Thanks to the protestors who interrupted play last year, everyone attending the World Snooker Championship is now frisked on entry. This is done outdoors, in all weathers, which so far this year has been very cold and sometimes wet.
Having entered not guilty pleas, the protestors themselves are not due to stand trial until next month. Goodness knows what their defence is going to be? It's not as though there weren't any witnesses.

ATG made an invitation to treat. BurlyBeaR made an offer, which ATG initially accepted. From the ATG terms and conditions, which were updated as recently as 05.04.2024: " 1.1 Your contract for the purchase of Ticket(s) is formed as soon as We have processed Your payment and will expire immediately after the performance of the Event for which You purchased Ticket(s). However, any purchases are subject to payment card verification and other security checks and Your transaction may be cancelled if it has not passed Our verification processes.
3.1The price of the Ticket shall be the price set at the time We accept Your order. All advertised prices are inclusive of any applicable taxes and per Ticket booking fee (where applicable) but exclusive of any per transaction, collection or delivery fee.
21.1 Any complaints about a Ticket holder’s seating or ability to view a production should be made promptly to the Venue management either before or during the performance. 21.2 If any dispute arises out of these Terms and Conditions, We will attempt to settle it. We will acknowledge all customer correspondence within 24 hours and We shall use Our reasonable endeavours to consult or negotiate in good faith, and attempt to reach a just and equitable settlement satisfactory to both parties within 5 working days. Although this does not restrict your rights to pursue court proceedings, if we are unable to settle any dispute by negotiation within 21 days and you are not satisfied with our final response, you may attempt to settle it through Alternative Dispute Resolution and can contact The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR). We are members of STAR and they provide a free and approved dispute resolution service for customers of STAR members.
You can reach STAR on 01904 234 737, or +44 1904 234737 if calling from outside the UK (10am-5pm Monday to Friday), or by completing the complaints form or visit www.star.org.uk/dispute-resolution/. If you’d prefer to write to them, their address is:
Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers Blake House 18 Blake Street York YO1 8QG" In ye olden days, there would often be an 'Error and Omissions Excepted' clause in contracts, but I can't seen one in ATG's, though I have only given them a quick scan.

When was the last time you were in an actual, physical shop, BurlyBeaR? Nobody has had their shopping 'bagged' for the last decade. Unless you ask for one, you don't even get a receipt anymore!

Something happened to me this afternoon that hasn't happened to BurlyBeaR for a very long time. At approximately 3.30pm, a shop assistant in Home Bargain called me a "young man". So there we are. It's now official. If only they sold fondant fancies! And to cap an almost perfect day, I've just been inches away from the lovely Hazel Irvine. She asked for a photograph, but I have a strict no-selfie policy. 😁

Our Jamie is back at home for the next two weeks. The last day coincides with the opening day of the World Snooker Championship. It's going to be a very busy month for Front of House!

By sheer coincidence, I happened to be in Sainsbury's at the exact time when Mr Kipling French Fancies were being reduced.
Usually £3.00 for eight, I was able to buy 32 of the sweet squares for a grand total of £2.96. The young woman couldn't print the yellow labels fast enough!
Goodness knows why I've got this reputation for being fanatical about fondant fancies? 😙
I just hope I've got room for them in the pantry. It's already home to 30 Cadbury's Creme Eggs.

50 years ago to the very day! I wasn't even in short trousers, BurlyBeaR was in his late teens and, unbelievably, Paul Nicholas was already 29.

Do you actually get to see some willy in the finale? At the world-premiere, in Sheffield, the overwhelmingly female audience got rather more than a quick view. Image in spoilers for those of a nervous disposition.

Steve, do you regularly travel north to see productions at the world-famous Crucible Theatre?

The people around me are starstruck at Layton Williams being in the row behind me at Jamie. I don’t think they’ve recognised John McCrea. Sad to hear that. Though I suspect John McCrea is rather pleased.

It's not the get-in that will be the problem, but the get-out. You can't just take a wrecking ball to all that Grade II* listed concrete. 🙂

Don't believe a word of it, our david. What may be the dealbreaker is BurlyBeaR's insistence on a chauffeur driven limousine transporting him to and from MCR. Thinks he's too important to travel by train! 😉

I may shortly have to remove my very stylish Italian-made sweater, as I sit outside, on Sheffield's trendiest road, enjoying this pint of Irish Red bitter. 🔥🍺

Channel 5 tonight at 7.35pm (and repeated on Tuesday at 7pm).
Apparently, this is "the scandal that rocked Britain".

After eight years, Robert Hastie has announced the 24/25 season will be his last as Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres. I'm going to miss seeing him in the home baking aisle of Marks & Spencer. Recruitment for one of the most coveted roles in theatre will begin later this month. M&S have a home baking aisle ? Really ? Which branch is that ? The branch closest to the world-famous Crucible Theatre, obvs. 🙂

Anthony Lau and Georgia Lowe gone for an *interesting* style. Press night tonight, I think, so we'll see what the reviews are like.
