Oooo Ben's final curtain today got me all emotional. No speeches, just how the audience loved him so much even when the lights came up, he had to go out again because no one would leave! www.pscp.tv/w/1zqJVMpdXqMGB

Nice. But I really never knew how people were capable of doing this "whaaaaw" sound at the end of songs or curtain calls. I just can't do that kind of sh*t with my voice.

So I decided to get Spotify Premium due to it only being 99p (Yes, only 99 pence) for new customers for the first 3 months. I listened to a bit of nostalgic music from my childhood then I finally moved onto musical theatre, even though I'm never usually a fan of cast recordings. I'm much more a visual person with musicals and their songs.
I decided to give Evan Hansen a go since it appeared at the top of the musical section, and DAMN does this show have bloody good songs. I understand the hype for this one having never understood the hype of Hamilton.
Come to London please

This has probably been discussed but I don't want to read the whole thread - chances of this coming to London?

So Ben sang 'Somewhere' from 'West Side Story' at the Grammys this weekend as part of a tribute to Leonard Bernstein. And here it is for those who love the Plattster.

Testing the water. I brought the script a while ago, as I couldn't afford a trip to NY to see the show - next best thing, read the script. Having read it now, and have an additional copy in the big white book that I got this is surplus. Would anyone be interesting in buying it? Its been read once, in great condition and a shame to have it just sat on a shelf not put to better use. Size-wise its a5 height.

Finally saw DEH on Saturday afternoon. It was the show I was most looking forward to and it absolutely lived up to it. I thought it was absolutely stunning. I had heard the cast recording (umpteen times) but knew very little of the story. I found it very emotionally hard hitting, more than I thought I would. I think everybody can, to a certain extent, relate to something that the characters are going through, whether that's Evan or his mum, or Zoe or her parents. The performances were astounding. We had Michael Lee Brown as Evan and he blew me away. Never mind the fact that he sung the score with ease, it was his acting that did it for me, so emotive. I really liked Laura Dreyfuss as Zoe- my friend wasn't quite so convinced, finding her quite standoffish, but I think that's the way the part was written/directed. Rachel Bay Jones sounded in need of a vocal rest. She was great, but you could hear in her voice that she was struggling. I'm trying to keep this short so won't go into depth on every single cast member! I thought the set design worked well, a clever use of projections. It's one of those shows that in some future year, could be performed in a black box with little set and would still be just as effective. Five stars. Do you think it would well in the West End?

Thanks @eldermillan, we've had a great time! Lots of months of saving and planning. But we got very cheap flights and reasonable accommodation, so all in all it hasn't been too bad financially!

That’s got to be a kick in the teeth for Noah Galvin hasn’t it?! Not good enough for Broadway fulltime, so stepped into the role between Ben leaving and Taylor starting... and now not good enough to lead the first US tour?!

Well... based on word of mouth and on what little I could hear in recordings appeared on YouTube at some point (which of course are not the best to get an exact idea, but they may be enough to notice not too great vocals), Noah Galvin wasn't good enough full stop .

We had the misfortune of seeing Noah Galvin giving a completely one-note performance in the lead just after BP had left. With all the talent out there, I can’t understand what the thinking was in casting him. I know he has a TV profile in the States, but I very much doubt that this show would need to cash in on that to boost an audience. It must have been hard for the original cast to work alongside such a dud. It did have the overall feeling of a cast phoning it in the night we saw it. We were very disappointed with the performance we saw, especially as we’d been listening to the soundtrack a lot in the lead up to going to see it and we imagined that even without Ben Platt, the show would be rock solid. It just shows how dependent this particular show is on having a lead who really understands the issues that Evan is struggling with, rather than just an actor gurning, speed talking and writhing his way through the performance.

He's not that famous, isn't he? He was the star of The Real O'Neals, and that's pretty much it.

His face was definitely all over bus stops and internet kiosks in Midtown manhattan when the show was running, though. Of all the non-Platts in the show, he might have the most non-New York recognition from the general public, but I wouldn't call him famous.

Wow this is an A star tour cast! Jessica Phillips is wonderful and the other two adults are top notch. I also just found out that tour Evan Hansen is dating Broadway Evan Hansen. It takes gays who like to date their clones to a higher level.

The first track from the deluxe album 'Part of Me' is available now, and I can't stop listening to it. It's not as strong as You Will Be Found (which eventually replaced it), but still beautiful nonetheless.
