This was nicer than the Criterion system but not as nice as others (as has been mentioned). We have to remember that the systems simply weren’t originally designed for these rules. It took me back to the good old days. Opening the site on 3 devices and choosing the best one seat of those offered!

Saw it tonight and I liked it, mostly due to my love of the film, but couldn’t honestly say I loved it: I wasn’t mad about the score (the Elton John bit was all that really stands out after apart from the odd bit of accordion in tribute to the Yann Tiersen score) but I liked the puppets (and the figs)
I liked the couple playing Amelie and Nino too (no programmes so I don’t know their names), I’ve only seen the film two or three times but I kind of have Audrey Tautou and Mathieu Kassovitz ingrained into my psyche in these roles so it took me ages to get involved in their story. It could have done with at least 20 minutes chopped off the running time too , by the time it gets to the end and the protagonists sing yet another drawn out song rather than just meeting it gets to be a bit of an endurance test..
I wish the company well with this but I don’t know how much of a draw it will be to the more casual punters.

Performances tonight and tomorrow cancelled in addition to the matinee cancellation announced earlier. I don't understand how they think they might be back on Tuesday. If the Heathers tour have had to cancel all next week's performances in Liverpool from one positive case, surely Amelie is out of action for all of next week too?

Well Anything Goes has only been down for 3 days and is set to come back tomorrow, and the isolation rules change on Monday, I have no doubt that they will do everything above board but I'm also not quite sure how its working. I'm assuming the cast are one "bubble" and backstage crew are another? So many it depends who gets it where and how they can cover it.

They wear masks and stay 2m apart from the cast as much as possible and no close contact for a cumulative 15 minutes per person... not that hard.

You clearly don’t work in theatre! Ok then, do you maybe have some more insight and information as to how some shows have to close for 10 days but these two shows (Anything Goes and Amelie) are able to just close for a couple days then? Not being rude I'm genuinely curious!

No insider theatre knowledge, but based on the last several months dealing with lateral flow results in school ...
I assume that when a show goes down announcing only a few performances, they've had a positive lateral flow test and are waiting for the PCR to confirm a positive case. The last thing they want is to cancel the next ten days of performances and then it turn out that they didn't need to after all if the PCR comes back negative.
Heathers initially said this weekend then that changed quickly to the whole of next week - presumably the PCR came back positive. Anything Goes did the same thing but are now expecting to be back on - I assume that PCR came back negative then.

Not sure about the circumstances for the Heathers tour but that is out of action for ten days. It doesn't make much sense why different rules seem to apply to what appear to be the same circumstances.

Not sure how that works if they've had a positive PCR then. I agree, it doesn't make much sense!

It doesn't make much sense why different rules seem to apply to what appear to be the same circumstances. Thee rules apply the same, it is about available personal and the rule change. From tomorrow double vaccinated people don't have to self isolate if they come into contact with someone who has tested positive, which means people who share dressing rooms etc aren't taken out in a lump. But you still need to cover the missing cast member/crew member/band member, and if you lose more than a couple at the same time the knock on effect can mean 10 days until you have enough people back in to restart performances. So basically Amelie's case has has sufficient cover available that they can continue with the member of the company, but Heathers on this occasion doesn't.

Pew show announcement from the director(?) tonight explaining how they were able to reopen so early. Basically 80% new backstage crew working on the show this week while the rest of them isolate. (that was the gist from what i could understand from his rambling)

Perfect. Got the front row stalls at the matinee for £35 on the day I'm seeing Anything Goes in the evening. Exactly what I wanted. Thanks very much.

Apparently Ruthie Henshall might of gave away that this is heading back out on tour again at WEL? I wasn't there so I can't say for sure, or that she misspoke. Anyone? X

X It was teased weeks back in the show's closing announcement. Given most of the existing cast are in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, it probably won't be til mid-2022 at the earliest!
