A shame they are seemingly snubbing a London transfer. It didn’t work for Groundhog Day… I agree, I think it's very disappointing that it's going straight to Broadway. I doubt we'll ever see it in the West End now.

Oh sorry thought was something on it or something different as this had been shared since it was announced Only via an IG link I think? I always think it’s nice to have the poster embedded in the thread. I agree. Seeing the artwork is always one of the most exciting bits of a new show announcement!

This will be no small feat as McKellen will be 85. I agree 4 hours is an endurance test for everybody.
I wonder why it didn't go to an ATG venue given they are producing it?

I imagine this will sell very well indeed, though it's a little more niche and avant-garde than Shirley Valentine so is unlikely to have quite the same commercial appeal.

I can't see how it would be financially viable to bring a big musical in for 6 or 7 weeks. The Noel Coward was dark for about 7 weeks between Patriots and Ocean. Maybe the same will happen here. Logistically it can be no different to a tour stop which many shows do up and down the country every week. There is a filler. I don't know what it is, but the rumour I've heard is that a musical is moving in from elsewhere but I don't know if that part is true. Thanks, we'll know soon enough because they'll have to get it on sale ASAP.

It's a shame it's closing 3 weeks early but it hasn't been a bad length of a run overall. But the comparison with Guys & Dolls is interesting, as that shows no sign of running out of steam yet. I wonder why that has fared better than Crazy for You - the immersive factor with G&D perhaps?

As others have said, very pleasantly surprised by the ticket prices. I got a mid Row F stalls ticket for £85.
If this was at an ATG venue, most of the stalls would probably be off sale at this early stage and the prices would be around £125.

I know there are lots of offers but could this extend a little, given that Opening Night doesn't start until 6th March?

A few thoughts from today’s matinee. I got one of the £20 standing tickets in the RC and as my first time up there I was really impressed with the view from where I was stood. So in that regard it was excellent value and I would be more than happy to stand there again for future shows. As the play itself, well I will say that I thought KST was worth the money and held the piece together. Her Act 1 monologue was great but in all honesty i didn’t think this was a great play from Penelope Skinner. A lot great comedy moments that unfortunately diluted the more serious points that Smith was trying to address. I’m not too sure what tone she was aiming for and for me, there wasn’t any emotional investment in any of the characters story arcs. On a more positive note, I did like the set design of Elaine’s house and the sound design was also nice. Overall, I am glad I didn’t end up paying big money for this one. Was everyone off book?

So it looks like this will be going either to the Gielgud after Old Friends, or the Noel Coward after The Motive and the Cue.

The Savoy is announcing something tomorrow morning. I doubt it will be Kiss Me Kate, probably just a filler before Mean Girls. Erm- Mean Girls goes in straight after Plaza Suite? There's nothing in April and May although Mean Girls will need a get in period obviously

Quick question if I may, before I have to deal with ATG’s ‘customer service’… I have a ticket for Lyonesse that as yet has not been taken up on the noticeboard on here or found a buyer on Twickets. The performance is sold out, so if I contact ATG will they resell for me and deduct a fee for doing so, or am I wasting my time even asking them?! Thanks in advance. I had a ticket for a sold out performance of a different ATG West End show which I could no longer attend, and I have to say that, fair play to them, ATG gave me a full refund as they were able to re-sell my ticket. They will only put them on sale again once the show has sold out. So it's well worth asking them. The customer service rings the BO direct to see if they're willing. Let us know how you get on.

What are the views from these like and can you lean against anything?!

Upping this post. It’s now back - well, transferring Off-Broadway! It will be held at St. Anne’s Warehouse, New York. Tobias Menzies is still playing the lead role. almeida.co.uk/whats-on/the-hunt-new-york/Sale opens on Nov. 15, staging from February to March 2024. My family is planning a US trip next year in time for my birthday on March, and I hope to catch this one. Or maybe a Broadway transfer would be great, should it be a bigger success at St. Anne’s, especially that Tobias is now an Emmy winner compared to when this was first staged four years ago. This was very good, but how strange to suddenly bring it back 5 years later.
