a ripple of hope
1918. 1968. 2018. Three distinct and remarkable women illuminate this cleverly distilled contemporary retelling of Henrik Ibsen's play A DOLL'S HOUSE across three pivotal decades.
Nora Helmer tries hard to be the perfect wife, the perfect mother, the perfect homemaker but under the veneer she's close to cracking. Finding herself at an impassable crossroad, Nora has a radical decision to make.

Behold - Mary.
A council-funded robot.
Behind the crumbling walls of St Grace's Convent, an exhausted order of nuns needs resurrecting. As Easter approaches, Mother Elizabeth has just the thing. Behold 'Mary', a council-funded robot. The Dewsbury Players unlikely but mighty hero!
As the first female speaker of the House of commons, Betty Boothroyd is a Dewsbury girl to celebrate, and the six ladies (plus Calvin) of The Dewsbury Players are going to do just that... through the medium of musical theatre! Their high-kicks may be wobbly, their acting 'enthusiastic' and the props left over from a production of MISS SAIGON; but, tonight, the Village Hall is their theatre of dreams!
Boothroyd the musical, who saw that one coming.
