It's Rocky Horror! No one is (or will ever be) Tim Curry

Burly, take that "Picture" out of the heading, it's bringing my OCD back.

I suppose some kind of audio-vibratory-physio-molecular transport device?

I'm tentatively excited for this. I have no doubts that Annaleigh Ashford will be anything less than brilliant and I'm hopeful for Ryan McCartan as Brad - I thought he was pretty great in Heathers.

Why is a woman playing Frank? Laverne is the first trans actress to play the role, it's an interesting choice

Have only just seen this thread... two things: Annaleigh is the only saving grace for me too, she is a pretty incredible talent! And as for the Laverne Cox casting, I guess it is just a gender-blind role. Women have played Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. As long as they perform it right, who cares?

It's hardly in Richard's interests to be bigging up a new movie version Picture Show though is it? That cash cow has been keeping him in skinny leggings and gold lamé jackets for the last 30 years. I've not heard him bemoan some of the hideous casting in the stage version abd there's been plenty!

But presumably he would also get royalties from the new version?

If I've understood correctly, the rights were sold to Lou Adler so 20th Century Fox own anything on screen. Richard O'Brien gets little in the way of royalties for anything on screen, but has more involvement creatively and financially with anything on stage.
I believe those complications meant there could only be one cinema broadcast of the recent Playhouse production, and that's also why it's unlikely that the broadcast would ever get a DVD release.

Is this going to be live? Judging by the trailer it looks like it's already been filmed?!

No, it was never planned to be a live event. What they mean by live is that the vocals were allegedly done live but we'll have to wait and see if that is actually true

NowTV Movies pass for £10 no subscription I guess. Annoying they've put this on a Cinema channel rather than Arts or Atlantic though. I might wait for a later repeat on another's channel.

I've just watched it and I'm a bit underwhelmed. There is nothing particularly wrong with it (a part from Reeve Carney), but probably the original is so iconic that it's hard to see another movie version of it. It's not as grotesque as it should be imho. But it's fun!
