It makes for a facinating night of TV. Also the Cam Mac documentary on Sky Arts last night as lots of Sondheim in it as well as the man himself talking. At the end they said that the interview took place 10 days before he died.

There was a continuation of Sondheim last night on BB4 with both West Side Story and Into The Woods being screened back to back

Also really enjoyed the Omnibus documentary, it was fun spotting young Di Botcher, Clare Burt and Geraldine Fitzgerald. Does anybody happen to know if anything became of the work of the students he was teaching? I wondered if somebody might recognise them. The ‘Sondheim at the BBC’ compilation was good too, if a little over-reliant on West Side Story numbers.

I believe one of them was Edward Hardy who later went on the write the lyrics to the first version (of many) of Martin Guerre, and who was applauding outside the Sondheim at the light dimming earlier this month.

Oh yes, the one who said songwriting was going to be “bloody hard work”. Found a pic of him. Thanks!

I'll be there. I think we'll all be dead by the time DB finishes this biography that was commissioned centuries ago, but it's nice there will be performances too so this seems a nice way to spend a Sunday evening.

I wonder if this will serve as launch to the book? If not, I've heard DB talk before and found him fascinating plus I love Jenna so I'm a happy camper.

The Inside Out style project sounds fascinating. Shame he didn't get the work done before others produced a similarly themed show. Any clues what the show that prompted him to give up on it was?

Fascinating interview with Jonathan Tunick, who "is adapting the score of “A Little Night Music” for full orchestra, rendering it more suitable for performance by symphony orchestras and in opera houses. He will conduct a concert and recording of the new version this year".
