Simon and Ruth in particular may have decent sized fanbases which could be an issue for Brian. Personally given how many different shows he has done over the years, I hoped he would have been better. The Paul McCartney hair colouring didn't look good either.
Rev Rich won't be very good but could be this year's novelty act and stay in a good length.
Debbie was a trained dancer and performed on big TV shows with Paul Daniels so the setting won't phase her and with a young hot guy, I bet she'll have a lot of fun, no real pressure on her either.
Nadiya is very hot and will be a firm male favourite.
Being a regular black cab user in Birmingham, the vast majority is now Asian descent. It's interesting to see that the London cabbies are still mainly white background despite London being such a diverse city.
If Uber are not screening their drivers the same that black cab and other private hire firms are expected to then I don't have a lot of sympathy for them.
Sadiq Khan is not solely responsible for this decision so I don't think too much blame should go on him - my political allegiance is more to the right than his btw.
I read it somewhere that Oti said it might be her last year. Janette and Aljaz recently got married although they have been a professional and personal couple for a number of years. In the press around the wedding Janette mentioned it may be her last year - I could understand this as she turns 34 in a few weeks and may want to consider starting a family for example. Doing another year of Strictly would mean she'd then be 35 and thus nearing 36 if she wanted a family for example. They already have tour dates scheduled for next spring so she will certainly be dancing then but may be open minded about another year of Strictly.
Erin left Strictly to have a family but still does her tours with Anton. Interestingly we have never had a female dancer return after having a baby and off the top of my head I think Karen Hardy was only female pro who was a mum when she joined the show.
I've tried to find where I saw about Oti but cannot but as Stagey says above, I'd be more surprised it Oti left compared to Janette though.
Good topic thread - I've always heard that theatres do have lists often private families or people who may put up performers. I figure some of these could be the better off theatre patron type who may enjoy talking about a play/musical with the performer.
You do see a bit of casts renting apartments especially in YouTube clips. Bigger cities have many hotels, often I've been asked by performers when I've Stage Doored how to get to certain areas where they are staying.
More experienced performers will have favourite hotels or probably have set private people they stay with - I'd guess this is useful for performers who sometimes take pet dogs on tours.
University accommodation during the summer may also be used.
Some performers in shorter plays in particular if they are in reasonable travelling distance to home may commute. I'd guess London based performers in shows at Theatre MK may do this for example. A lot depends on good transport links but an hour on the road each way may be preferable if you can sleep in your own bed, also saves money on hotels potentially. I've certainly heard of performers who may only stay over on matinee days as commute and shows are too much but go home on single show days.
Brendan does seem a bit uninterested sometimes but Anton is always useful to pair an older female up with and he actually has a personality which some of the other male dancers don't. Erin and Kristina left to start families, Natalie chose to leave so did Vincent and Flavia so there may not have been as many changes if some of these had stayed.
Janette and I think Ote have talked about leaving after this year so that would mean more newer females next year too.
I'd like to know who chooses the music and the dance content themes, I'd imagine some pros would be quite precious about having creative control over choreography. The music needs to be orchestrated by Dave Arch and co and condensed into dance time.
Plus costumes need to be considered, I know that some especially on the Pros and maybe on the celeb side can be reused/adjusted. But they have to know who will be comfortable wearing what and have some planning. This would be especially true of say Susan Calman who is a different shape to the other ladies so may need more bespoke costumes made.
I don't see why they don't film this week's show in two and show 2nd part on Sunday but you'd need a live full show one week to get the votes open or do Friday and Saturday live week two and then record results after Saturday's show.
Strange mix - two black performers who are more soul based, Cassidy doesn't fit in there. Two UK ladies - Amber odd one out there. One was a pop/soul singer, another more an actress, the other a musical theatre performer. It seems a bit thrown together TBH.
But all are fine performers so will be interesting to hear the final results.
Hope the forum's Gay contingent have recovered from the horror of the photoshoot frocks too!
