There's no shortage of talented dancers in the UK, and nowhere near enough work for most of them. Our david being a perfect example!

Does anyone think we might get an actual DVD of the film? Let's hope so, anita. I don't think I've ever mentioned that I've got a small part!

What's good is very good, the rest is just...average.
It can't be Irving Berlin's fault, so the blame must lie with the transfer of the film to stage.
Stuart Neil is still freely sharing his perspiration with anybody and everybody. What he needs is a tour of duty to the Falklands! Wet through, he were, as was anyone sitting further forward than Row G. I was in A1.
I'm not sure it was such a good idea to build the wooden staircase of Columbia Inn right out into the side aisle. I arrived with only a few minutes to spare, so rather than go the long way round and disturb everybody, I decided to vault into my seat. The woman following behind chose to crawl under the stairs, on hands and knees, to reach hers!
Sandra Marvin is a marvel. Grace Mouat's American accent is perfectly credible, despite reports elsewhere to the contrary.
I'm pleased I went, though once was enough. 3 and a half stars.

Despite 12th night being last Friday, tonight I shall be White Christmasing, and gracing the world-famous Crucible Theatre with my presence.

I didn't get beyond the headline in the supermarket, but there's a concerning story in one of today's tabloids. Would explain why one of this year's celebs withdrew.

Money Into Light: The Emerald Forest Diary, by John Boorman, is the best book on film making I think I've ever read.
Long out of print, of course, but second-hand copies are available for next nothing.

Has The Crucible ever been performed at The Crucible? Yes, at least once. I won't lie, I couldn't remember the year. Turns out it was 2004. Some bloke called Douglas Henshall played John Proctor, alongside Amelia Bullmore. Wonder what became of them?

Thank you, n1david. This has become quite the TheatreBoard tradition. Another great year for the world-famous Crucible Theatre, with not one, but two top five places!

On the wireless this morning, the Bishop of Huddersfield said that in Denmark everyone jumps off a chair on the stroke of midnight.
We get a recording of Rick Astley singing his greatest hits!

I'm convinced there's a BBC committee that meets annually in New Broadcasting House to decide which Agatha Christie is next in line to be murdered (pun intended).

The weather outside was frightful so, with a tub of Roses by my side, I snuggled under the duvet and watched this morning's 10.45 'showing'.
So many happy memories of the 9 times I saw the show at Drury Lane (plus once on the big screen). From the first note, under Jae Alexander's direction, to the last, I was grinning from ear to ear...despite the shortcomings in the story and Tom Lister not being quite nasty enough.
If we never see a production on this scale again, at least it's been captured on film for prosperity.

I’ve got 2 things on my list. First is to go to some different theatres in London. On my list to try and visit next year - Sadler’s Wells Soho Theatre Orange Tree Theatre Secondly, I’ve n5ever been to an opera or a ballet before so I’d like to give them a watch as well. While Sadler's Wells is mostly contemporary dance, BRB are doing Sleeping Beauty there in April so you could tick off Sadler's Wells and ballet in one go! Or there's Northern Ballet's production of Romeo & Juliet a little later in the spring.

I can't believe it's already that time of year again.
Happy Christmas to all of TBs increasingly large number of members, new or old, and best wishes for the new year.
Here's to the Crucible Theatre becoming even more world-famous in 2024!!! 🙂

Really interesting programme on BBC World Service the other day about Ivo van Hove. Well worth spending 27 minutes on. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct4yg5I had no idea his first name is pronounced the same as the glue!

I wasn't referring to you, BurlyBeaR , obvs. It would be an honour to sit next to you. Unfortunately, I'm still far too young to qualify for a provincial midweek matinee.

As I only booked a few days ago, I ended up with one of the £10 banquette seats. So banquettes can now be booked in advance, our david ? The last time I went to REX they could only be booked in person on the day. You may have sold it to me, so it'd better be good. Hope I don't get anything too burly sitting next to me!

Kat Rose-Martin, the playwright, is also a really good actor. She acted Barrie Rutter off the stage in When We Are Married. Ruby Burtle, the maid, is supposed to be from Rotherham and her accent was spot on.
The world-famous Crucible Theatre has this scheme for early career creatives. Kat Rose-Martin was part of the first cohort. Whichever direction she takes, she's one to watch.

I'm sure, if they were TB members, the artistic directors of the Stephen Joseph in Scarborough and the New Victoria in Newcastle (under Lyme) would have something to add. The problem is not with the format, but with inexperienced or unimaginative directors.
In real life, we don't all stand in a straight line having a conversation.

What's The Courtyard theatre like? Rectangular and on three levels. Mostly raked seating, with single rows around the sides. Depending on what rows are sold, the first row, or two, are often below stage level, and have a price to match. Picture credit: Ian Grundy

So that's the sponsored name of what was the Factory? I think we speculated on this somewhere earlier in the thread.
