I said under the National thread that I could envisage an immediate West End transfer, given it's such a short run at the NT. A well reviewed sold out run in the Olivier could serve it well.

A very short run for Boys from the Blackstuff, maybe around 21 performances only. I see it's a co-pro with Royal Court Liverpool and Bill Kenwright Ltd. I could imagine an immediate transfer to the Haymarket between June and September.

Broadway transfer now confirmed…Barrymore Theatre, previews starting April 1. Will Keen and Luke Thallon are transferring, but Tom Hollander sadly won’t. His role will be played by Michael Stuhlbarg. I’ve checked that Tom is also starring in the upcoming anthology miniseries Feud (created by Ryan Murphy), in which the second part is about Truman Capote and the New York socialites (Tom is playing Truman). Feud is set to premiere in a few days in the US and it’s expected to be an awards player for the Emmys. Check out Patriots Broadway website here: patriotsbroadway.com/Hopefully I get to check this out. Stuhlbarg has been in great stuff as well, the one I remembered was in the Coen Brothers’ film, A Serious Man. He was terrific as the father in Call Me By Your Name.

Yes, and fair enough if they think she's worth shelling out 300 quid to see in an old star vehicle. Producers set a precedent with Cabaret, Cock et al and found the public coughed up. Then they pushed it further, changed the casts to lesser names but kept the prices high and the public still coughed up. The genie is out of the bottle. You're right. Unfortunately.

A lot of Neil Simon's stuff hasn't dated particularly well. The idea of paying £300 to see this is preposterous. As if anyone would have remotely considered forking out more than £50 in 1999 to see Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason in The Prisoner of Second Avenue at the Haymarket! Everyone's lost the run of themselves these days. It's no different to forking out hundreds to see Madonna or Beyonce in concert. It's the chance to see someone you really like/admire doing what they do in the flesh. People aren't paying for the play, they are paying to see SJP live. Yes, and fair enough if they think she's worth shelling out 300 quid to see in an old star vehicle.

So here I am, loitering in the foyer of the Leeds Playhouse. The matinee of Oliver ended 15 minutes ago and the cast have come out to meet their family and friends. A young woman, who I'm afraid I don't recognise, has been having a 'private' discussion with her agent. "I've got you a job you're going to hate me for...Off-stage swing...It's better than it sounds...16 weeks at the Ambassadors.... You'll be covering Rebecca Hyde(?) and whoever replaces Jodie." If only I had bigger ears!!! Naughty you for earwigging and then posting, TallPaul, but that's clearly about Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder!

To be fair I think Gregg Ripley - Duggan's programming this season has been pretty good. Lots I want to see there.

Have to say that, when I read that article, I felt very sorry for the creatives who were named.

Sally Ann Triplett is not continuing with the show after this run. I think Daniel Rigby is unlikely to return. I wonder why.

I much prefer the Delfont Mackintosh approach to sales than the ATG approach used on this show and many others (and I know this is not an ATG production). With DMT the full range of tickets is released with a range of prices and you can decide what to do. They don't really change.
ATG in contrast hold many seats off sale, and dynamically price to the extent that prices can change on a daily basis. Prices are often exorbitant. Later they release swathes of tickets, and sometimes a great deal appears late on, like the £40 tickets for this show. However it's not really fair on those who paid over inflated prices when this went on-sale and must surely damage consumer confidence in the long term.

Could the Grapes of Wrath be the Ben Whishaw play based on a book?

Wonderful drama. So delicately handled. The scene in episode 4 between Monica Dolan and Susan Brown was beautiful.

It is a bit odd that they've said every performance has £40 seats but that's not the case!

I thought it was ridiculously priced when it went on sale, but I couldn't resist £40 for Row F in the Central Stalls.

As far as I can see the £40 seats have been added to the system for dates up to and including 7th March so far. The tweet did say all performances would have these seats so they will surely add the deal to the remaining dates soon.
I have to say, I'd be very miffed if I'd already paid £175 or whatever, but it is a great deal.
