Posting here as well as General: Legal Update per The Stage: she's settled with Birmingham Hippodrome and still pursuing Curve. Legal Update per The StageThey say they've settled with Birmingham Hippodrome, I bet all that happened was they dropped their case against the Hippodrome. To make them sound like they got a concession of sorts. Christian Concern is a sham organisation, if you look in to it. Her father and some dodgy lawyer are basically it.

Didn't they co-produce it? So how can she drop it against one theatre but still be pursuing it with another? That seems unfair on Curve. I mean neither actually have a case to answer, cleary, we all i'm sure feel that, but surely both theatres share equal ownership of the decision.

Following on from the win at the WOS Awards the CEO of Curve was on the radio and said that it's not the last we've seen of the production....so hopefully we'll see it again soon.

T'shan and Danielle return with the remaining cast to be announced.

I'm sure they will announce this via their official channels a bit later.
I wonder if this will be a more traditional concert staging or they will try to spice it up again like Sunset? It's not Nikolai directing this one so my thoughts is it might be a more standard concert stream, but either way, it's very exciting to see the show again and great that Carly is joining as Shug.
A shame of course that it had to move online in the first place but better than not being able to see it at all.

Tickets now on sale via the website priced at £20. The streaming times for this follow a more traditional performance schedule than the 3 times a day for Sunset.

I don't really understand the concept of streaming at the same time as an in-person show when something isn't being performed live.
I can't always guarantee I will be finished work by 7.30pm, especially these days, so my options for viewing this are much more limited than if you could pay for a stream you could access for 7 or 14 days, like Showstoppers did. At least Sunset offered multiple start times.

At least Sunset offered multiple start times. There are some varied times across the run. Some start at 8.30pm, some at 1pm some on a Sunday afternoon for example. So there are some out of hours times for those who need a bit more flexibility. I agree thought it would be better to have an on demand system but I'm sure there are reasons why that isn't the case.

Behind the scenes video about the making of the show with many clips. I have to say this looks really quite stunning.
Starts streaming tomorrow for anyone still interested in watching.

I loved this this evening. I’d forgotten how gorgeous the score is and I loved the way this was staged in The Curve. Great performances all round. If I had a few tears at the end of Act One, I could probably be described as a blubbing mess in the last 20-odd minutes of Act Two!

Bought my ticket to watch it over the weekend. Remember when it was on Broadway but was never intrigued then, but having only got round to watching the film not so long ago (!), I am definitely keen to try this one out.
Separately, glad the ET came to the right decision regarding the actor who was to play Celie.

Wow, this was brilliant this evening!
Had never heard the score and only seen the film version, I was bowled over by this powerful piece.
The Curve are once again taking the medium of streamed theatre to a strong level, I can’t wait to be back in one but for now at this high quality I can cope.
This is moving & powerful, get a ticket!!

I've booked a ticket based on the recommendations here and a desire to support given the recent goings on. Very much looking forward to it as it'll be the first thing I've seen since the Talking Heads in October, although it may as well have been October 2015 for how long ago it feels!
Is this streamed through a website? What I'm really asking is will I be able to easily cast it to the tv?! I had all sorts of problems with the Old Vic Zoom stuff. Very happy to watch on the laptop but would be a more communal experience if I could put it on for my housemates too. Thanks in advance!

The great thing is here that there’s a link to booktixlive- you can just navigate to it on the TV web (mine is Amazon Silk) & then from there you enter the code & you can easily watch on the big screen!! Yes had a nightmare with Zoom & Old Vic as had to mirror from my phone to TV so was a little grainy but no problem here, watched in HD!!!

I loved this on Tuesday night. I was unsure how they were going to live up to Sunset but it really did, even though it was not done in quite the same way and used only the stage primarily but I think that worked for this piece as it's far more intimate and that really came through with how it was shot and confined to the central stage.
I think to call both Sunset and this "concerts" is a bit of an injustice really because this felt nothing like a concert, at times it was hard to notice the social distancing because the stage was so full of choreography and group scenes. It felt like a complete show. The lack of set really didn't bother and the use of lighting and projection really set the tone and setting perfectly. The lighting really has been a highlight for both streamed productions.
The cast were exceptional. Look T'Shan doesn't sing it like Cynthia, but there is something so much more raw about her performing those songs because it feels led by emotion rather than about making it note perfect and I think especially in the 2nd act the character embodiment is stunning. Danielle Fiamanya is a star. A pure star. I said this the first time I saw her and it was even more evident in this and I think people will end up knocking down the doors to see her Elsa.
The final 20 minutes I was practically in tears the whole time and when they all came together to sing The Color Purple at the end there, with pretty much the whole cast in tears themselves, it sent me. It's something not to forget.
The biggest thing for me here is that Curve is my local and to see if put on these levels of streamed content, to see it get so much positivity in the responses to them, to see people who never saw anything from there for whatever reason or for people who never took notice of it or looked down on it, because it felt like that sometimes in the past, actually see what it's capable of, for me it's proud moment.

I personally would love to know how much money they made from this.
Perhaps this is the future way of theatre?
I did smile at the Palladium show on BBC the other week. I thought the six performance in the auditorium dress circle was so stolen from the Sunset format.
May it long continue!!!! Amazing

Amazing Sunset was streamed by 15,000 viewers so at £20 a time that’s £300k gross. I couldn’t begin to guess what the production costs would be though.

Slightly odd, that reads like a pretty unenthusiastic two star review but it got four stars.

I got from it they didnt really like the musical itself that much but liked the production, if that makes sense. A few other reviews are the same, picking fault with the score and book/pacing but praising the cast and how it was done. I can't say I understand it cus for me TCP is one of my fave musicals and scores so I'm at a loss but each to their own.

I'm surprised critics were unenthusiastic about the score, I don't think there's many weak songs in the show but I'll agree that I think the book is uneven and has pacing issues, I didn't feel I got a full understanding of most of the characters when I saw it and for such an expansive story I think it should be longer and leave a little more time to breathe.

I was really looking forward to seeing this tonight, but my broadband has been down for hours. Thankfully the nice people at the Curve have changed my ticket for tomorrow. Now I’m just realising how frustrating having no Internet (and a poor mobile signal) is. Will be an early night!
