I recall a few years back on Broadway Maria Eberline (Griffin?) sustained an injury whilst working at Wicked and was on sick for a while. I remember reading she was still listed as a cast member for months after due to legalalities relating to a lawsuit against Wicked for the injury.
Only speculative but maybe Sarah's injury was sustained whilst working on the show and a similar situation has played out?

Realistically, what injuries can she sustain when all she does in the show is sit? Unless she fell out of the chair hard when those shoes came to life, or tripped at curtain call. I imagine soemthing either happened backstage or in her personal life.

When you think of the amount of Elphabi who have fallen down the stairs when on "duty", anything is possible...

I feel sorry for Rosa because she can't even really list it as a full time credit on her CV.
The show had its 9 millionth customer at the weekend, they passed the 8 million mark only last February. Given that it's in its 12th year that must mean there are more customers now than ever before?

You gotta consider if Wicked was in a regular sized house it would be close to or sold out every performance. It only has to sell, if I remember correctly, around 1000 seats a performance to be well and good. Its fine.

Rosa taking over as Nessa doesn't make up for the fact she's gone uncredited all year. Nice to see they were predictable as ever though, I knew Alice and Sophie were staying.

Very happy for Rosa! Was hoping for a new Elphaba but maybe I might give Alice a chance if I have time to go next year.

There’s a bit of a reshuffle in the ensemble with a number of people leaving! Hannah Toy isn’t showing in the ensemble listing any longer so I wonder if she’s going completely or just stepping back from the day to day....
Hoping that Alex Grieson gets given a green show before she leaves...

Never thought Hannah Toy would leave - she’s part of the furniture! Also said to see Joseph Fletcher go - apart from that not really bothered - it’s a pretty dull cast change but what do you expect from wicked?

It’s only dull for us, most of the paying public don’t care who they’re seeing. I’m happy Alice is staying, I think she’s a great Elphaba. She shouts some of her lines too much but I do enjoy her portrayal and I’m looking forward to going back to see her again with the new Fiyero.

Sad to see Joseph Fletcher go. Easily the best part of the Ensemble at Wicked. Thrilled to see Rosa get the credit she deserves. Doesn't make up for the past year, but it's something.
Sophie and Alice both staying... it's very Emma and Savannah isn't it.

There is alot of "glad to see Rosa finally getting the credit she deserves" tweets going around, including from Bradley Jaden. Whilst it is completely true and fair, I do wonder how Sarah feels when she sees these tweets?

Interesting Rosa is staying as 2nd cover Glinda. With the way Sophie's immune system handles winter we could be in for an interesting one with covers.

I will give her a second chance, but going into this second year she has to things she has to achieve. Don't become Savannah... looking so bored you may as well be sat on the bubble. Don't become Emma... remember when we got tweets almost every week toward the end where she wasn't on. She may as well of had an alternate. #DontBeLikeEmma

Kerry looks like she is switching roles I’m gonna guess it was just a mistake on her agent’s part, it would be bizarre to switch after 5 years, although would make sense if she wants a less taxing role now she’s got a child to look after. I wrongly assumed Meg Astin was 2nd u/s Morrible, I’m now thinking it’s more likely to be Genevieve Taylor (who looks like an emalgamation of Jackie Hughes and Kerry Enright, so I’m thinking she’s either the new Midwife or Kerry’s Shen Shen replacement).

It would be nice if she could come back for a final few shows to finish her contract in style.

You could argue that Midwife is a bigger role than ShenShen! At least it’s a title role so could be seen as a promotion...

It's definitely seen as a promotion as it is a credited role.
Wicked held auditions for a new Elphaba for this contract and several very talented big theatre names went in for it! Not sure if Alice was unsure she was staying or if they were just keeping their options open.

Not sure if Alice was unsure she was staying or if they were just keeping their options open. Do you have any inside info about who may have auditioned? I think they do that for every cast, the casting call they put out always has breakdowns for every role in it, even in years where all of the leads and covers for a role have stayed.

From the press release:
'Rosa O’Reilly (Nessarose) originally joined the London cast of WICKED in August 2016 and has already played the role of ‘Nessarose’ on many occasions'
'On many occasions' ... that's one way to put it! 😂🙈

Does anyone remember the actual date Sarah first left and Rosa took over? She obviously joined at the very end of January 2017, and she left before cast change 2017 as Rosa went on for Willemijn, Suzie and Oliver's final performance.
