I'm also reminded of seeing Liza in concert, probably her last tour, when there was a real tension on some of the songs as to whether she'd hit the money note. Edge of the seat stuff, me and my pal were almost clutching eachother. But because she was herself, and not acting, it just brought an added thrill and dimension to it all. And she DID get every note. And she was, and is, fabulous.

Is Lonny Price director of Sunset, the same Lonny Price that playsNeil Kellerman in 'Dirty Dancing'?

I loved it and her in it but it was not sold out in London. Either way, I really hope it's true and she's Norma.

I loved it and her in it but it was not sold out in London. (Maybe) Because of ticket prices? Either way, I really hope it's true and she's Norma. I do too

I'm sure ticket prices had something to do with it. Then again, up in the Balcony where I was, it wasn't full and the seats were very affordable.

ALW and Glenn Close have wanted to do a film version for almost 20 years but Paramount were never interested. I'll be curious who they cast for Joe and Betty At this point they’d be fools not to want to do it. I understand wanting to protect the original movie, but there’s serious money to be made from allowing ALW to do a movie version. Perhaps they saw Evita, then POTO and decided ALW doesn’t translate well to the big screen? However Glenn Close is so amazing in it (and perhaps more respected now?) that casting her would surely sell a enough tickets to make more than a few million. Plus the movie musical isn’t as obscure a genre as it was back in the 90s. Anyway, Glenn better win the Oscar for it. Long overdue. I imagine the success that La La Land and Beauty and the Beast has had has made Paramount reconsider how Sunset Boulevard could do. It doesn't need a huge budget, maybe $40-65m and it would be profitable if it made $150-200m WW

They need a star for Joe, because Glenn Close alone won't sell all around the world

If they get one for Betty, it'd be a bonus. Amanda Seyfried. Do you want your legs slapped young man? Don't be putting horrific ideas like that out into the world. Someone might take you seriously! ...we've had enough of her twee underpowered trilling in movie musicals. Theres a Disney girl called Bridget Mendler who has both the pipes and the right 'steely girl next door' look for Betty.

Of course! Why didn't I think of that? That's the casting sorted then. Do people actually get paid to do that?

I'm struggling for a Max... If they get a good Joe and Betty, they could probably afford to go with someone not as well known for Max couldn't they? Like a Victor Garber or such like . .
