JustFran I was just going to share the link as I’ve just seen it aswell. Getting more excited as the days go by and I’m thinking of all the cities in the UK I haven’t been to so I can coincide a bit of sightseeing with seeing the show again! All of the cast were amazing before at Ipswich and Hornchurch, not just Dan and Emma. Check out interview with Emma by Martin Ballard on BBC Radio Leicester today, about 12.16 minutes in.

I might try see this when it comes to Edinburgh. They are doing £13 tickets in the front row which look to be a good deal, and it’s a show that’s been on my radar for a while.

Any recomendations for the seats? Or travelling from London? Does anyone know if it is possible to get to London from Bath after the evening show?

Does anyone know if it is possible to get to London from Bath after the evening show? Trains times can of course change for either planned or emergency engineering, but there are trains from Bath Spa to London Paddington at 22:13 and 22:53 on Monday to Friday, 22:10 and 22:55 on Saturday.

Be very careful of the pillars in the circle, they get in the way of quite a few seats. I wouldn’t say there’s a bad seat in the stalls. Train station is only 5-7 minute walk from the theatre, so definitely achievable to catch the show and get the train back to London.

I’m driving down coz staying a couple of nights. Seen the trailer on YouTube??? Aww loving the trailer! 42 days, 6 hours and 50-smth minutes till I am back to my happy place... Last week marked 6 years since I saw this musical for the first time. And it still stays my most precious and important one in my life. (well, maybe sharing the pedestal with Hamilton)

Oh gosh. This one of of the most boring, disappointing, uneventful musicals I've ever seen. Didn't get it at all.

Is it acceptable to report people for lack of taste? Asking for a friend.

Oh gosh. This one of of the most boring, disappointing, uneventful musicals I've ever seen. Didn't get it at all. Truly couldn't agree more! The story was totally unrealistic. The score is dull as you like. It's basically all reprises of the same song. And this production of the show is tacky. No expense spent on the set. Smallest set I've probably ever seen. 99% of the show happens front and centre with no movement. And a really, really cheesy clip art scene projection. Peter Rowe's direction is bad. It was one of the worst things I saw last year.

I know it is kinda not a nice thing to say. And that tastes differ. But for me Once has always been a bit of an "IQ test" of some sort. Like, you need to have a certain background, to live through certain experiences to see the story and not the "cheap set".
It is subtle. Delicate. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea but I kinda noticed that people who get it, who feel it, who understand its subtlety - they are my people. (Love you @theatremonkey and others who are with me here!)

WARNING: Fairfield Hall cancelled the 24th December matinee and didn't tell me. I found out by accident and was able to re-book another date. If you have tickets for any performance, check the date is still happening, in case others have also been cancelled. Looks like they have cancelled 2 of my 3 shows booked. And the words I want to shout right now won't go through the forum's filters. AS I CANT MAKE IT ANY OTHER DATES.

Does anyone have any seating guidance for Fairfield Halls?
I noticed quite a few offers going around for this this week (£18 last couple of rows of the front stalls section on TodayTix for example) and thought I’d check the Fairfield Halls website to see what the face value of these seats are. I noticed that the front 3 rows of the front stalls are all now £15 (I was sure it was only the outer seats of the front row that were £15 previously). Can’t tell if they’ve added these extra rows in last minute and priced them like that just to make sure they’re sold, or if they’re cheaper because the view is going to be dreadful (they aren’t listed as restricted view). Seems weird that these front stalls seats are so cheap and the seats in the back row are £43.50

Definitely was only left and front areas of stalls priced £15 when I booked Once at Croydon I remember becauseI purchaed two lots of two seats instead of four together because of this. However for Buddy all of the front row carried a £15 price and there was nothing negative about sitting there.

Another annoyance of them adding extra rows. I booked the front row for tonight soon after this went on sale, now I'm a few rows back and all the rows in front are sold. Not much can be done I suspect.

I presume rows A and B will still be in place as usual, just without any seats sold for them (can't imagine they will have extended the stage or be using an orchestra pit). That's what happened with Angela's Ashes. No idea what the logic is of having the audience sitting further back.

I'm in Sheffield now but when I get back tomorrow will be phoning Fairfield too if my seats are no longer front row. The Ashcroft seems to be struggling to get a good attendance and messing about with the seating doesn't help

Interval time, very good so far. Many of the same cast at last year.
The pre-show started at 7:32pm, very few people in then, with the main show continuing straight on at 7:48pm. Sound wasn’t perfect for the pre-show but got sorted.
The seating is rather a mess. I have stayed in my original Row F seat but would probably have moved if I could have left the row easily. It’s the distance a lot of people would like. The seating plan showed Rows C to E sold out, but actually there are four people on Row C, a few more on D and E. On Row F, what were the premium seats are empty. Rows A and B are empty so everyone is distant from this intimate show.
The rest of the theatre is busy with both levels open, but not as busy as the seating chart would suggest. In the Stalls behind me, most people are in the front half (don’t know if they were moved forward).
The show is very polished for a first performance (even bearing in mind a lot of the cast are continuing). Plus I hadn’t realised David Heywood had joined the cast even though he’s mostly in the background (perhaps cover Guy), which is a bonus.

Second half also very good, with the exception of some microphone feedback.
Main downside was a restless audience, I had shufflers near me, a phone went off, several glasses knocked over etc. This is one of those shows people don’t know what to expect.
A very emotional ending and a standing ovation from a good proportion of the audience. There were more at the back than I’d thought at first glance. There was also some kind of champagne event going on (which I wasn’t part of).
The show finished at 10:25pm, so this is running about 10 minutes longer than scheduled. But I’m sure it will tighten up. Don’t know if I’ll see this again in Croydon, but I’ll definitely catch this later on in the tour.

Would you say that the £15 seats in rows C to E offer a good view? Or is the stage high? Personally, I’m happy with any of those and I think this is a show to sit close to the front for. I like Row A (for other productions). You look slightly up, but you won’t miss anything. The main downside of the first few rows is the rake is very slight, if there’s any at all. For £15, they’re excellent value. And this venue just doesn’t sell out so you’d always be able to quietly move if you didn’t like the seat (or the people sitting near you).

I'm going at tomorrow's matinee and I wanted to call them to change my seat from row F to row C (the entire rows C-D-E were completely unsold yesterday when I checked) but I just saw the seating plan and they all look sold out. Weird...

Weird... That's what it looked like yesterday, but under half of them had anyone sat there. Maybe they have had too many complaints after putting them on sale? Or they just want it to look like there are fewer seats left to sell.

No problem changing my row F seats for row C but the box office assistant did not know why rows A and B were not available. He said his system just showed they were "on hold" which he thought was most likely at the request of the promoter. Odd.

There were very few people there for the matineee on Saturday and I had no problem moving to the front row, together with a Board and theatre illuminary who I was privileged and delighted to meet.... Front row then had 5 people including my family of 4, nobody in rows B or C.
"Girl" was understudied by Hanna Khogali. It was her first ever appearance in the lead role and she did a fine job. I asked my family afterwards if they would have known they were seeing the first performance by an understudy and none of them would.
I do think this show has been given too long a run at Croydon ; three times as many performances compared to other tour venues. With great seats available for £15 it's well worth a visit.

Am seeing this on Saturday and was very pleased that the box office happily swapped me into Row C center stalls for a £2.50 charge. This will be my 4th time seeing this, from 3 different venues and 2 countries. Will tears fall from Girl's eyes again during IYWM? Stay tuned ..
