I can't find another thread for this but I think it's opening tonight. Is anyone going? I am booked to go soon knowing next to nothing about it but I really like this:

Very rousing! Same producer as Six apparently.
As it cant be squeezed into the thread title it’s at the MAST Mayflower Studios Southampton from 6th to 20th November.

Another sneak peek! Maybe the final number in the show?
Running time is 70 minutes according to the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse website.

Ooh you beat me to it. Sounds like a final number doesn't it? Very poppy & catchy.

The full tour is going to be much longer than the five dates above. At Sheffield's Lyceum from 31 May to 5 June 2022, for example.

Any news about a London showing?

If Chichester and Southampton are typical the ticket prices are exceptionally reasonable. I'm booked at Chichester, all seats £10-£25 there.
Still remember my first visit to Six at the Arts Theatre in a £6 seat so hopefully this will achieve similar success.

I had been going to book for this until I saw the very short running time and realised I didn't want to go all the way to and from Chichester just for that and in the winter. However, it does otherwise sound very tempting so I hope it travels idc. And bizarrely, the running time has now vanished from the CFT site.

Having now found the estimated running time (70 mins) on the show's own site rather than CFT's, I think that must be where I originally found it. Should it turn out nearer the time to be a bit longer, worth the trip but otherwise I'll hold off.

Just got back from tonight's viewing at the Liverpool Playhouse and unfortunately this really didn't do much for me I'm afraid. Based on the picture book by Kate Pankhurst, at the start we are introduced to a young girl called Jade and her stuffed toy bear called Bearonce (who even gets a credit in the programme!) in a museum and Jade is trying to sort out a few home issues. Through the show we are taken on a journey with Jade with some of the ladies who have helped shape the world who try to help her solve these issues.
The different ladies are played by the cast of 4 accompanied by the band of 3 (2 keys and 1 percussion) who are perched high up on the stage set which is made to look like a disused room in a museum. For me the show felt like something of a kids educational show rather than something like SIX. During the show, each personality explains what they have done in their lives. As 12 women are detailed, it really is a whistle-stop tour of each lady over the 75 minutes with many of the characters combining in some songs rather than getting their own number.
Song List -
I'm Here Where Do You Want To Go? Deeds Not Words A World Of Colour Mary, Mary and Marie FiFi Super Spy Lullaby Litle Girl Fantastically Great
The songs aren't that bad but none stuck in my head walking out of the theatre. I think it's trying to be like SIX but for me doesn't work. The SIX songs stuck with me post show, these ones didn't. I just didn't get that wow factor with this show. If you've got young kids then probably this may work for them, but as an adult It was just ok.

Oh I started this thread then forgot to post my thoughts, oops. So I saw this and mostly agree with david's review, though I probably enjoyed it more. I thought the songs were pretty good, a couple in particular did really stick in my head (the released ones, so maybe that helped), and it's performed very enthusiastically by a likable cast.
It does seem to be aimed at a pre-teen audience though - it's a sweet, fun little show but I don't think it can appeal in the way Six does because it's pitching so young. I went with a friend rather than my daughter (oops) and felt like I'd very much miscalculated and should have had my 11 year old with me!

I travelled by train to Chichester to see FGW at 7pm last night and enjoyed it very much. The audience was 90% adult but ranged from pre teens to bus pass holders like me and - apart from one couple who left after 20 minutes - the reaction was extremely positive. It's educational as well as entertaining and as such ideal for families or a school party and I note there's a well-booked 10.30 performance today. Saturday is almost sold out. I wouldn't say any of the musical number scale the heights of Six but most are certainly catchy, it zips along and the cast are great especially the young lady who played Jade. It was supposed to finish at 20.10, started at 19.08 and ended at 20.26 so I'd say closer to 80 minutes running time. Pleased to see all non mask wearers being approached by staff with a supply and asked whether exempt, several accepted and put one on. Lovely theatre and my front row centre stalls ticket only cost £15 with a similar amount spent on the rail travel thanks to cheap advance tickets.

I live in Stratford, Stratford East is a ten minute walk from my front door, and all three of my children have been to local schools. I can see this production really appealing to those for drama trips - a good introduction to live theatre for youngsters who don't routinely get to go 'up West' for shows. Good call by the theatre to put this on. Should hit the same seam as the previously staged Glasgow Girls and The Wolves.

I saw this in Stratford on Saturday and had a great time. It was my third time after the opening venue of Southampton and closing venue of Chichester in the first tour. It has gone through a bit of work with a new opening song, new pre-set which is used during the first song and more. I didn't like that Jade is no longer played by a child. While the actress playing her was great (and the understudy at that) I really liked in the original one that it gave a chance to shine to a younger actress. I know having a few girls so they can alternate is tricky, especially touring though. I'll spoiler the next bit {Spoiler - click to view}Bearonce has been removed and Jade is no longer hiding on purpose looking for adventure, she is left behind and her absence isn't noticed by the teachers. I still find it odd as well that a different actress plays Anne Frank. She wasn't credited in the original programme so I assumed it was a late change but I still don't think she is credited in the new programme. It means it is definitely a cast of Six, I am not sure if they are trying to make a link to that show or not! I see the show is off to Edinburgh, I hope it has a life after that too, but I cannot see it landing in a West End Theatre.

Booked to see it again in Canterbury with my partner but no longer looking forward to it quite so much. If School Of Rock and Matilda can tour with a whole group of talented youngsters I am surprised and disappointed that (presumably young but) an adult actress now has the lead role. Especially given the title it does seem inappropriate to have an adult play a child role It's a perfect show for school-age groups being both entertaining and educational but I think that to see someone of their own age group take the leading role would make it more inspirational and special for most young people.

Very cute show, although I’ll agree it compared unfavourably to Six. The songs were fun, the book scenes a bit laboured. Great for school groups though!

Anyone seen this yet?
We’ve booked to see it in Chichester in February. Heard one of the songs on EP’s Sunday show and liked it so thought we’d take a punt.
