Makes sense but surprised they aren't cashing in and transferring to the west end for a limited run. I don't think any West End stage could host this production

I think if it had to be an immediate limited run cast could be the main problem- Tovey has a series in America and Gough is off there too with People Places... fairly soon after. But a delayed Broadway run could allow for clearing schedules and/or recasting.

Really enjoyed your article, as I did the one in the National Theatre programme. There is no doubting your passion for this piece as you did your doctorate on it, you know the play word by word and you are passionate about theatre in general, passion goes a long way for me and should be a pre-requisite for any director, something I feel you could do here. There are 2 (expensive) tickets available for the 2 Play day on 24th May Some tickets available tomorrow night. Not surprising after Ben Brantley's New York Times review, it came more of when than if, obviously Nathan Lane and Andrew Garfield will take the piece to Broadway, however they could also take the whole cast. Hope this isn't the end of the road for this in London and would love them to re-cast and bring it back someone like David Haig to play Roy Cohn and Michael Xavier to Jonathan Groff to play Prior.

Once i heard Nathan Lane had been cast it was flipping obvious to me that this would go to NY. Of course Marianne Elliott having two Tonys doesnt hurt!

When did Michael Xavier display the acting chops to play Prior?

When did Michael Xavier display the acting chops to play Prior? Didn't say he had, but feel he could and would represent a great breakout role for him from musical theatre, that said I am generally very poor at casting.

I suspect Angels in America will be late 2018 if it goes to Broadway. It would be cool if it ended up at the Walter Kerr Theatre which was the original production's Broadway theatre but it could easily end up at a theatre like the Barrymore or the Bernard B Jacobs.

This makes two shows that, when people who can afford to go to a Broadway show start talking about going to them, I can slip in all blasé like "Oh, I saw those on the West End eons ago and the magic just can't be replicated".

Lincoln Center is the place to Angels and I think they are going to Broadway for sure, but not until 2019.
The entire cast, aside from the Angel, was nominated for the Tonys, it will be interesting to see if they can do this again at the Oliviers and Tonys lol

Lincoln Centre would be an excellent choice, however they;ve got My Fair Lady coming in and I suspect that will run a couple of years.

He was quite good in Wars of the Roses, although my positive impression of him could easily have been affected by my negative impression of others who really had no right being on that stage. (He might be getting a little old for it too.) Jonathan Groff not a bad shout though...

I will be in London that day. As a tourist I'm not familiar with the Platforms format. Is it a live interview? Filmed? If live do they take questions? My 2 play ticket is 29 July Thank you Sherrie

Will be a live interview. The ones I've seen have been an interview followed by a few questions from the audience. They are usually conscious that some people will have seen the show and others won't
Bargain for £6 if you're able to go!

Seconded that they're well worth going to and won't spoiler the show deliberately- they'll probably assume some familiarity with the subject matter but be conscious not to spoil specifics (particularly production wise) should be great and the platforms are usually really fun (and a bargain!)

I've asked before but does anyone have any info on times to arrive for Day-seats?
I keep looking to see if any of the £15 tickets get realeased again like they have done for other performances. I really want to see both plays on the 3rd of June. I was planning on getting the first train which arrives around 6am. Just one ticket. Do you think I'll be in luck?
Thanks!

Went to see part 1 last night and was completely bowled over. Now I can't wait to see part 2 but, damn it, I have to (3 weeks!) The critics have all gone and singled out Garfield's performance and obviously It's award-winning but what struck me was what a great ensemble piece it is - I thought they were all superb.
I've definitely underrated Russell Tovey as an actor, I thought some of his scenes were mesmerising. Maybe it was where I was sat, which was the middle of the front row stalls but when he was performing the 'hot dog' scene with James McArdle he was so close I could have reached out and touched him (sorry if this is sounding a little scarily stalker-ish) and the tension was electrifying.
