Surely there are better singers/actresses than the lot from Girls Aloud??

Ah, prompts speculation ...
Katie Price and whoever she's married to now ... (scrape the barrel)
Hadley Fraser and Rosalie Craig ... (sublime pairing)

How about Danny Mac & Carley Stenson with the delay being because he is on the Strictly tour? Pure speculation of course...

Oh the producers will be rubbing their hands with glee at this casting! Expect sky high ticket prices! The show will appeal to women anyway and with Danny Mac leading there will not be a dry seat in the house!

The best casting in ages!!!
So nice to see them two on stage - is this rumoured for West End after? I'd like to see them in Hairspray together. Big fans of both performers so would like to see them on stage together

A limited three-date tour implies that they are angling towards a West End run at some point (ala Wind In The Willows), but there's a ton of factors that will go into it so I guess it'll be a case of wait and see for now.

Also noticed it's produced by Michael Rose (Big, Elf, White Christmas)

What's he like as a singer?
Also, casting that kid is going to be tricky. He's a big part of the story and British kids doing US accents can be hiddy (I refer you to the TV ad for Etihad with Jennifer Anniston which is a cringe fest because of that kid). Finding one will be a challenge, let alone however many they need for three legs of the tour. Maybe they've been sensible and rewritten the book so he's hardly in it. Just have Danny M shouting off stage "hey kid what ya been lookin' at airline websites for huh?" haha

This is a video of Danny singing 'Serious' from his stint in Legally Blonde. I personally think he has a good voice but I love Carley's voice and it'd be great to see them on stage together!
I imagine it's definitely looking at a transfer but I presume it'd be a limited season in a smaller theatre?

From the way he's singing in the video it seems that he's still channelling Fiyero (Fiyerrrrroooooo!)

He was Boq, right?
I saw him in Legally Blonde and thought he was fine, though Warner is a pretty small role.
Also enjoyed him in Hollyoaks back when I used to watch it.*gasp* does this mean I'm approving of soap star casting? 😉
Looking forward to seeing how this goes then.

George Ure was Boq, with Danny first cover, I think. I also saw him as Warner recently and thought he was fine in that, if a little understated (which I took to be the TV back to stage transition, something that Strictly has probably overcome!)

I personally really want to see this show, mainly due to the casting rather than the show itself. Really like both leads! Won't be seeing it though unless more dates are added.

Great casting from my eye. Will be intrigued to see how it sells and if it goes to the West End. He is the more recognisable of the two but both have equal selling power so hopefully it should amount to good sales! If it ran n the West End, I'd iamgine it be a set limited run unless the reviews from tour were amazing, are they are no where near famous enough to sell a year long, West End run. But I hope it does well and tHat it does go to the West End. It certianly appear the plan with the offical website, but we have heard that before... www.sleeplessthemusical.com

Also... timing of the announcement, plus timing of the tour ending... Picadilly Theatre anyone? I was thinking that as a filler/transfer before FN comes along.... then I think it will go to Broadway (American show) but would be recast for America.

Oh not doubt it would be a recast for America, and dependant on sales for the tour or reviews, could even have one of them bumped off before it hits the West End to boost ticket sales with a bigger names. Which is crap and shouldn't happen, but producer mentality.

It depends burn for a limited season, I think they'd sell well in WE. Strictly has definitely boosted Danny's career. He was known by the youngsters from Hollyoaks now the people who watch strictly know of him too. Same with Carley, known from Hollyoaks and also now from musical shows.

Oooo love, from some couples it makes the chemistry non-existant, trust me.
