Thanks all for your input. I think he'd sit through it but if it's not got many funny/exciting bits then he'd prob be a bit bored so will give it a miss I think. He'll just have to wait for wicked and Matilda at the end of next year!

Reckon this is ok for a musical loving 6 year old boy? I know it says 7+ but he loves the soundtracks to Matilda, Hamilton, dear Evan Hanson etc.... (translation: I want an excuse to see it...)

No idea why Chris left but when I saw it in Bristol he was there for act 1 and was replaced by the understudy in act 2.... medical reasons I think. Saw it in Cardiff last sat and we had the understudy again (can't remember his name!). He was much better this time as he had clearly had time to prepare rather than being shoved on after the interval!

Fab! Was getting excited about seeing Natasha but still happy to see Sheridan again! Anyone know if Sheridan is back for WMC this week? Seeing it Saturday. Would love to see Natasha as seen Sheridan twice but I know my friends who haven't seen it before will want to see Sheridan! I decided to message the WMC facebook page to find out and according to them she's back.

My 6 year old is now super excited! And they weren't even conceived when this show first opened. They are one of the post-MatildaTheMusicaliarian generation. Haha I have a six year old and a three year old who know all the words and religiously listen to the soundtrack. Don't think I've influenced them into being stagey at all.....

Saw this in Cardiff last night too. Was really excited too see it for the first time having listened to and loved the various recordings.
Wow...! I mean I knew from the reviews it would be good but just wow!!! Each and every member of the cast was flawless! The set and lighting really worked and I was captivated from start to finish. Lucie, Shanay and Phillippa were standouts for me but I really couldn't fault a single performer. Definitely a cast and show I would love to see again.

Chris peluso taken ill in the interval in Bristol last night. Shame as he was fab in the first act. Understudy for the second act did really well in the circumstances! Must be so difficult going on at such short notice mid show! Hope chris is ok.
Sheridan was, if anything, better than when I saw it at the savoy! Great show.

Well the last performance was everything I expected and more. Sheridan was superb and gave it everything. You could tell she was having the best time, with a few extra improv bits thrown in. Huge ovation when she first appears on the stage and extended applause at the end of every song. Massive reception for the rest of the cast too. At the end there was a standing ovation for the cast right from the beginning which was wonderful to see and when Sheridan appeared the noise was deafening. Flowers presented to the cast by the crew and also Sonia Friedman and David Babani. The most wonderful gesture was right at the end when everyone left the stage and Sheridan then walked back on with Natasha to take the applause (Natasha had not been performing in the evening show)it really was lovely. I didn't do the stage door but had a look and it was absolutely heaving so kept well away. Really magical night. Wish I could have been there for the final show! Looking forward to Cardiff and Bristol now!

Has anyone heard any confirmation that Sheridan is doing all 7 shows at the other venues or will she not do the midweek matinees?? I wonder as they have no monday show, that may be so she could do all in the week or is that wishful thinking?? Cardiff has said she won't do wed matinee so maybe just contact the venue?

As I watch clips though of her in LB, I can't believe how good she is!! I 100% think she is better than LBB (even though some may disagree) because I just think she plays the part with so much more charisma and natural comedy that she's hilarious!! Would've loved to have seen this show when it was in London. Oh and I think Denise Van Outen is actually good in this!! I think the original oepening cast was stellar though! Peter Davidson, Duncan James, Jill Halfpenny and Sheridan Smith = AMAZING!! I agree George about Denise. Don't think she's a good as Jill halfpenny but think she does the comedy well! If we had a time machine we could travel back to see the original London cast! (I prefer SS to LBB too)

Amazing! So glad the SS version is up now! Never got to see her in it but wish I had! Love this! Loved her in FG too. She can do no wrong in my eyes! Ah she's amazing isn't she?! So so hope she does more theatre roles in the future - never got to see LB either but sooo wish I did!! She's amazing in FG! I know! Seeing FG again twice on the tour! Fingers crossed for another LB tour too. Have only seen an amueter production of it which was great but would love to see a professional show!

That's Simon Thomas. He was my favourite Warner during the London run. Denise van Outen on the other hand - just no. I don't mind Denise in this but I agree that SS doesn't seem to put her all into it as she usually does. Maybe she was s bit under the weather that day...

Just seen this - a full video of the London show!!! I never got to see this so I am thrilled to finally watch it in full!
Sheridan is so amazing in this show and as Elle - hilarious! Also really like Denise Van Outen as Paulette.
For people who have seen both - do you prefer SS in this or Funny Girl? Amazing! So glad the SS version is up now! Never got to see her in it but wish I had! Love this! Loved her in FG too. She can do no wrong in my eyes!

I was at the matinee on Saturday on what should have been the final day after the first extension, and they they extended again ... Oh, how I loved it! Loved! It! Sheridan is a big weepy thing at the end (and my son and girlfriend who went in the evening said the same). Thought she was in great voice. Darius is absolutely " gorgeous"! I always thought it was good casting, dismissing the early comments from others of "wooden" on the other board; I'd say he's improved immeasurably, his voice is lovely, he has *HUGE* stage presence. The rest of the cast work their socks off, there isn't a feeling that it's getting stale after 10 months run. Very well received by the audience. Back for the final matinee next month Wish I could see this again in London but I'll just have to wait for the tour. Re: Darius - yes he was gorgeous and we met him at stage door after. He was a real gent! So lovely and made time to speak to everyone. He really surpassed my expectations on the role!

Been reading this board for a while but first time posting! Saw this at last yesterday and I thought it was sensational! Sheridan and Darius just fantastic and the show itself brilliant. Have just booked to see the tour in Cardiff and can't wait for the cast to be announced!! Welcome to the forum! Bearing in mind this is now the 2991st post in this thread it's safe to say that Funny Girl has been the talk of the board this year. Here's to the next 3000... Haha yes! Well deserved discussion I think! So glad I finally got to see it!
