I don't know the Birmingham Rep. Is it a large theatre, in terms of proscenium size rather than audience capacity? Ever since the show started I've been wondering how they'll manage the vents & rope scenes on a tour. I mean it's scary enough for the actors hanging off the top of the Criterion's small proscenium arch but I do not envy the future tour cast if they have to hang off a proscenium twice the height! Or whether the tour will install a fake proscenium at each venue so the actors aren't so far up, at the risk of blocking balcony views.

The REP's stage and pros arch is quite large actually, but like most big venues, masking and false arches are used if the show is on tour or intended to tour after (I haven't seen The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, so I wouldn't know what requirements it would need, but I imagine it would be achievable on tour).

I wonder if the tour will be alongside the London production or will they close the London production?

Are there any loud gunshots? I hate guns in plays...

Are there any loud gunshots? I hate guns in plays... Correct me guys if I’ve misremembered but I believe there is at least one gun shot.

Great to hear its extended through November 2018, I do wonder which if the two Mischief plays will be the first to bow out in the West End? I doubt it will happen anytime soon for either!

In case anyone other than me is keeping track, tonight was the last show for Hannah-Kate Boyd, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Chris Pizzey & Miles Yekkini. The "new" cast start tomorrow (only 3 people are actually new), apart from Chris Leask who's busy in Salford with ACCGW so is starting next week.
The downside of having cast change on a Tuesday (apart from the fact I'll be knackered for the rest of the week!) was that the audience were somewhat thin on the ground. No speech at the end to say people were leaving. I was the only person at stage door & I had to go for my train before most of the cast exited. Basically, anyone who's experienced a Wicked cast change, this was pretty much the polar opposite!

This afternoon's performance was, well, interesting. Act 1 went fine but when Act 2 started there seemed a bit of a delay & then a few minutes in, at the end of the 3rd telephone scene, the show was stopped due to sound problems. After about 10 minutes, and some experimental playing of music, it restarted. Then at Cooper's final appearance, picking up Warren with the seagulls, it wasn't Laurence Pears doing it but Mike Bodie, in his ensemble clothing & with the line changed to "This is Deborah and Simon, and Cooper's over there"! Apparently Laurence injured an elbow in Cooper's death drop & packed off to hospital to get checked. Whichever hospital is nearest to the West End must be sick to death by now of dealing with cast members injured in Mischief shows!

In case anyone's interested, Charlie Russell was back as Caprice yesterday & today, having also done a show the Sunday before last. I managed to squeeze in seeing her, thanks to there being an extra matinee today. I'm not sure if her acting's got even better in the last 10 months or if I'd just forgotten how good she was as Caprice. Jack Whittle was also on for Sam, having debued this past weekend. I think he's very good in the role. Acting excellent & even in the few days from seeing him on Saturday to seeing him today the physicality was improved (this is usual with understudies & replacement casts in Mischief shows, it always takes a bit of time for them to be at ease with the intense physicality). Considering this was only their 2nd show opposite each other they also had very good chemistry.

I saw this last week - having not seen it since the original cast left, and overall wasn't impressed. There were an uncountable number of jokes which just fell flat due to weak delivery. The fact that the audience weren't as into it as previous became obvious in the silence during Chris Leask's one/three man fight routine - which certainly was not due to him being any different than he was a year ago.
I don't feel it would be fair for me to comment on individuals in a negative light however, so I won't mention anything more specific.
It's still good, I won't pretend otherwise - but it is not great at the moment.

Mike was on as Robin. Otherwise full cast. Oh, right. I was wondering if it was a bit off when you saw it if there were lots of understudies on but just 1 shouldn't make a difference, especially as Mike's been on for Freeboys a number of times recently.

The current cast were limping through, getting very few laughs from the audience, and it was no doubt because of the delivery. Chris’ line about his directorial dayboo only mustered a half hearted titter, which made his subsequent reaction to being laughed at very unnecessary. The charm of the original cast of Mischief Theatre is very hard to emulate, it seems.

The charm of the original cast of Mischief Theatre is very hard to emulate, it seems. I'd agree with that for TPTGW. While I have seen a number of good individual performances from replacement actors, I don't think that any of the replacement casts have been as strong as an overall unit as the original cast. (I am, however, less certain what I think about TCAABR.)

Saw this tonight. What can I say, I love it. Definitely the best Mischief show to date.
Seat C22 in the stalls is amazing. It's sold as restricted view but you don't miss a thing! And it cost me just £21.50.
There was a guy in the audience laughing in the weirdest way, he even made Chris Leask break character for a moment (btw isn't he the cutest thing ever?).

My personal preference is B22, which I've occupied so many times I feel I should have one of those adopt-a-seat plaques for it, but C22 is my 2nd choice. The amazing bargains that some of the barely-restricted view seats offer are definitely one of the reasons I've been able to notch up so many TCAABR viewings. Who, Chris or the laugher in the audience?

@theatremonkey Next time I'll remember to post the disclaimer "Other articles are available"! I just linked to the first one I read. They have the same blurb anyway.

Forgive random question but does anyone know where the original TPTGW team (Dave, the Henries, Nancy, Charlie, etc.) are now? Movie Night? They have so many shows and transfers I've lost track!

They have so many shows and transfers I've lost track! 5 of the original West End TPTGW cast did MMN: Jonathan, Henry S, Henry L, Dave & Charlie. Rob, Nancy & Greg didn't. Rob was doing panto in I think Ipswich, Greg doesn't do the improv shows & Nancy is involved in rehearsing the new TCAABR cast among other things.
