Do we think "Comet" will get a transfer to London following its success on Broadway or is the hype there all due to the casting of Josh Groban who attracts a huge fanbase?
I just can't make up my mind about this show. One half of me thinks it's ingenious and inspired, having fun with a bit of a literature classic hardly anyone tackles due to its sheer size, using funky modern music and an innovative staging... The other half of me thinks the music is godawful and they picked one of the dumbest sections of War and Peace to turn into some sort of teenage soap opera for the ADHS millenials that doesn't do justice to Tolstoy's characters at all, least of all Pierre.
I would quite love to see it live to see what I think of it then and if Groban came over with it, that would be just about perfect. Otherwise there isn't really much on Broadway presently that I'd need to come over.

(He said for those interested, after hearing my accent/that I was from the UK that "The West End would love this show wouldn't they?" to which I said of course "Yes come over")
Personally I loved it, though granted I have limited knowledge of and little attachment to the novel. I loved how playful it was with both musical theatre form and with the source material, and it looks feels and sounds so different to anything else on Broadway that I loved it. I said to viserys at the time that it really felt like a musical the NT would do in the Olivier...so I'd be happy for it to be adopted by them.
