Nice to return to this tonight - hadn't been for 6 years! Won lottery and got row K stalls. Great view but the sound was not especially during the group numbers - glad I knew majority of the lyrics because they weren't the easiest to make out. Truly great score though.

I had the same sound issues a couple of years ago. I want to go back but only if I get a seat with better sound. But how do i know which seats are good?

Sound was awful on the tour too. Front of stalls, could barely hear a word they were singing.

I found the sound to be better from the back of the stalls

Hi, me and a friend are hoping to pick up the £10 dayseats for 16-25 year olds for the matinee on 1st June. Any advice on how early we need to get there? The box office opens at £10 but is there likely to be a long queue? (That week is half term for the London schools)

Not sure how it’d be during half term.

I saw the matinee today and aside from a couple of times where the mic was turned on late the sound was excellent from K25 in the upper circle. My first matinee of this (squeezed in before Jerusalem this evening) and the flow to the toilets seemed constant as was the rustling of plastic but nothing for the bad behaviour thread. What did seem odd was the total absence of any 'latecomers will be admited at a suitable break' as they were constantly wandering in. The performances were all great. Not sure of a cast change is coming up but some of the children seemed as big as the adult children. I'll have to not leave it so long before my next visit. Was going to treat myself to a stalls seat but maybe not of I can't hear them from there!

I'm taking my young son to see this tomorrow night - his first 'proper' theatre show (beyond the kids' stuff).
I can't find any details on the official site in the FAQs or elsewhere but I know the rake in the stalls is pretty shallow. Do they have booster seats available?

Lauren Byrne cast as Miss Honey I’m so pleased about this! Lauren is amazingly talented, but I was at the last show of Cinderella and became concerned that her totally human reaction during the speech in front of Laurence Connor could cast a shadow over her name. I’m really glad to see it clearly hasn’t though and I’m sure her career is going to continue to keep moving on the upwards from now on!

Ah, Lauren Byrne is a fabulous choice for Miss Honey! Great casting. I haven’t seen Matilda for years, but might revisit when the new cast are in!

Six months since a post on this thread so I'll offer this.
Browsing shows in the OLT New Year Sale - as they have been adding more seats regularly on many shows - I was surprised when Matilda sale dates jumped from Thursday 9 February to Tuesday 28 February. There are £30 and £50 seats available on that date including the front row of the stalls, where I've booked an aisle seat for £50.
I hope it isn't a glitch because it's the only show I can find with sale tickets on that date and that front row isn't available at all on the main booking page. No other dates and no other shows with sale prices on 28 February. Odd.

Doing a trailer? Surely not a recording of the stageshow too...?!

I’d welcome it over the film…couldn’t get on with it at all.

They sapped all of the warmth out of it in favour of being quirky and a bit ‘arch’. I loved LL as Miss Honey though. It felt like she was fighting against the rest of the film.

She was a bit bland up until her solo which makes you realise she’s being sidelined for that bizarre escapologist plot. Nobody quite reached their full potential.

Just wanted to ask whether you can film the curtain call at Matilda? I don’t think you can, and I don’t want to do anything I’m not allowed to do when I go tomorrow! Thank you

Apparently the actor playing Miss Honey (Lauren Byrne presumably?) and both of her understudies were unable to perform at yesterdays matinee due to “sore throats”. Somebody was brought in from a previous cast who “smashed it”. Shamelessly nicking this info off Facebook, is it true? Anyone know more details?

Something similar happened a few years ago when a cast member was sick at Mamma Mia and one of the ensemble at 42nd Street next door stepped in at the last minute. It made the press and TV.

Yes, Carly Thoms went on as Miss Honey, she left the show in September last year.
