Kenwrights website says it's the "original staging".
"Taking its inspiration from the classic movie, this innovative reimagining will feature an expanded book, new music and original staging"
I took that to mean the original sets and illusions.

The original staging (London) takes 3 weeks to get into the theatre and the last tour took 3 days to transfer from venue to venue, so the show has been redesigned to be more 'portable' and easier to transport

Ah, see, now I took "original staging" to mean staging that is original to this production, not a replica/restaging/revival (what you will) of the original London staging. If what you quoted from the website is correct, it does say "new music and original staging" as opposed to "new music and *the* original staging".

The "flashy sets and illusions" are what made the original show. The staging was phenominal.
Yes, typical BK - "original staging" as opposed to "the original staging!
"show redesigned to be more portable and easier to transport" IE - CHEAP!

unclefesterVery interesting - thanks for sharing!! Surprised how Sarah and Andy are only booked until Christmas as that's only a couple of months away but I wouldn't be surprised if they continue into next year. Just out of interest, how do you know all this?

Just out of interest, how do you know all this? There is a chance of a Girl's Aloud reunion next year hence why she has only been confirmed until December. (It is 5 months including rehearsals)
As to how I know all this, let's just say I know people who know people on the show!

Blimey I was only at the farewell gig five minutes ago. Have we got to go through all that again?

It looks like the casting extends into next year after all. The dates at the Liverpool Empire in April are being advertised as starring Sarah Harding and Andy Moss.

I counted only 15 in the cast. Thin for a full scale musical?

Well this is significantly scaled down, even for a UK Tour standard!

Well this is significantly scaled down, even for a UK Tour standard! It's Kenwright. What do you expect? That doesn't mean it'll be bad though. Jacqui Dubois and Sam Ferriday will hopefully be able to carry the show - very strong performers. And most Kenwright productions are very good - Blood Brothers, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita. Joseph is the only one I dislike.

That was a Bill wasn't it?

The supporting cast looks relatively decent.
Fingers crossed!

Wow. They can assemble a better cast for the Asian Tour than Kenwright can for a UK tour.

Our casting compared to the Asia tour is an embarrassment. I would love to see that cast!

I am actually so jealous of Asia right now.
Its weird how Sam Edwards will be Carl, considering he was 1st understudy to Sam in London.

So Kenwright isn't producing the Asian tour then?

To be fair, I don't think you can knock Kenwright for having this cast for the Uk tour. It has got people talking and will certainly bring in punters.
The Asian tour has a good cast but if that was the cast for the Uk tour it wouldn't get people talking and probably wouldn't get in audiences apart from theatre lovers like us who know those names.

Oh love, I can pretty much assure you that the only thing selling the UK Tour is the name of the show itself. And that is coming from someone who genuinely loved it in London. But bar a few Girls Aloud fans, the casting of Sarah has had a lot of backlash on social media from theatre-goers and the public, especially those who know the role. Much as I am willing to give her a chance and wish her the best as I really do like her, this casting has got people chatting certainly, but for all the wrong reasons. This tour needs to get good reviews.
The Asian tour has a phenomenal cast, Emily Tierney would be a dream in this role!

Very happy to see Ben Irish back in the Asian tour and I believe he's 1st cover Sam again. I hope he gets to go on. He didn't last time. Karina Hind is understudying Molly and she'll be wonderful!
