Yeah but he knows the words..to both..I expect. 😁 It does likely mean no West End Transfer for R-II though. I wonder why SR-B and the director had to take this production to the Almeida - NT, Young Vic and RSC didn’t want it ? But do Shakespeares ever transfer from one London theatre to another? You get the odd one (well, McKellen's Lear) coming up from Chichester, but that's about it. The RSC ones don't count as those transfers are built-in.

Hamlet transferred from the Almeida to the West End, so there's precedent.

Forgive my ignorance, why would that mean no West End transfer? Tiredness? Because I assume he’s signed up for a significant Broadway run and transferring R-II after that’s finished would probably require extensive re-casting. Not impossible but unlikely.

Memory might be failing me, but I thought Lehman Trilogy was only going to NY for about 6 weeks?

NT Live e-mail reports RII will be screened on the 15th Jan, does not look like a transfer is being considered.

It was always strange that SR-B had never played Richard II as he seems perfect for it - now he seems possibly a bit old for the part but let's see. The Trump one sounds like it will go down well in Islington and continues London subsidised theatre's obsession with all things American. Why another "version" of Three Sisters ? The original is good enough. For me the most interesting one is the Vassa production - the NT have an adaptation in the works too but the Almeida have beaten them to it. Did you see the production in i think 2000 also by the Almeida? It was part of their WE residence. Good cast, Tennant, Duff, O'Sullivan, Hancock. Neil, Hilary, Ronnie & Tony?

Just on a tangent, I saw Withnail for the first time only a couple of years ago and was very disappointed in it, one of those cult films that have not stood the test of time for those who didn’t see them at the time in context. I had a similar reaction to the stupendously tiresome Blues Brothers which I saw long after it had achieved cult status. I'm not convinced that Withnail needed to be watched at the time to be appreciated; after all, it's well loved by uni students who would've been very young when it came out. My feeling is that it needs to be watched at the right moment in life; if you watch it when your life is relatively settled it will probably click less than if you watch it around your teens/twenties. I think you probably need to be in a phase of your life that includes heavy drinking. I saw it as a teetotal student and only found it mildly diverting.

Having had time to flick through the map for RII it looks like the auditorium is going to be much narrower than usual. No side blocks and at least 2 seats missing off the ends of each row in the centre block of the stalls. Wonder what is planned. [bre] Rubbish, so more scramble for less seats then?

I think in the past they’ve done this when the side blocks are kept off sale until they work out sight lines

Could also explain £10 increase in price for a Zone A ticket.

This is not looking wonderful for booking period whilst trying to appear as if working whilst in an inspection, I tell myself they're screening it but I'm not really buying it.

Was expecting far more trouble there this morning - got the date and time and cheap seat I wanted, so happy:) Even though I'd forgotten to clock watch to get in absolutely on the opening bell...

After the Old Vic and All About Eve issues last week this was as easy as anything. Only one production I know but a small theatre and a box office draw in the lead could make it difficult.

I guess just opening booking for the one production helped - but I was very surprised: I got in the queue at 9:45 and when it opened I was at number 75 in the queue and got in a few minutes later. I remember the days when Almeida booking was a full-day nightmare before they upgraded their booking system!
And right now there's no queue and lots of tickets left.

Right. No big problem. Front row of circle still available on the date I wanted. Strange as we’ve been told here the entire house was available for booking by members.

Yes, easy booking - maybe being over Christmas means it's not such a scrum? After last year's transport / weather issues I'm wary so booked a £10 seat in case I can't make it. Virgin haven't published their winter timetables yet and I was warned that the HS2 stuff means potential disruption.
