You reap what you sow... Obviously I am not condoning stalkers but you can’t manipulate unhinged people one second and then expect them to be rational the next.

Yes you’re probably right about Kerry. Question - why does Carrie Hope Fletcher have such a huge following? Is it because of Les Miz? Not throwing shade - really just want to know... No one really knows. She's super talented but the enthusiasm of her fandom remains much of a mystery 😀 I think she taps into the insecurities of young girls/women and manipulates them into supporting her and buying her books etc. She’s quite shrewd.

The Danish Girl is one of my favourite films, I can't deny. Tom Hooper might be good at cleaning toilets too, but that has nothing to do with directing a musical on film. I think Tom Hooper is literally panicking about what to do with the material. He has absolutely no idea about the artform, this way of storytelling, what acting through song is (he thinks acting in spite of song is acting through song), whether to hire singers who can act through song or movie actors, no clue about the pacing of scenes, absolutely no idea about the given of sung thoughts on film and the essence of treating sung thoughts differently from sung dialogue, etc. The person working at Universal responsible for this choice should be fired. Tom Hooper directing a movie musical is like giving my 2 year old nephew the responsibility of flying a boeing 747 filled with passengers. A situation that has no winners. Have you seen this already??? I’m not doubting you may possibly be right but stop stating things like they’re facts before they are. Your opinion based on history is not fact for the future!

Either way, can’t complain. Never seen a professional production of WWRY before, and there’s plenty of time to see it in Glasgow. I saw it a few times in the West End and still feel like I’m waiting to see a “professional” production. Love the music and some great performances but a dire show.

In this theatre the front row is AA, A or B? Pretty sure it is row A for Kinky Boots at the Adelphi.

The video that they released a while ago to advertise this looks fantastic. Been desperate to see it again since it closed in the West End, will definitely be trying to get to Hornchurch. Watched it in ipswich and thought it was on a par with west end version (and obviously better than the time with Ronan who had zero range and lowered notes)

I have a question about the current London cast. I think Amy Manford is wonderfully cast, she has the look, poise and sound of a Christine. The tone of her voice has the right balance between innocence and classical strength. This role needs to radiate youth and beauty and is quite difficult to cast but they hit the nail right on its head here. Without being disrespectful to another performer, it kind of startles me that the first cast Christine, Kelly Mathieson, does not fit the role at all in my opinion. No doubt she is a well trained singer, but the sound of her voice is too mature for the role, too trained, has a color that does not suit the role, and she does not look like a Christine in the slightest. About every chorus girl looks more like a Christine than she does. She is actually the ideal Madame Giry too me, in terms of voice, poise and look. I think this is really a pity, as they feature this lady on the promotion pictures and the commercial etc, which does not reflect well on the show. This is not at all her fault, but I kind of blame the casting directors. She does what she can and she is very talented, just not right for the role. I have seen the show on Broadway and in London many times (as well as other places in the world) and I have seen many wonderful Christines. A strange thing I noticed that a few years back on Broadway they used to cast Christines that looked and sounded like Madame Giry's too (Rebecca Pitcher for example) and in London they used to cast more truthful to the character. They broke this habit on Broadway with the wonderful Kaley Ann Voorhees, another girl who is a real Christine in my opinion, but now it seems they break the habit in London too, but then the other way around? I really don't understand this. I thought Kelly’s voice was very strong and I have no problem with a soprano who actually has some weight behind their voice but the fact that she did the Sarah brightman cadenza in think of me annoyed me. I liked her voice but her acting was very annoying and amateurish (wide eyed and over the top arm flailing)

Sorry I disagree, I've seen plenty of matinees at the open air and they have been excellent, never felt like something is missing. If the production is good it shouldn't matter what time of day you're seeing it and the production team should allow for that I saw JCS at a matinee and evening and the difference the lighting effects and the fact it was dark so you didn’t see the other audience members made was quite significant. Much preferred the evening performance despite that one being interrupted by rain!

I wonder what happened to her?! She was all the rage at one point!
I thought she was great. A quick Wikipedia glance shows she doesn't appear to have appeared in a musical since Evita on Broadway in 2013.
Perhaps she has abandoned that world and retreated back to Argentina.
Always thought she could have made a very interesting Norma Desmond in the future.... I enjoyed her presence in Evita but her voice was not up to it. Screeching cat is the only comparison I can think of. Her voice makes listening to either recording she appears on painful. Confused how she also got the Broadway gig.

Normal sized means anyone with a WOMANLY figure of any size rather than a totally unrealistic size zero type one. Not sure why I’m even explaining that to you. Out of all my post you chose those two words to comment on, rather than want to comment on the show itself. Good on you. The use of the word NORMAL actually makes you sound like you’re the one with the body shaming thing going on in my opinion. If somebody is skinny they are abnormal? The fact that you chose to comment on body size in your review of the show? Good on you.

did she choose a too large location or overestimate the amount of fans who would come? Think the Sunday dates were added due to demand to be fair but obviously the demand for further dates wasn’t actually there!

See, I never liked CHF, but found her Watch Me Wednesday thing quite interesting, so sort of got watching that on a weekly basis and tolerated her a bit more. This blog post (more like a dissertation!) is a prime example of why I actually can't bear her. The world is not ending Carrie, please, calm down I’ve never liked her. She’s all about self promotion and manipulation but she doesn’t like the fact that through manipulating people and pretending to be their “friends” that vulnerable people might actually feel a connection to her and think she is their friend. She then makes all of her “hopelesses” side with her on twitter when someone questions her or things don’t go her own way. She’s great at playing the nice as pie victim but she needs to be called out. Without her stalkers she’d be nothing. Glad this forum seems to see her true colours because on twitter she is a goddess it seems.

I have to say, I didn't expect the set to look as much like the London production! I thought there'd be a lot less scramble pieces, and more of a cloth look, a bit like Wicked tour vs London. Yay Matilda http://instagr.am/p/Bf9A4MUnfmu Looks great. Will be interesting how they carry out certain scenes without a central aisle in stalls to use.

Could you explain that in non-marketing terminology, please? She makes money from her books, from her roles in shows and from youtube videos. Actually, come to think of it she also has an online store and likely sponsorship deals. AND an album coming out? Gosh many income streams. She’s very good at tapping into and manipulating the needy teenage girl market and making out she’s so opinionated and relevant i’ll give her that. She isn’t a celebrity though as most people outside of the theatre world won’t have a clue who she is. I thought she was just ok as Eponine but she overacted and her voice was strong but a bit too shouty for me.

She sounded like she smoked 100 a day in Billy Elliott and struggled vocally but was still very good.

I’m seeing this in Ipswich in about 3 weeks and I am shocked at how poorly it is selling. The night I’m going, 24 tickets have been sold in the circle and not many more in the stalls. Is this the case throughout the tour or is it just Ipswich?

Different opinions are all good however some opinions come across as personal vendetta's. Wanting a performer to fail and making unfounded statements that that is happening is just sketchy. It was good that robertb213 told us what he saw last week at the show, nothing wrong with that. Then tom you yourself have called Marisha "excellent" in the past so you can understand people enjoying her performance. 😊 Excellent? Must have had a drink then too! She’s not bad at all but much preferred Amber’s vocal. Nice that you’re so on the ball/stalking posts though Elle

Also, people have their own opinions. I have seen her in the theatre and “I can confirm” she is just ok. Her voice is not for me and I think she plays up to the audience too much. Opinions are opinions. Nobody is right or wrong. She sounded exactly like the YouTube videos in person to me. Fair enough, and yes exactly, each to their own. I was just responding to the suggestion that Marisha was struggling to sustain her performances and that she seemed to be getting a bad reaction lately, and from where I was sitting, I saw none of that. But indeed, she won't be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. Sorry, had a drink.

I saw her a week ago. I can confirm that she is incredible. Also supported by the fact that she got a standing ovation after AAITY, huge applause after IAC and Listen, and more standing at the end. Sometimes YouTube recordings sound nothing like being in the actual theate with the performer. Also, people have their own opinions. I have seen her in the theatre and “I can confirm” she is just ok. Her voice is not for me and I think she plays up to the audience too much. Opinions are opinions. Nobody is right or wrong. She sounded exactly like the YouTube videos in person to me.

That's the first time i've heard Marisha sing AIATY because i've avoided it due to possibly seeing her in the role in the future, and i have to say, it doesn't sound my cup of tea. I prefer the smoother vocals of Amber and what i've heard of the other two. I agree. She sounds out of breath and I don’t like the tone of her voice. That’s exactly how she sounded when I saw her in the theatre too. Don’t get the hype. She puts me off going back - would have to be sure of seeing one of the others, although I’ve seen Karen very early on and wasn’t bowled over.

Saw the show last night. I really enjoyed it and thought that it was a lot better than I expected as I don’t usually like rap but I still think it is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good show with great choreography and performances but it is not even close to the best thing I’ve seen. Rachel John has such a great voice and was by far the standout female. Giles wasn’t on which is a shame but his understudy was mostly very good. I was expecting an annoying audience but it was quite an older audience than I anticipated and although lively when applauding bits, they were very well behaved. I have a ticket for March but I’m not sure I want to see this again so soon. Do they refund (minus fee) without any questions asked?

Marcus really couldn't sing in Spamalot, he just spoke most of the lines on different pitches. Why on earth someone would book him for another musical, I've no idea. I don’t think it’s that he can’t sing - he held a tune - it’s just that there was hardly any strength or power.

Saw the show at yesterday’s matinee performance and it was just OK. I expected much worse from Marcus from what people were saying. His acting wasn’t that bad although he should have had more presence but his singing was not anywhere near strong enough. Celinde was the standout for me and I thought Harry Francis was good as Tom Thumb. Also, some of the ensemble who did the acrobatics etc. Didn’t like the annoying pair who opened the second act - not funny! The show itself just isn’t that great. I didn’t really like or care about any of the characters and the music isn’t anything special. Marcus made it across the rope in one attempt by the way.

Parsley said the singing was bad? I thought it was just superb! Utter nonsense.... It wasn't bad it just wasn't good. All 3 female leads struggled with the score @ times. Occasionally shouting which is not ainging[/quote] Must have seen an off night. Was excellent tonight
