Bit of a long shot but does anyone know the name of the song that was played at the end, as in after the lights have gone up? It might be a different song each evening I suppose but it's been bugging me for a few days!

Rather enjoyed this, decent enough story and well acted, did catch the result from the constituency I live in on the TV showing news 24 from election night!
I thought Tamsin Greig was very good, long been a fan of hers but I would like to have seen Sarah Lancashire in the role, think she would have been very good in it.

That sounds like a good idea for a one off cartoon strip in Viz, The Adventures of Charles Dance cadging autographs off his actor mates to flog on eBay!
I think I saw Harry Shearer of Spinal Tap fame in the audience at Labour of Love tonight.

I could be wrong but I think he said £50 notes tonight, wouldn't swear to it though.

Saw Charles Dance heading through the stage door at Wyndham's tonight, he had a programme in hand so I assume he'd been to see Heisenberg, didn't see him in the theatre though.

Agreed, that was more of a possible aside rather than a definite reason. The more general point is that there is probably no absolute reason, just a set of circumstances that came together at the same time that made it catch on.

Funnily enough I'd just Googled and found that too... still doesn't really answer the question! The reality is you'll probably never get an answer to that question, football fans are a funny breed, sometimes something just catches on for no good reason and stays. During the 2004/5 season, the chorus of the tune to Ring of Fire started becoming a thing at Liverpool games, especially during the European Cup run. No real reason for it, Johnny Cash has no discernible links to the team or the city. The story goes that a gang of lads started singing it on a coach trip to an away game, it caught on and became a thing from then on. There was thing reported in the media that there was a bit of an anti Beatles feeling in Liverpool in the 60s after they moved to London and were perceived to leaving Liverpool behind. Ive heard the band refute this and plenty of people from the city say the same but there could have been a feeling amongst some of championing a song by another merseybeat band as a bit of a snub to the Beatles. As others have said, the lyrics are very suited to being a football fan, the idea of going through the bad times with the hope that better times are coming and that sticking together will help things get better is pretty central to the idea of supporting a team.

(I'd love for someone... anyone... to explain why a Rodgers and Hammerstein song set in Maine, USA should have any connection at all with Liverpool, England... ) That dates back to the 60s when Gerry and the Pacemakers released it as a single, the crowd at Liverpool would sing along to the hits of the day during the game, and that one really caught on. This clip doesn't include it but has a couple of examples of the sort of thing: There is a debate as to whether it was Liverpool or Celtic who started singing it first but that's another matter!

I'd agree with much of the above, I saw this this afternoon and really enjoyed it, quite bonkers but that's all to the good!

I was told that George Osbourne was at the same showing of Hamlet at the barbican, the one with benedict Cumberbatch was in, not that I was interested in politics then and now. I saw him at the RSC Much Ado About Nothing at the Haymarket earlier this year.

I know, just seems a shame to have any empty seats when there were so many people who wanted to see this.

Simon Trinder as Trinculo (with more than a hint of Reece Shearsmith as Mr Jelly in Psychoville) Glad it wasn't just me who thought that!

I saw this on Saturday and thought it was excellent, the time flew by. I do have a question for anyone who has seen this before: {Spoiler - click to view} At the start when they are playing Connect Four, Quinn gives Caitlin a tea towel to blindfold herself, on Saturday she seemed to be struggling to get the thing round her head so Paddy asked if she'd like a bigger blindfold. They both started laughing like it was a bit of a blooper rather than something that was supposed to happen. Is that something they have done on other performances or was this a one off blunder?

I've not done a lot of this sort of thing but it struck me at Wyndham's after No Man's Lans how well organised the whole thing was, barriers, clear written and verbal instructions about what would and wouldn't be signed and about the taking of photos. Even though there were a lot of people there, it did seem everyone went along with the spirit of the thing which made for a pretty good experience.
Similarly, I also found after Nice Fish, the ones who seemed to be dealers or general collectors and seemed less likely to have been to see the play, did hang back tomlet those of us who had been get things signed first. Whether that was experience of jostling getting them nowhere I don't know but it did strike me as a decent way to behave.

I cant say this did much for me either, I certainly couldn't see much to justify the level of whooping and standing up at the end. Each to their own I suppose!

I'm due to see this tomorrow. Not enthused by the reviews on here so far but there is a promise of some nudity which might balance it all out. At my time of life I take what I can get. Full frontal man-bits were probably the highlight of the play. This doesn't bode well

Personally I can't imagine anything worse than being dragged up on stage to do something. I'd also like to think that where a production does have an element of this built into it, people should be given an element of choice as to whether they wish to participate and that whatever the interaction is it should be thought through sufficiently as to what happens when it doesn't go the way it's intended to. Reading a comment on the Arturo Ui thread it sounds like the bulk of the audience didn't do what was intended at the end and it all got a bit muddled as a result. Not ideal if people are paying decent money and the thing has fallen apart because they have tried to be a bit too clever.

Same here, from memory my seat is at the end of a row in the stalls which seems a slightly prime position to get picked on, added to that I have prior history with Lenny Henry having been singled out by him at a stand up show of his I went to many years ago! Very much hoping there is an element of choice with this show, I'm sure there are lots of people who like to get involved on stage at things like this, I am very much not one of them!

Just listened to an interview on Radio 4 where it was said that the three surviving members of the Gang of Four have been invited to the press night and are believed to be attending.

Mishal Hussain at Limehouse last night. That's who it was! I knew I recognised the face but couldn't put a name to her, every time I tried to look over to jog my memory it felt like she caught me looking so I had to give up for fear of looking a bit weird! I also saw Adrian Scarborough there last night.

Looking at it, my guess would be some sort of system glitch. When that came up before you could click through and choose from the limited seats available

You can either click a specific date, or click and hold to highlight a range. If you do that, a list appears, telling you which are sold out and which are available. Takes some practise, though, to use that site, I agree. Did you do this on a IPad? I used my iPad as well, once you click on the date you want, it should come up with 'Select Seats' in red at the bottom of the page, if you click on that it should take you through to choose from the available seats.

Completed the pair, with "Much Ado" on Saturday afternoon. It's the stronger of the two, as everyone says, but I think you need to see the pair for the full effect. Deliberate or faked? After the Tree scene, where Benedick comes downstage centre and blows talc into the audience: on Saturday he first dropped a mix of spit and talc onto some poor chump in the front row. Then he appeared to inhale some of the dust and couldn't speak, standing there with his pop-eyed gurn as the audience started laughing. He silenced us with a hand gesture, took a swig of sherry, rolled it around his mouth, paused, then went on with the show. Dunno, from the gurn onwards felt like one of those "fake going wrong" moments to me. Was it? I can't remember exactly but he did something similar when I saw it the weekend before last, maybe just somehthing he throws in every now and again.
