I guess they might mean the Tuacahn Amphitheatre production that's currently running in the states and has articles on broadwayworld. It does look good

David Archuletta is an ex American Idol winner, very ‘Joe McEldery’.

I’ve seen this on tour 3 times now (cos or course I have!) and I still love it! Linzi Hateley playing the narrator continues to be a masterclass in musical theatre! She’s so energetic I don’t know how she does it! Absolutely amazing. Jac is also really great! Just 2 hours of fun! I’m going to Linzi’s last 2 shows in Bristol, never done double before, 2 shows in one day and also never been to Bristol before so looking forward to it!

If you go by car College Green car park is the closest good size surface car park to the Hippodrome and we've always managed to get in there. The railway station is a mile or so away but a pleasant walk if you follow the river. I don't drive but Bristol is my partner's least favourite theatre city to visit by car. Lots of one way systems and very easy to go round in circles, satnav definitely recommended

I can highly recommend the wrap/kebab shop on the corner of Denmark St & St Augustines Parade (about 3 doors down from the Hipp) Always seems to be just one guy working at his own speed but his chicken & halloumi wrap hit the spot. Or Bambalam is in whatever ‘Colston Tower’ is called now if you fancy something overpriced but local. I second College Green car park if you’re driving.

This is exactly the kind of post I appreciate… even as someone who works a lot in London it can be hard to find good places avoiding the tourist trap.

Thanks that’s ace! I looked at trains and they all seemed to be a pain, lots of changes etc so I’ve decided to drive. I also decided to book for the evening as well as the matinee! Never done the double before! I’ve booked a hotel in Clevedon which is about half an hour out. Looks lovely by the sea, so I’m going to drive down crack of Dawn Saturday morning, check in, drive into Bristol and do the 2 shows then the. Next day beach, quick look at Bristol and meander back up north! Never been to Bristol before so looking forward to it

Clevedon is just down the road from me in Weston, and is a bit of a funny place. It has a beautiful pier (featured in 1D’s ‘You & I’ video) a big Lidl, a tesco and a few pubs. It was the main setting for the first series of Broadchurch. It’ll take you about half an hour from Bristol. There isn’t really a beach in Clevedon, more a ‘seafront’. Are you going to the last night of Joseph did you say? In which case the holiday traffic should have eased if its mid September, rather than the usual M5 car park we have to endure every Summer. Just give me a shout for any more info x

I’m hoping to book to see Linzi in Bristol in a few weeks time… I don’t suppose anyone knows if she has a certain day / performance off each week? I was planning on going on a Monday eve 😊

I’ve booked a room with a sea view so I think I’ll be chilling in bed watching the sea in the morning maybe a brunch and a walk then straight back up the M5, calling in with friends in Hereford on the way back to Stoke!

When I went recently the 7:30 show ended at 9:17 but that included the megamix which is a good 5 minutes
Also I think atg have got quite good with accepting returns since covid so it’s worth a try

I did already try to return another show and they were fairly adamant, saying it’s non-refundable despite being certain I’d returned tickets recently. If that’s the timing though, I’ll keep them, or dash out before the megamix! Thank you!!

We absolutely loved this in a packed Bristol Hippodrome tonight. It looked so much better than the Palladium, partly because of the (new) shimmery space surround, and the actual staging being sharper, props working etc. we were front row, and the MD was as much a part of the show as those on stage. So much energy and clearly adored by the younger band members. This was perfect Saturday night fayre; seeing people really enjoying their work. Linzi & Jac were both fab, Jason was Jason. Its time that Jac did something else now though. He’s far too good for this.

I thought the last Palladium production looked cheap though I don’t think anything could top the set of the original Jason Donovan / Linzi production. That production ended up on Broadway with soap star Michael Damien and Kelli Rabke

5 min stop just after the cook dream then restarted with three mins of go go go and then the interval which got a bemused reaction.
Revamped since I saw the Sheridan version pre COVID but seems more padded out than ever. Sound a bit odd as very much coming from the sides rather than Central.
