On reflection, it's likely that any compromise agreement they'd have offered her included a gagging clause, and that she won't be making any public statement at all.

The statement on that site has not done her any favours and probably made it worse for her, if thats possible.
If i was her I would want a staement from them clarifying that she hadn't said anything at all.

f***ing joke. Whilst Omooba has not played this very well, in any way, a "satirical" post (which by my definition, this absolutely is not) of this nature has potential for a whole lot more damage. It seems the only intention really was to get peoples attention and visits to the site, mission accomplished, with the whole situation exacerbated. Poor poor "journalism".

Indeed Baemax did break the story 3 hours ago, that she has been dropped by her talent agent.
Just now hope she enjoys waitressing.

Bernard Dayo's fake news/bad satire (what's the target of this pathetic "satire?") article is totally irresponsible, making life harder for someone already under more pressure than most could bear. I hate for one young person, still trying to get her thoughts together over a post she made 4 years ago, who has already lost a great job, to have to further bear the full weight of two millennium's prejudice and brainwashing, as if she made it up herself. After all, Ann Widdecombe (who can have her rib back), much older and supposedly much wiser, spent a whole career putting the full weight of Parliament and the law behind these exact same prejudices, she remains immovably recalcitrant in those views, and yet she is a beloved figure, celebrated for her turn on Strictly, and who still does panto quite happily. Seyi Omooba has suffered enough, in my view, assuming she does not allow herself to become a spokesperson for intolerance.

Seyi Omooba has suffered enough, in my view, assuming she does not allow herself to become a spokesperson for intolerance. The real suffering is being brainwashed like that and having struggles with any situation in the real world. She has already made a public statement about her views on being homosexual versus being christian and has shown that what she thinks is natural and congenital is the actual opposite from reality. I don't think a website repeating that given (even though not funny) is that big of a deal in the end. One can expect ridicule when making statements like this. We don't know why she doesn't make public statements about the case, it could very well be that she's not allowed to. It seems likely that she stands by her statements herself too, otherwise she would have explained herself after the tweet went viral. But, aside from this case, the suffering stays for as long as she doesn't understand the situation. This is not just about losing a job or an agent, this is about losing life. Real life passes her by. Life is so very much above religion, it really can't be put into words. Every thought or judgement should be based on life experience. There are so many sides to every subject. There are 4200 religions in the world. Choosing 1 is too limiting for words. Life starts where religion ends.

I agree. And while I understand why she tweeted to say that the article was fake that’s now opened up an opportunity for people reply with further demands for a statement from her. She owes no-one a statement. What’s happened and how she’s dealt with it demonstrates what her current beliefs are more than sufficiently. She obviously hasn’t changed her mind so what is there to say? If I was her I’d disappear for a bit. Get off twitter and do her own thing, whatever that is. She probably thinks she’s done nothing wrong so doesn’t feel inclined to do that but really, someone should have a word with her even if it’s only someone in her own family.

I think you can have some empathy towards the fact that she's currently on the receiving end of a lot of negative feeling but without letting her off the hook for her words and her actions. The current national conversation makes it very clear that homophobia isn't some outdated viewpoint that's only held by a negligible minority and basically obsolete so doesn't really harm anyone, people are still very publicly and unabashedly using their bigoted opinions to justify actively damaging behaviour. The fight is nowhere NEAR over.

I think not everyone has to like everyone. It's perfectly fine if someone does not like me being gay. As long as that person gives me a good reason. For example "It scares me", or "I'm new to it and clueless", or "I'm not comfortable enough with my own sexuality and think you might hit on me" or "I have bad experiences, like this or that". That's all short-sighted, but fair and sincere.
But "Because my god says so" is not a reason. It's hypocritical.
It comes down to the difference between real life and religion.

I don't have much sympathy for someone who chose to be an open bigot
I thought that fake statement from her was out of order though by the guy who wrote it. Its one thing to take the piss, but it doesn't read as a joke but her reaffirming her homophobia falsely.
She probably still thinks the same things ( and the fact she hasn't made a statement going against her previous beliefs make it obvious she does).

She turned @ryan and I straight and we’ve seen the error of our ways...and will be married immediately. Oh wait. We’re all still a bunch of flaming Queers around here and no daughter-of-preacher-man is going to tell us different.

Wow, that is totally irresponsible and just wrong. The article was not "clearly satirical" at all given the people who took it as read. Whatever's happened, you can't put those words in her mouth when we don't know what was agreed or decided, or what her actual current beliefs are now. As someone else has said in this thread, she's probably settled with the theatre regarding her removal and that would no doubt include her staying silent on all this.

I’m sure the father is backing her up 100%. But there must be someone else. I am sure she will be backed 100% by the Sunday Morning all Stars Pantomime. When their is high profile case the church seems to pull together to reward these god fearing people, thinking of the Bed and Breakfast owner and the cake bakers in Northern Ireland,

Global Artists must have an interesting story if they have decided to drop her. She is still listed as being represented by them on the Spotlight website at the moment. I agree about that so-called 'satirical' article. It's deeply irresponsible: actually it looks as if the website have now removed it.

I've been drafted in to play Celie. Sierra Boggess put in a good word for me. I'll be on book for the first few shows but then I'll be OK. I'll be the new Cynthia Erivo. I'll be on Twitter next. We’re all still a bunch of flaming Queers around here and no daughter-of-preacher-man is going to tell us different. I'm OK with that (I look good in white) but I can still play around with the mens though right?

I wonder is there is a rewrite of Son of a Preacher Man possible about her or a duet of Breakfast in Bed with the B and B couple who wouldn't let the gay couple stay at their establishment. Ironic that Dusty was one of the very first major female performers to come out as gay.

Unfortunately the church and homophobia go hand in hand, wish there were more Christians like James O’Brien who is a devout Catholic and is completely not homophobic. Always surprise me the amount of people who identify with going to church and I also racist, you know the pearl clutching middle class racist bit like Theresa May, or the devout Catholic Jacob Rees Mogg who also thinks that food banks are funny!!!
