So they did not slow it down. I was hoping with the new cast they would. Oh did they not? I've not seen the tour yet. I can't understand it! May catch it in Canterbury this summer, but I'm not going to go out of my way to see it again.

I loved it at the WYP despite it's faults, but one thing I could not get over was the way Hushabye Mountain was sped up?? It made no sense to have such a lovely tender moment rushed through, was very jarring as everyone knows the original tempo, and really took me out of the moment. Couldn't understand why anyone thought that speeding it up made any sense at all.

Ooh perhaps. That's what I thought initially, but as both times I saw the show without Serena it seemed to work perfectly (with Margot and Pilar sharing the lines) I just presumed they would keep it that way. Exciting if so. I'd have liked to see the show with all 3 Delta Nus, but I'm back at uni now, and too far away to make the trip (affordably).
Actually I just remembered that in a recent interview Jon Robyns said that not all the cast members would be going to Seoul, so she could be taking over any number of characters? But I think a Delta Nu seems most likely!

I noticed that Keisha Atwell tweeted that she was joining the cast. Does this mean that someone has left? I haven't seen an official announcement and the show is only running for another week or so here...

Loved John Boyega in a couple of films (most recently Star Wars!) so I'm definitely interested in that. Also never caught The Lorax so may fit that in too. Nothing mindblowing though really.

Women of a certain age ADORED Mickey Crawford... He was my celebrity crush when I was about 10 and my parents made me and my sister watch countless reruns of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em! Still love the guy today, but not in that way anymore! I do think he's got a great voice though, and although he's not my favourite phantom (too many 'ghost' noises on the OLC!) he's definitely one of my faves! I'd take him over Gerard Butler any day!

Sure. It was a cheesy film of Brooke doing exercise while big bubble title things flashed up with '£19.99' etc at the appropriate times, while on stage Brooke and 4 male dancers did the skipping choreography. It was really cheesy and perfect for the show! Quite funny! That sounds pretty cool actually! Was the video singing or was Brooke on stage singing live? Also, how did they do the jail set? Was it just like bars being brought on by cast or nothing like that? Thanks She sang on stage. The jail was represented by the door frames with bars in them, and blue lighting to get rid of all the pink. From what I can remember at least!

Smith's Barbra Streisand impression was awful! Her Fanny Brice impression however was brilliant.
Those unfamiliar with Brice and the way in which Smith chose to play the role may very easily interpret her performance as 'drunk' because they are used to the bambi on ice yet somehow still poised way in which Streisand played Fanny in the film.
I'm not going to bother chipping in on this discussion any further, because I don't have any inside knowledge, and don't really trust that the papers aren't just reporting the skewed views of disgruntled audience members who don't know how the role is ordinarily played. If this becomes an ongoing issue and audience member / fellow company members are continually let down then yes, I think we can assume there is a problem, but at the moment we don't have any real 'evidence', just hearsay, and I'm personally not going to start drawing conclusions based off of just that.
As for Sheridan Smith not coming out between shows, there could be many reasons. Work? Resting her voice and doesn't want to be out in the cold too much? Or maybe she just doesn't want to. She's perfectly entitled to stay inside the theatre and not meet fans. Stagedooring isn't part of her job, or anyone elses.
I will say however that I thought she was fabulous when I saw her at the Menier, and I hope that if there is an issue it is sorted out quickly and compassionately.

I think if they were going to do it then they would have done it by now. There have been too many great cast members that picking just one definitive one for each role to appear on the cast album would seem odd, and recording a new one for the 10th anniversary when we'll seemingly have a new cast (or at least 2 new leads) wouldn't be representative of what the fans have loved about the show for 10 years. I think personally it would've been nice to get a cast album of Rachel Tucker or Willemijn Verkaik (although she does appear on the German cast album!) but now I just can't see it happening.
In a dream world it'd be nice to get a load of ex cast members back to record different versions off all of the songs and put them all on a CD, but realistically I can't see it happening. A few of ex Elphabas have featured their own versions of Wicked songs on their personal albums though, so there's that.

Happy for Christopher Jackson, whose voice I am totally in love with. Surprised but happy for Phillipa Soo and Jonathan Groff, especially the latter, whose part is really quite small. However, as a fan, I am over the moon!

Alfie Allen and Katie Brayben joining the cast.
I'm a big fan of Jesse Eisenberg and am even more interested now that Katie Brayben is involved, but I've just trawled the ticket website and all of the very few £35 seats appear to have been sold. Almost £50 for bottom price at the Trafalgar Studios is just not possible for me. Shame there is no dayseat / £15 monday policy. Oh well... guess I'll hold out for discounts!

I think I have those same turtle pins actually. Paperchase. They do a fabulous selection. I have bumble bees, ladybirds, ducks AND turtles. Just a bit of info for any novelty pin enthusiasts out there!
Anyway I do have some rather lovely looking tickets from a few years back, whereas now they all seem to look exactly the same. I like that Wicked make the effort to print the show's logo on the ticket, but that's about it! I also prefer the long thin tickets like the ones given out at the Menier and Southwark. They just look and feel a little bit nicer that the big blocky ones.
I never opt for the print at home option anymore though. Mostly because like having a physical ticket to paperclip inside my programme later, but also because last year for some reason I opted for print at home on my tickets to Memphis the Musical's closing night tickets, but thought I'd opted for collect at box office. Cue me arriving at the theatre, them being unable to find the tickets and me almost breaking down in the foyer (I think I was a bit hysterical. I ADORED that show and had been looking forward to enjoying it one last time). Of course they printed them out at the box office for me and there was nothing to worry about, but in that split second when they said they didn't have my tickets and I questioned whether I'd bought them at all I truly felt as if I grew a stress line on my forehead!

Can so,embody please explain to me about the set. Seeing production shots, there seems to be 2 wagons and a lift. The scene in the salon seems abit bare across the whole stage whereas it fitted quite nicely in London. Does it look abit silly in a huge neon pink box with a triangle at the top?! And also how do all those balloons appear across the stage, are they brought on by cast? Does anybody think this set is better than the original one? Set is quite minimal, with the majority of it being suggestive (e.g. a door, chairs, a desk etc.) but for me this wasn't distracting. The lift bought on the dressing room for OMIGOD and Take It Like a Man, and was also used as an entrance by cast members, most notably the Greek Chorus in Positive. The rest of the set is wheeled on from either side of the stage (so chairs, tables, benches etc.) The screen is used to project images representative of set, and also shows Brooke's exercise video. It's not really noticeable or distracting in most scenes, and didn't look silly at all. Balloons were brought on by members of the cast for Whitney's party, and remained there during Chip On My Shoulder (acknowledged by Emmett in Elle's room on the 'hello Kitty' line.) until the 'go back to school with a big chip on your shoulder' line, when they were taken off by cast members. Definitely more minimalistic that the West End one (probably down to budget), but this wasn't detrimental to the overall production. Not for me, at least.

Exciting! I didn't like the show at all when I saw it (although I thought the majority of the cast were brilliant, the elements just didn't all come together for me), I'd be interested in seeing a totally new cast. Especially as I loved the cast album. I've not seen Killian as Charlie yet, but my sister wants to see the show so maybe I'll get to before he leave (if he is leaving).

Hamilton is probably going to sweep the board, with a lot of noms and then I guess it'll win most categories it's nominated in.
I'd like to see Lea Salonga and Telly Leung nominated for the best actress and actor categories, for their roles in Allegiance. Although I thought the show was only okay, their performances were wonderful. Salonga is still one of the most fabulous leading women, and Leung was terrific too. Other than that I can't see the show picking up any awards. I'd like to see Cynthia Erivo win best actress and Renee Elise Goldsberry win best supporting actress. Best actor should be Leslie Odem Jr.
I's also like to see Spring Awakening pick up a couple of nominations.
Very excited for the nominations to be announced!

I went to the understudy performance yesterday and really enjoyed it! It was so lovely to see a westend show giving the covers a chance to shine. All the principle cast were also in the audience supporting which was really humbling to see! The audience were very responsive and a full standing ovation was given at the end. Janie Dee even got emotional during the final scenes. All covers played the parts amazingly and hats off to Jemima and Kevin for participating and allowing the performance to take place. Oooh that's wonderful to hear. I was so tempted to go but couldn't really justify a third visit. I am personally a big fan of this show. I thought it was absurd but hysterical, the cast was brilliant and the end of act 2 is brilliantly paced. Was it the funniest thing I've ever seen? No. But I really enjoyed it both times I went and if it had run for longer I'd definitely be back. Fascinating to opinions on shows like this can differ so dramatically.

Misc:Someone should really tell Vivienne that "to thine own self be true" was actually written by Nigel Bottom, and not William Shakespeare. That line is spoken by Polonius in Hamlet which was definitely written by Shakespeare I think that was a Something Rotten joke!

Yes the cuts all seemed unnecessary to me too (while I agree Blood In The Water would've been the one to cut down a bit... it always seems to drag). However, I think really taking out a verse here and there did no damage either. I think you'd only notice if you were already familiar with the show, which I guess a relatively small number of audience members were. Enjoyed the show just as much on Saturday (I did giggle at Lele Woods during the interval too!) and Lucie and Jon were the standout performers again for me. I didn't mind the song changes as much second time around. The bollywood twist in What You Want was less jarring and I did very much enjoy Jamal Andreas' vocals, and the slow start to So Much Better is okay. But the 'WOW' bit and the way the pace picks up after it in the original version still works better for me. I just love this show and was so happy to see such a brilliant cast in this regional production so near me! Shame I wont be able to catch it again now. Hoping it will maybe tour though. After dragging my housemates to see me in my uni's production they'd love to see a professional production of the show now!

I've seen and been in some terrific am-dram productions..... and some absolutely dire ones. I think it really depends on a lot of things. An am-dram company who I got drafted into to teach singing was one of the most poorly run groups ever. None of the council seemed to have an interest in theatre, and hadn't actually seen a profession play or musical in years. Seemed more interested in yelling at kids for a few hours. (Director's note- "stand on stage"... panto dame- I DON'T sing, M.D.-"well just perform the song as a dramatic monologue." (The song was All By Myself)). However, I saw a stunning production of Rent performed by some uni students, and my uni's production of Cabaret (in which I played Kost) was rather good too. I'm not sure how I feel about Amdram. It can be quite fun but I feel like I've seen it at its worst too. And I personally use the term Amdrammers to describe those who partake!

Tonight, they lost Serena after Omigod you guys. Not sure why and there was no announcement, but they handled it perfectly. If you hadn't known there was supposed to be a third Sorority/Greek Chorus girl, you wouldn't have noticed. Margot and Pilar covered all her lines, and even Elle didn't address Serena. However, they were one letter short to form ELLE WOODS at the end of act one, so Fergus McCall came on stage but chose the wrong position, as the book covers read LELE WOODS. Oh I forgot to mention that we had no Serena at all on Wednesday night!
