Roxie, I too am so sorry to read of your loss and your illness. Loss, as your other friends on here have said, gets easier, but never goes away. I am going to ask you to focus on yourself and get better, but also to use this time to address the situation with your brother. When you feel stronger, you must have a conversation with him. Even now as you are "out of action" ask him to step up and keep an eye on your dad. Of course that's easy for me to say but remember, you have your life too. Love and best wishes xx

I saw Steel Magnolias in Salford last night and the house was almost full. Spoke to a press rep there who said it has sold well. As for the play, just so-so.

Once again, I have to step in as the arbiter of good taste and tell you the word "dessert" is now an Americanism preferred by the otherwise lovely Ina Garten. You don't hear St Mary of Berry use anything other than "pudding" or sometimes "pud".
Sweets come in a bag by the quarter like Dolly mixtures and pear drops.
You'll thank me one day.

You say that still, even after Liz Truss has trashed the economy? YES!! The whole government is rotten to the core in my humble opinion

Graham Norton will announce the name of the winning city on "The One Show" tonight (7th Oct) Thought it had been announced, a lot of people quietly happy Oh! The BBC website says it's after 7pm tonight, but if it's already been announced, who got it?

They all supped at Johnsons table and as far as I am concerned none of them is fit for the office. However, I reserve my special condemnation for both Suella Braverman who seems a plain nasty piece of work and Nadhim Zahawi who, in a Sky TV interview this weekend admitted he made a mistake in claiming heating payments for his stables. Perhaps it has escaped his self indulgent mind there are thousands of people who can't afford to heat their families or themselves. Get rid of them all.

I was thinking the other day, I doubt I shall get to the west end for theatre again. Travelling from the provinces and the need to plan ahead, ticket prices are at a premium without last minute deals. Add to that sky high train fares plus the cost of food and drink, even without a hotel, it is so expensive.

If you enjoyed Don Black's BBC Radio 2 late night show before it was axed, you might like to know he is now on BBC Radio London 5pm on Sunday, or online for you to enjoy in your own time. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bncc7p

Srdan, thank you for reporting on Musicals in Spain, I have really enjoyed reading your articles. Considering the number of times I have visited Spain, I never thought too much about the theatre scene there. I guess because visits from this British tourist are more about outdoor activities!!
I do particularly recall seeing two theatres in Spain. One was the lovely theatre in Mahon and the modern looking arts centre in Santander. On my next visit, I will certainly look out for more and see what's on.
Thank you again for your reports. x

Any chance of a Damehood should be over after her performance in this. Just abysmal. Well obviously the successful theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh does not agree with you on her performance.

I suspect the remarks made by Dorries are intended as a warning shot across the bows of the BBC because of Johnson's current problems. It is also a useful distraction. They also play well to the tory faithful who read the smail on Sunday where I believe she made her comments.

The curtain music is very much part of the show and deserves every bit of respect.

A couple of weeks ago, I went for our occasional Friday night "chippy tea" to arguably the best chippy in south Manchester. By name it is Church Road chippy in Northenden. My order was to be delayed a few minutes whilst fresh fish and chips were being cooked (a bonus in itself!). As an apology for the delay the owner offered me a "'tater scallop". A thin slice of potato fried in batter. Dear god, it was like christmas and easter rolled into one!!!
