Has a tour been announced for this? It's just been announced to be playing Hull when the New theatre reopens in November.

I LOVE this show. It's my first and so far only show I've seen in New York. I'm so glad Disney decided to capture it on film to give another chance to see it: I hope it gets released so I can continue to enjoy it for years to come, until someone is brave enough to bring it over to the theatre.
I've started the campaign, tweeted Disney theatricals telling them to swap the glorified panto that is Aladdin and get Newsies over in some form be that west end or tour asap. Seize the day!

Booked this for Clywd Theatr in March. Thought it sounded interesting and another new theatre to visit that isn't all that far away from home.

Saw this tonight. An enjoyable evening of theatre, nothing new but pleasant enough. Strong cast and some good songs in there but also slow at times. Set was ok for a tour but a bit flimsy at times.
Unfortunately the theatre had run out of programmes which was surprising because it was less than full, assuming they just didn't print as many as usual based on advance sales. I would say give this a go if it comes near but don't go with to many expectations. 3 stars from me.

If you can wait till the last minute, the Accor Happy Mondays offer will let you book rooms in central London for £40, £50 or £60 for the following two weekends , if you book on Monday or Tuesday Details here - www.headforpoints.com/2016/07/12/happy-mondays-accor-now-2-weeks/The selection varies but I've almost never not been able to get a room that way when I need one. Exception is peak weekends (e.g. Just before Xmas or when an event like the Marathon is on) Thanks for highlighting this! I had a free weekend week after next so making an impromptu theatre trip to see Throughly Modern Millie in Wimbledon, got the Ibis styles at Kensington for £40 on a Saturday just a few stops on the underground so can't complain!

Having the New Theatre closed for most of the year of culture seems like very bad planning on somebody's part It closed this time last year after the panto was finished but work didn't really get started properly until around May time. Think there were problems with the plans and then unexpected funding issues. But it's looking good last time I walked past. The new main entrance extension is in place and they are currently building the new fly tower and backstage area. Hopefully it will attract the larger tours when it's all done.

I'm tempted to make the trip at some point. Website is completely impenetrable though - seems to be no way of (eg) listing all theatre shows or all art exhibitions during the year, other than listing everything that's on every day which is impossible to navigate. I managed to dig it out but I do admit it's hard. Only the first 3 months of the year have been announced so far. With Hull New theatre closed until atleast the summer, Hull Truck theatre website may be your best port of call or for art the Ferens Art Gallery which has just reopened and I believe is hosting the turner prize this year if that's your thing.

As a current Hull resident of 2 and a bit years I thought it might be nice to start a thread that highlights Hulls year in the spotlight. It has a bad rep, but I can honestly say I've never had a problem here. I intend to take part in as many of the events as possible. With partnerships with the likes of the RSC it's going to be a good year, starting with the premier of Richards Beans new play- The Hypocrite. The city centre is buzzing right now, I fully recommend you come and experience it for yourself sometime this year. Take a look at the website to see all that's going on www.hull2017.co.uk

My adopted home city of Hull will be cultured for a year. Then forgotten.
However on hearing someone mention Matilda is to tour next year, and knowing the RSC is one of the main partners of capital of culture, I want to make an educated guess Matilda will open it's tour and reopen the (New)New theatre following its 18 months refurbishment.

This is well worth a listen to anyone who may have missed it. Especially if you enjoy Irving Berlin's White Christmas and stories about sensible administrive owls.

A combination of my impulsive theatre habit, early pay day, Christmas spirit and listening to everyone's opinion on here has lead to me booking an overnight in Leeds in early Jan just to see this on one of my many trips back across the country. Well you lot have never failed me yet!

Now I have to admit I'm only really familiar with the movie and the only stage version I've seen was on a cruise ship this summer but I enjoyed that much more. Was that Royal Caribbean? If so, my friend is in that production. He's playing Sonny! Yeah that's the one, onboard harmony of the seas, and it's rather impressive theatre.
