I'm actually very annoyed that both the tour and London are getting actors known on the basis of their time in eastenders, especially with how little I like Aaron Sidwell as Fiyero. I'll naturally give him a chance but I really did want another treat after Oliver Savile and Bradley Jaden. I actually really like Aaron, but I agree that we deserve an Oliver Savile. He was the perfect Fiyero. Interesting that so many of London / the tour's Fiyeros have come from soaps or boy bands. Let's hope this ex soap star won't get photographed in the Daily Mail having an affair with Glinda

We were due casting news anyway but was this a) leaked out like Aaron was forcing them to announce just Fiyero now or b) means that all the other leads are staying (inc Sarah Mc?!)

Hmm, the fact they've announced a new Fiyero but nothing else could imply Elphaba and Glinda will remain the same. Sophie is staying (strongly confirmed source) and there were comments here a few pages back that Alice was aswell!

The press release on the Wicked site says 'Further casting to be announced'. So that implied it could have being threatened with a leak.

They’ve got a full video introducing David up on youtube like the Alice and Sophie one last year so I guess that would pretty much stamp out the possibility of a new Elphaba or Glinda altogether, I doubt they’d do two seperate videos.

Yeah agree, knowing Sophie is staying I’d imagine Alice would stay too. Although I guess they could do a single video for an Elphaba “there’s a new witch in Oz” kind of promotion...

Erm... so we’re getting the hottest Fiyero since Kyle Dean Massey?!!
Is it really shallow that this is making me want to book tickets?

I feel the ‘further casting to be announced’ is referring to the ensemble rather than any of the other leads. Personally I’d rather it was all in one announcement but that’s just the way it is I guess. Aaron was only announced first because it had already been leaked, I highly doubt they’re just going to start announcing the Fiyero’s first even if other ‘leads’ are changing. As for them both being in Eastenders I can’t say that bothers me at all, as long as they can sing and act well and haven’t just been cast because people will recognise them from that show then I don’t see the issue with it.

Apparently it's his West end debut.
Has he done any shows before does anyone know or does being from the telly mean you don't have to these days?
(I echo the murmers he is not bad to look at though....)

(I echo the murmers he is not bad to look at though....) Hairspray the Curve. Trained with the National Youth Music Theatre. Says on the Wicked video had always planned to do musical theatre, but television roles came along first.

(I echo the murmers he is not bad to look at though....) He was Link in Hairspray at the curve apparently. I won’t lie, I watched Eastenders when he was in it and I wasn’t blown away by his acting. I dont really see this as a stunt casting though because it’s been a few years since he was in it and he wasn’t a memorable character... im looking forward to seeing him in Wicked anyway.

I was kind of hoping for Aaron Sidwell. I don’t know about his turn as Fiyero on tour, but his comic timing in Cool Rider and American Idiot was fantastic.

Well, hel- lo David Witts. I saw him as Link in the Curve production of hairspray (the original not the tour) and he was pretty good in that. I don't recall him being vocally outstanding like Bradley but that doesn't seem a concern for most castings of Fiyero so. Nobody wants Fiyero to be able to sing. He needs to fill out a pair of jodhpurs and look hot. That's all that's required. Jodhpurs. Hot.

Looking into tickets for Bradley's last show and the most expensive ticket is £202.25. I actually feel sick at how much they're charging. I'll just get one at £25 cause I don't want to be in the dayseat queue for that show, I don't fancy showing up a week early.

I saw David Witts in Hairspray, and he was definitely one of the better Links I've seen - he has a fine voice and acted the role well. The only other comment I can make in relation to David is that he will definitely fill out a pair of jodhpurs.

Hmmm don’t know the ins and the outs of equity law but I am self employed so know a fair bit about that and whilst I think they would have had to at least offer her to stay, I can’t imagine there is a law saying they have to keep her. She’s self employed after all.

Maria might not want to stay so they would have to get someone else in to replace her.

Maria might not want to stay so they would have to get someone else in to replace her. My guessing is that Maria will stay as she will be contracted for a year to cover Carina’s maternity? So her contract will run October-October rather than to cast change?

Apparently it's his West end debut. Has he done any shows before does anyone know or does being from the telly mean you don't have to these days? (I echo the murmers he is not bad to look at though....) He was in Hairspray at the Leicester Curve as Link Larkin, but I'm not sure if he's done any other theatre besides that. To be honest, they probably hired him because he was in EastEnders but "Joey Branning off EastEnders!" is hardly stunt casting, so I hope he'll do a good job.

TeamDWitts and Team_DWitts already both taken. Not sure if Wicked fans or EastEnders fans but if they're Wicked fans, they must be the most shallow and self-absorbed (oh look a Wicked reference) people ever!

Teamdwitts seem to be a little confusified as much of their timeline seems to be about Cheryl Tweedy.
Perhaps she is our new Morrible?!
