The show was AWFUL..... Burn the scripts and bring back Bombay Dreams - that was fun with good music at least!

Balcony closed?? Madness... Thing is I would say 80 percent of the people I work with DONT go the theatre in London. That's the reason, not the shows!

A celebration of employment, destiny, dreams and life! I have lots of nostalgia for this concept show as it was my final production we did at drama school - and it didn't disappoint. Wow, we just loved ever second of it, lots of changes and additions (including new material from Hamilton writer Lin Manuel Miranda) superb storytelling and incredible performances all round. A very different show however as someone pointed out from the original with many songs cut and correct there is no plot as such. But gosh as a piece it still works wonderfully and some some of the best choreography and staging I've seen in a long time for such a small space. Funny, sad, poignant, it brought a tear to my eye and a few tingles down the spine. Go and and see it!! OUTSTANDING HIT from Southwark again!! 9/10

Loved Tarzan on Broadway. That, Newsies and Aida were my favourite Disney musicals - odd that they all never came to the UK in fringe, tour or full on West End productions. Shame

Better yes. Perfect no.....
Without Candy Man and Golden Ticket it would be a total dud.
Lovely orchestrations.

Proud of what? An adult rational conversation about sound and creativity in modern day theatre. Having worked with cables and sound I question how dancers could in fact dance with cables down their legs. It's a really interesting question and indeed subject!

Well here's one thing. Phantom of the Opera song is ALSO click tracked as were the kids in Kenwright's Whistle Down The Wind that toured on and off for ten years. Countless other shows do it in various parts of the show too. It's practical for many reasons - in Phantom's case - the leading actors are both running around the stage on different levels (also using different chorus members dressed up as the characters!)
In regards to 42nd Street I really hope it isn't recorded....

Saw last night. Friend said the tap was CLICK TRACKED? Omg.... Is this TRUE? I think that any forum member who has sat in the front row to see this show, which is basically all of us, will confirm it's not click tracked. That's the whole point. We were front row balcony and as it was my second time I noticed the tap sound was exactly the same level. How would they microphone the feet? Hm... Surely the sound wouldn't carry?

The main problem I find with London is that a lot the best work is in the Fringe now - Carrie, Dogfight, Clockmakers Daughter, Xanadu, Ragtime, Titanic come to mind.. They were all the best things I saw for years (42nd Street and Dreamgirls aside)

Personally i think you could say the same for waitress Waitress is such a weak show. Seeing Sara Barielles in it was great but it just shows how flawed the staging, choreography, etc are. Totally agree - Waitress is a sweet yet dud show about everyone having affairs and nothing happens at the end! I soooo wanted to love it yet sadly didn't.

Saw this in Wimbledon tonight. Wow we all loved it. What a cute funny show. I mean, it's not the best musical ever and the chorus is pointless mostly but I'm really glad I saw it! Even Les Dennis was good!

Saw this over the weekend. Sad to say they have missed the mark on this at so many levels. From the cheap set that looks like a touring Kenwright show rather than a new Broadway spectacle to removing Rasputin and adding the strange and badly written character of Gleb. The show was badly directed, had lots of historical and cultural innacuracies and at times with starving soviets I found it at times in bad taste (the Baricade it isn't). The projections too made me dizzy. It will sell and run for a bit - but it's an epic fail from me sadly.

Yeah i found the Adelphi production a massive disappointment. Basic direction, hammy acting (especially from Philip Quast as Peron), the static set while pretty didnt help make the production come alive. The Kenwright production is an improvement Well there's a first time for everything Set aside I thought Kenwright's Whistle Down The Wind was creatively better the the Aldwych version.

Oh and Let Me Be Your Star from Smash. There are so many male versions to listen to on YT. Super song. Shame they couldn't write songs that good for Charlie!

I wish they would. They should do in English once a month. Such a spectacular show. I wonder what changes they will make for the 30th next year? Maybe bring BELLE back? I hope they don't get rid of Ashley.
