The show needs to be "sold" more?? Looks full all the time. They need to announce the extension first if they want to “sell” it to more people who haven’t yet heard much about it. To clarify, I meant “sell” as in “showcase” the show a little bit more as Alexander Hamilton is the song that they did at the Oliviers and appears on all of the Spotify/Apple Music Musical playlists when it’s not actually the best representation of the show. I’m still obsessed with the show but when I mention Hamilton to people there’s still quite a lack of knowledge around what it actually is. Apart from the Oliviers, it hasn’t really had a showcase for the British public.

I agree too. My Shot, Helpless and Yorktown would have been far better to perform to give a representation of the show without giving away any plot, and still using all of the cast. It makes no sense to do the same song as they did at the Oliviers.

I beat the jetlag to make my final visit before cast change tonight (unless I win the lottery or am crazy enough to try the returns queue next week), and as a result finally saw practically the full cast for the first time since my first visit in previews! Only a couple of ensemble were off, all the main cast were on.
It was interesting how my view on Giles' performance has changed after seeing Sifiso multiple times since - the latter's version of Burr has grown on me and I think I now prefer Sifiso to Giles. Giles seemed to be rushing quite a bit tonight, though I did appreciate a lot of the subtleties in his performance, especially when he is in the background.
I still struggle to understand Jason sometimes as Jefferson and most of the time as Lafayette. The rest of the leads are still as good as always - Rachelle in particular continues to add further layers to Eliza.
But for me the best people on stage were the ones who are leaving - Mike Jibson has added a few more eccentricities as the King since last I saw him; Obioma continues to utterly command the stage and bring the house down with One Last Time; and every time I think Rachel can't get any better, she does. There were more layers to Angelica tonight, and a bit more sass. The latter two especially will be sorely missed in my opinion and I can't wait to see what they do next.
I tried deliberately to watch the ensemble as much as possible as well - all were wonderful and from a central grand circle seat (C19 - utter bargain at £37.50 as the safety rail doesn't cause any issues whatsoever - best seat I've had in 5 visits!) I was able to fully appreciate the spectacle and intricacies of the choreography.
The incoming cast have a lot to live up to!

Pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'm going for the 2nd time this evening and I forgot to bring my passport. I can go home after work and dash back but just in case, has anyone ever had luck getting in without official ID? I have an NUS card with my photo but assume this won't be enough. Any help appreciated.

I've seen it 5 times and they never asked for my ID. They just checked the email and credit card. Once I even forgot it at home, but they didn't even asked for it. But even if they do ask you I don't think you'll have any problems if you have the email and credit card. They have lots of people to get into the theatre and they want to do it quickly and smoothly.

I didn't even have the card at the weekend as I changed banks ages ago and completely forgot about the booking! They just checked my ID and email confirmation, so it does seem as if two of the three is sufficient.
As a bonus I also got a proper ticket as I had to go to the box office!

On the flip side, out of the 4 times I’ve been they asked to see all 3 items every time. I guess it just depends who you interact with on the door.

Yeah, I’ve been 7 times and the most recent visit was the only time I wasn’t asked for ID - I don’t know if it’s because I went in a bit later than all the other times, or if they’d just always been more vigilant door staff before.

(but, then, would anyone sane want to see my passport photo anyway?). I would have thought most people would like monkey photos ;-)

I think I’ve finally done myself an injury watching Hamilton. I must have clapped so hard after One Last Time that I’ve bruised my hands!
Sifiso on as Hamilton tonight but otherwise all main players. It really was the Tarrin Callender show tonight however. He was just on fire with his expressions throughout and had everyone laughing. Lots of tears too - never seen Giles not be able to make it through a couple of lines at the end of The World Was Wide Enough due to emotion.
Jon-Scott Clark (beardy Swing) did step forward at the end for some extra applause, then the rest of the guys jumped on him as they were all exiting the stage. Really wish I could be there on Saturday.

I'm very jealous of my friend. He booked for the show on Saturday without knowing that it was cast change. I wish I could be in the room that day!

Giles Terera's disregard for the demands of the role for which he won an Olivier really is quite something. Why did he accept the part if he was going to appear in it so irregularly? (I know virtually no one who has seen the show who has ACTUALLY seen him in it)

I've seen the show three times and Giles was there every time.
I'm having a déja vu.

Maybe take it up with the company manager/producer if you really have a problem with it. 🙄

Are you saying that a person with a possible hidden disability shouldn't get the job he is qualified to perform? Are you aware of his contract details? Are you sure wording it like that is ok? Just asking.

I've seen Hamilton in London just once and Giles was playing Burr that evening - and doing a terrific job.
It may be the luck of the draw. I've twice booked for 42nd Street to see Ashley Day and twice he's been out. I adore Danielle Steers in Bat and yet she's been out three times of the seven times I've seen the show since it opened in April. Still I wouldn't think either of them has a "disregard" for the role they play, I've just been unlucky.

(I know virtually no one who has seen the show who has ACTUALLY seen him in it) I've seen him 2 times out of 5, which is good enough for me - I like seeing different interpretations of roles! I've also tried to see Samantha Barks in 3 different shows and failed each time, so I think it's certainly just luck of the draw...

I failed to see Beverley Knight in The Bodyguard twice but managed 2/2 for Memphis. Saw Sheena Easton only once in 42nd Street out of 4 tries. I remember being disappointed not seeing Richard Madden for Romeo and Juliet too, but I don’t think he could have saved that production either way.

Sounds like it’s not worth trying to get an elusive ticket before cast change then, as there’s likely to be a few leads off every day, even this week?

Not sure why Jamael (who hasn’t been on yet this week) or Giles were off, but this was a scheduled ‘one-off’ Eliza show for Christine (assuming they were giving her another go before she leaves) - Rachelle should be back from tomorrow, and I imagine the others will also be doing all they can to be on.

They were collecting for MadTrust and World AIDS Day tonight, so I got the opportunity to tell Rachel John how wonderful she’s been over the past year on the way out. I will really miss her Angelica.
I’m glad I managed to get along to a show this week, to see the cast members who were off on my last visit once more. I still can’t comprehend how Obioma didn’t get an Olivier nomination - he is phenomenal. I’m almost glad I won’t be there to witness his final One Last Time, it was already far too emotional for me tonight! I’m also really pleased I was able to see Christine as Eliza - a beautiful performance all-round.

My next visit will be for the new cast in 3 weeks time. I will try the lottery for this Saturday though, but then again I've tried hundreds of times and never won.
