Oh god. Messy messy messy. Her mother has waded in now aswell. And Oliver Ormson. This insistence on trying to stage manage all social media relating to herself will never work. Back away from it now Carrie.

The amount of times I've written huge ranting posts here then deleted them because I feel bad.
I'm really not a fan. End of.

Thanks a bunch, you lot! A few weeks ago I had never even heard of Carrie Hope Fletcher or Alex Day. Now I have spent hours watching both vlogs (?) reading blogs and catching up on the various youtuber scandals - most unedifying when I could have been reading War and Peace or some such.

I had a scan through the threads on Guru Gossiper, purely in the interests of research of course as Im NOT interested in CHF in any way shape or form . It’s all pretty low level criticism, certainly nothing for Oliver to be calling people c***s for (I have not read every post since 2015 so please don’t come for me if someone said something vile). Apparently CHF has referenced the website several times before, knows what it is, yet chose to go visit and read what she knew would be comments from people who, for the most part, find her really annoying. She then wrote her blogpost saying how she’s trying. Cue hundreds of “Hopefulls” saying how fantastic she is. Go figure.

At least she has cleared up her increase in mass due to being on birth control. Cue hundreds of hopefuls googling "birth control". I would have thought doing a show 8 times a week with warm ups would have balanced out side effects from her medication especially in this type of weather performers must be losing pounds in sweat.

Oh god. Messy messy messy. Her mother has waded in now aswell. And Oliver Ormson. This insistence on trying to stage manage all social media relating to herself will never work. Back away from it now Carrie. I got through the first section, as far as this: And then I gave up in utter despair. Am I the only one who absolutely loathes this vogue for people declaring that they know they're just lucky, 'privileged', 'had so much help!' etc? Because, love, I can guarantee you have more talent than me. I can't carry a tune in a bucket! I have 2 left feet. No-one wants to see me get up on a stage to sing and dance. And I'm pretty sure you've worked harder than me, since I have sensibly done the best I can to arrange my life so I can work to live instead of live to work. Those people sniping at you are wasting their time on the internet while you are working. They can't do what you do! They either don't have the talent or don't have the work ethic. Stop worrying about what every idiot on the internet thinks of you! If they're bitching about you, but still watching your vlogs and buying tickets to your show, then they are putting money in your pocket and you should be laughing all the way to the bank. If they're not, well then they're not the audience you're trying to entertain, and you can safely ignore them. Honestly, as a performer the best thing this woman can do is step away from the internet. Learn to ignore the bullsh*t.

Yes almost people feel it is a crime to be white middle classed and privileged. Well if they feel that strong then donate as much of their wealth as they want to good causes but we don't want to keep reading about it.

A bit late to this scandal, but that whole stage door thing that went on and on and on while everyone and their mum weighed in (Carrie's mum actually did) was over ONE person!? Not even a few people, one person!? No wonder she's made 650 of those "how to not annoy me at stage door" videos if she goes into full defensive mode every time one person criticises her.
Guru Gossiper doesn't seem like the worst place in the world. Is it not better that people air their grievances away from the YouTuber rather than in the comments section of their videos? An honest open conversation can never ensue because on social media the YouTuber has hundreds of people who'll leap to their defence no matter how wrong they may be, so is it not better to create a little microcosm where people can go and talk about how irritating they find Carrie's hair or whatever?
She needs to learn that she can't police the internet. People will say nasty things, some accurate, some woefully misinformed, but creating a storm over it every single time won't make it go away. Also, if she wants to get drunk with her friends (absolutely fine) then she perhaps shouldn't do it in full view of people who think they stand a chance of meeting her as it's a bit cruel. Better to go off to a different pub rather than leave kids/teens hopefully stood there for an hour not aware you're going to go out the opposite way once you're finished.

"Then I was touring with The Addams Family where I drank more than I ever have before which obviously didn’t help."
Stop whining and address it then oh my goooooood
And her books are really, really badly written (flicked through one the other day, one of the character's names changes between pages... oh dear).

People on tour sometimes work hard and party hard but she'd finished the Addams family tour a while ago so if she moderated her drinking after that then weight would come off.
Performers work hard and need to relax and this will involve winding down and having a drink as long as it doesn't become an issue we'd never criticize anyone for doing it. Also doing 8 shows a week plus warm ups, I'd guess a performer would burn off a lot of calories and would need to eat and drink extra just to maintain their body weight.

I don't think it's OK for us to be discussing a young woman's weight on here, is it?

No excuse for body shaming anyone on any public forum. Ever. In my opinion a persons size has zero bearing on their worth as a human. I think a lot of the criticism on here of Carrie is unfair. And no, I’m not a hopeful or a huge fan, I just happen to think she’s a talented YOUNG woman and the way she gets vilified on here you’d think she was terrible. She’s what? 24? 25? None of you lot ever made mistakes at that age? Hell. I’m still making them! There’s plenty of people in the public eye I’m not a fan off, but I just dont Watch what they’re in or follow them on social media. I think if you’re taking time to be petty and mean about someone online (and some of these comments are quite mean) then that says more about you than the person you’re insulting. How’s about we all as humans try and build each other up instead of tearing each other down? I’m not saying she’s perfect and she doesn’t need to learn anything, but constructive criticism is way more effective than being mean. Imagine if you were CHF and you were reading this board; how would you feel? Life’s short. Be kind. Kindness saves lives.

And one of the things that I thought was great about CHFs vlog was her stuff about body acceptance. She seemed quite confident of her beauty, which makes a refreshing change.

Imagine if you were CHF and you were reading this board; how would you feel? It's got to be said, given that she obviously does monitor what people say about her online, I'd be surprised if she hasn't come across this thread! So: Hi, Carrie! Don't let the bastards get you down.

I think CHF is naturally beautiful inside and out, and VERY talented. She doesn't deserve the stick she gets online.
I had a look on that Guru Gossip site and my god, the trolls on there!!

I appreciate that the issue of body shaming is not something to diminish or deny. It clearly is something that people have to deal with on a daily basis and it can be very destructive.
However that BBC article seemed to just be a puff piece about CHF and the show - with a click-bait-y headline.
CHF has had to deal with this sort of tweet and comment over the years - and it is wrong that she is still facing it - but this is a rather misleading headline that is more about the show rather than an issue affecting the industry.
Clearly a press release intended to get attention for the show rather than investigative journalism to highlight something in a serious and considered way.

This is what the Evening Standard says. "CHF is a YouTube star now pursuing a musical theatre career. Her character Veronica is her first major west end role"
Oh dear!

Repeat after me: COMMENTS 👏🏻 ABOUT 👏🏻 OTHER 👏🏻 PEOPLE’S 👏🏻 BODIES 👏🏻 ARE 👏🏻NEVER 👏🏻 OK👏🏻
I’ve been on the receiving end of nasty comments about my body and it hurts! No one knows anyone else’s circumstances or why they’re the weight they are. It’s of absolutely no concern to anyone what another person weighs, unless they’re sitting on them.
This body shaming is disgusting and dangerous and needs to stop.
Rant over.

With all this talk about body shaming what about schools or Drs telling people they are clinically obese etc. We have all this lose weight, improve the age of your heart and then people applaud larger models being used on the front page of magazines. Some people can carry weight and be healthy but there does seem double standards like TV promoting healthy eating, cut back on salt, sugar, alcohol then you have cookery programmes using it on the same channel.

There's a bit of a difference between concern over someone's weight because of health reasons and sneering at a stranger on the Internet because you get some sort of perverted arousal from making someone else miserable.

In fairness, there's not a *lot* of difference when you consider that concern trolling is a thing, and people will say "I'm just WORRIED about you" as though that's supposed to make it okay for them to call you fat like it's an insult and imply that you're a weak lazy person with no self control. People are all built differently, and if they're not one of your VERY nearest and dearest, then their weight is OFF the table for discussion.

In fairness, there's not a *lot* of difference when you consider that concern trolling is a thing I assumed that when I said "concern" the implied meaning of "genuine and legitimate concern" was obvious, given that the previous post was referring to doctors and clinical obesity. The people who are criticising Carrie Hope Fletcher for her purportedly criticisable weight aren't remotely concerned about her. They're just arseholes. If they couldn't criticise her weight they'd criticise something else. I'd never heard of "concern trolling" before your post, and I'm surprised you said there's not a lot of difference given that genuine concern for someone's health isn't remotely similar to feigned concern as a weak disguise for belittlement. Not a single one of the people who are attacking CHF have a genuine concern for her. It's all the difference in the world.

I agree there is a difference between someone who is obese and someone like CHF who may be naturally curvy or a bit overweight at the very worse. CHF said part of her weight gain was due to the birth control she is now on. She is obviously in good physical fitness to do 8 shows a week plus her vlogging stuff. Being in a show particularly on tour they work and likely eat late and maybe have convenience foods and will kick back and enjoy a few drinks so the diet may not be perfect but they must burn off a lot during the show.
I did point out that Carrie looked larger than the other Heather girls on a photo but they are supposed to be the perfect cheerleader type girls and in hold ups, Carrie's leg shape would be highlighted more

Hitster, you do seem to keep bringing the subject of CHF’s size, despite admin asking for it to end.
No-one wants to be on the receiving end of body shaming comments so I’m asking you, in the words of Idina, to let it go.

I have enjoyed watching her most recent vlogs about Heathers. She gives a nice behind the scenes look at the Haymarket and it gives a good feel of what it's like to be part of the cast in a West End musical like Heathers.
