in the middle of the month? I want to book before all the good but reasonably priced seats are gone, I can't believe what they're charging now for the premium seats!

Does anyone know when cast change is this year? I'm guessing 10th or 17th June but I'm worried I'll book the wrong day or leave it too late for a good seat.
