The snippet of Miriam singing Baby One More Time is good, it's very dramatic beats, Alexandra Burke does Britney.

Never heard of her Never heard of the composer Never heard of the show Difficult theatre to fill Still crying over Memphis closing! I love new work but these seems to be in the wrong space I’m afraid. Give it a few months before Pretty Woman goes there..... What a lovely beacon of sunshine and optimism about something before it's opened

What a lovely beacon of sunshine and optimism about something before it's opened It’s my opinion and factually correct I don’t know who they are. The theatre IS very difficult to fill - so yes it is in the wrong space. A 800 smaller theatre would be better. I’m all for being completely dumbfounded when I see it so it changes my mind - sadly reading the audition notices and hearing some of the music, I do (with many others) think it will have a short life in the West End, when other great shows have closed sadly early. Good luck to them all!

Plot/song predictions:
Juliet is actually a bit relieved when Romeo kills himself (One Less Problem without You by Ariana Grande) Juliet goes on this trip to Paris with 3 friends (3 by Britney) Juliet kisses a girl and likes it (I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry) Juliet falls out with one of her friends (Bad Blood by Taylor Swift) Juliet splits up with someone (We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift) Juliet gets back together with said person (My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson) Juliet realises she is still young with lots to learn (I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet a Woman by Britney) There is a happy ending (Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake)
I might pass on tickets....

Are there any clues as to who’s producing this? Max Martin himself! Along with Tim Headington and Theresa Steele. Yeah, them. Love the track on the website as much as I love a Shaftesbury flop. When can I book?!?

Mariam's vocals sound great.
I was never anti-jukebox musicals, I actually think they could be fun and clever if done right, but I must say it is getting extremely overcrowded here. The ratio of original score vs jukebox musical is worrying me. This sounds like a major risk with the composer's name not being a household name (sure - the songs are famous and catchy but who quotes composers in the pop world?), and all three producers have little to no major credits and no West End production experience.
Most shows tend to open cold in London with no out of town tryout unless they've got a interesting and ambitious staging. Ghost and Bat Out Of Hell comes to mind. It might then be a big spectacle, which makes it even riskier.

I really don't know if it is worth the risk with this one to be a huge spectacle. Thinking both Ghost and Bat on their West End shows, the former lasted about a year and a half, the latter lasted nine months in the West End. Taking quality aside, neither was entirely successful and didn't really make it worth the spectacle despite both shows looking great!

Though I will say ...couldn't Max Martin just have written a original score?

I worked on The Far Pavilions. I've suffered enough. Ahhh that’s why you’re such a misery..It’s all making sense now! Feel free to check out the Fiddler thread btw... Yes, the burdens of actually being in the industry. Are you back in the Fiddler thread? I thought you'd promised no more gossip. I'll have a look.

I'm feeling hopeful for this one!
I just listened to the full Baby One More Time on the website, and was pleasantly surprised!
I like the artwork already, and I believe with the right marketing and the right amount of appearances/TV Spots it could do very well. Nice to see such a risk be taken by producers, here's hoping!

I heard they were originally going to call this 'The Blitz' because it's going to bomb so badly but changed their minds at the last minute. Wise I think.

(Also there's already a musical called Blitz!, and anyone expecting solid Lionel Bart show-tunes would probably be a bit startled by Max Martin pop bangers.)

What a lovely beacon of sunshine and optimism about something before it's opened Several theatre aficionados on a niche message board, predicting its demise, will make absolutely no difference to this, whether it sells or not.
The poster is making a reasonable call on this and I agree, a musical no one has ever heard of opening in a reasonably big house, that doesn't have much footfall going past, is going to be a very tough sell and I don't give it long.
I agree with Andy that it should've gone through a more comprehensive development process and done a month or so at the Other Palace to gauge both demand and quality.
The caveat about Memphis is a very good example, a Broadway hit, 2 strong leads, Beverley Knight known outside theatre circles and came in on the back of shifting lots of tickets for the Bodyguard, the show also got very good 4 stars reviews across the board, also the economy was growing. So this is the benchmark you have to surpass, this show I feel won't do that.
A flop musical is detrimental to the West End and damaging.
So could be Pretty Women or another Broadway transfer.

Bat out of Hell opened like this and look at it now. It's well loved by many and it's had 2 West End runs and a Canadian run so far.

You simply can't compare the 2 shows. 1 has been around for years and has instant name recognition across the world, the other is a complete unknown to everyone. Who knows, it might be great! I suspect it won't be. But I'll be going along to find out.

I suppose you can compare it in some ways to Six though, in terms of an idea that might sound a bit ridiculous and flop worthy that actually turned out great.
The Six wives bought up to date as basically tribute acts to famous modern pop singers and competing on who's the lead singer of a girl group? I mean... that sounds possibly as crazy as the story of Juliet after Romeo set to max martins pop songs.
The thing with Six though is that it started small and grew and developed and even now, as the big hit show it is today, is still only in a small off west end house. You do have to say that's it's really risky putting a show like this in a mid sized west end theatre straight off the bat.
But, we'll see. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Can you compare the Arts Theatre to the Shaftesbury though? Would SIX (which I haven’t seen yet) work at the Adelphi? Some shows like Dogfight, BatBoy, and I presume Six and so on are meant for shorter runs and fringe type/smaller venues.

The show sounds as if it will either be great fun or a hideous train-wreck, with nothing in between.
Miriam-Teak Lee is a spectacular talent, as anyone who saw her in 'On the Town' already knows; "...Baby One More Time" really isn't my favourite song, but the arrangement is interesting and she sounds great. I'm sure I'll see it in Manchester.
