It's only the beginning of June so I expect we'll have announcements fairly shortly for the first three, Ambassadors is iffy as it's likely to close so they can begin work turning it into the Sondheim. The Vaudeville is going to be doing a season of Shaw plays but I don't expect they'll announce that for a while, likewise with Duke of York's since it won't be free until November, they have plenty of time to announce what's going in

Crazy For You has been on tour now for what feels like a decade. Could that pop by for a limited run somewhere?

Could we agree or disagree with the following please, your input would be great on this one.
Victoria Palace - Hamilton Victoria Apollo - Wicked Her Majesty’s - The Phantom of the Opera Lyceum - The Lion King Novello - Mamma Mia Duchess - The Play That Went Wrong St Martins - Mousetrap Queens - Les Miserable Princess of Wales - Book of Mormon Lyric - Thriller Criterion - The Comedy About a Bank Robbery Prince Edward - Aladdin
Are all solid hits and the mentioned theatres aren’t going to come available anytime soon.

^ I would also throw the Cambridge Theatre with Matilda into that list too. It’s still very popular and holds it own in the West End and on tour, too.
I would imagine that Thriller will eventually lose momentum but perhaps not for another year or two and I’m not sure for how long TCAABR can keep filling the Criterion for. That doesn’t scream long-runner to me, whereas TPTGW at the Duchess does.

Also Harry Potter at the Palace - I don't think that is going anywhere for a long time yet. And I agree with @tom89 that Matilda should be on your list but TCAABR and Thriller should not.

Sometimes I feel sad that I can't ever go to particular theatres unless I want to see the long-running show that's currently in residence, because if I wanted to see that show, I'd've seen it already. But the nice thing about the Lyric is the way they run things like The Tiger Who Came To Tea or The Gruffalo's Child during school holidays, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by Thriller's continued existence. No such luck with the Lyceum though, if I ever want to get through the door there, I probably am going to have to suck it up and see The Lion King at some point. They don't even seem to do a backstage tour for heaven's sake.

TCAABR is discounting massively I reckon, so unfortunately is not gonna last for much longer. It sucks cause it's my favourite Mischief play out there.

Whoops forgot Harry Potter and Matilda and agree both will not close anytime soon. Thanks for both those.
Be interesting to see if the Criterion does come free, small theatres are underrepresented in the West End, with long runners in other theatres, (Fortune, Duchess), so if the Criterion comes free and now with the Ambassador free, gives more scope for small shows to come in, also go the new nimax theatre opening next year.
I wish I could share your enthusiasm for Thriller, I would like to see it gone, but realistically I know it won’t close, with tourists shelling out and it’s low operating costs who adds to its longevity and our misery.

^ The Lyceum Theatre has previously hosted Christmas concerts on a couple of the Monday's before the big day, so that could be a possibility if the arrangement continues in the future.

Comedy I wouldn't be surprised if it closes in the next year or so, it does seem to discount a lot although the Criterion isn't exactly sought after so they may be able to chug along for a bit longer. firefingers mentioned on the Thriller thread that the show has stopped turning a profit so I reckon they'll get it to the 10th anniversary in January 2019 then close shortly afterward.

I also wonder how much longer Bat will be able to stay on at the Dominion. I predict that will continue running at reduced capacity (although I personally haven’t seen it) for the time being, but if a big broadway transfer is looking I’d have thought they’ll be moved along.

Frankly, I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from current West End sales. It's invariably flat in May / June - exams and the start of good weather, and just before the first American College groups get here. This year, we can add the World Cup, which has a very major effect. Which is exactly why I fully intend to take advantage of some theatre deals this summer!

I wonder if 'What's in a Name?' with Nigel Harman and Sarah Hadland is still waiting to transfer from the Birmingham REP last year into one of these empty theatres - I'd imagine a small playhouse, so maybe the Garrick for a limited run? I remember Harman saying in an interview that he was doing a play in the West End some point this year after directing Big Fish and Shrek, so I'm guessing he was talking about this.

I imagine the Dominion would be looked for either Frozen, SpongeBob or perhaps My Fair Lady given the latter is being produced by Nederlander on Broadway with the Lincoln Center although I think Frozen would likely opt for Drury Lane.

The Garrick is getting a week or so of stand-up comedy in mid-September. Non other than the ubiquitous Katherine Ryan from the 17th to 29th.

I know that some of you would obviously love to see that Jukebox of Evil close sooner rather than later, but Bat isn't doing that badly ticket-wise since producers have started to readjust pricing and it also seems to be a bit of a slow burner with people spreading the word how good it is and booking for themselves again, so I'd be surprised if it doesn't manage a run of a few years (if they can sustain the same quality in the cast when the original cast leaves, that is). And since the Meat Loaf core target group is pretty much straight white males, who will be glued to the football world cup in the next month, I expect it to do even better once the world cup is over.
If Spongebob is playing to about 50% capacity and heavily discounted in the 1700 seat Palace Theatre in New York, in the middle of Times Square, how on Earth would they want to fill the +2000 seat Dominion Theatre? And I'm saying this as a fan of the show who'd love for it to come over. Nor do I think that something as tired as My Fair Lady with all its questionable issues in today's world could fill a theatre that size over a longer period.
As long as Bat manages to make a certain weekly nut, I really don't think they're in hurry to push them out as these huge barns are incredibly hard to fill.

The last revival of My Fair Lady did 2 years at Drury Lane so it could do a similar run at a similar sized theatre

Peak Friday night, peak time for tourist season and Bat is a tourist show.
Sitting in the Dominion and many empty seats, stalls 60% empty.

The New Year is shaping up to see big changes in the landscape of West End shows, with the Phoenix, Adelphi & Savoy re-opening with new shows. Hopefully this means Waitress and Dear Evan Hansen have a shot after months of speculation!

Drury Lane will likely be availible come March, but that is for refurbishment. Unless the opt to postpose refurbishment to keep 42nd Street longer like they have done before, but I doubt it. I think 42nd Street will just get to two years then be done.

Wow surprised at Aladdin closing, guess it isn't selling well. I love the Prince Edward Theatre so I hope it gets an equally amazing show.
