I only saw Melanie in Breakfast at Tiffanys, and she was hilarious, the highlight of the show (which isn't saying much, but she was great!).

Further to what's already been said upthread (is that a word?), Matt Parsons is our new 2nd u/s Fiyero, Nicholas Corre our new 1st u/s Boq and Danny Michaels our new 2nd u/s Boq. At a guess I would say that Tom Andrew Hargreaves is the new 1st u/s Fiyero and James McHugh the new 2nd u/s Doctor Dillamond but I don't know either of these for sure.

Sophie doesn't look like she has a funny bone in her body. She has a lovely voice from what I remember but I really can't imagine her bringing much humour to the role I'm sure she has demonstrated she has in auditions. I doubt the producers are just hoping for the best! 😂 bet they took her because she was in TV once and has enough fans, that seems to be enough demonstration some days

I'm really pleased overall and I'm sticking by my comment a few pages ago... if Alice had been announced as the new lead rather than Standby first of all, no one would be complaining - apart from Alice & Bradley it's a brand new fresh cast!
And Bradley is easily one of my favourite Fieyro's... what. a. voice.

Heres the thing. I have never had an issue with Alice personally, bar a few dodgy audios early in her run and a very dodgy No Good Deed recently, but some of her audios have been good. I will reserve judgedment of her full performance once I have seen her in this role. And as I said recently, I saw her as Fiona in Shrek, and I was a bit dissapointed, so I'm hoping this is alot better a performance she is going to be giving over the next year. Because the last bump up we had, we all know how that went...
I think, like the vast majority of Wicked fans, I just wanted two brand new people in the lead roles. And I agree, if Alice weren't Standby beforehand it probably would be different. But sorry, may be a shallow thought, but with just bump ups and returns since 2010, we needed a new, fresh Elphaba that has never done the role.
That being said, overall I'm happy generally, as it is a majority cast change.

Laura Pitt. Apparently been in Sound Of Music It's Laura Pick. I think you might be confusing her with Laura Pitt-Pulford Side note, it was stupid of me to write "what more could a Wicked fan wish for?" because people were inevitably going to quote it with things that they would rather had happened than this announcement

I'm sure I'll be calling her Laura Pitt accidentally for a long time now, just as Alice was Alice Fearns for the first few months of her run

Dorothy realised that she was actually "Glinda" after all and had the power to take herself back home.

If some of you won the lottery you'd complain about having too much money I swear I for one am thrilled about the cast change news. A brand new Glinda and standby Elphaba, along with an already proven Elphaba and Fiyero to head up an almost otherwise entirely new cast, what more could a Wicked fan wish for? Oh good grief, we're all allowed to have our own opinions! Personally anyone other than someone who's never played Elphaba in her life before would not have excited me - Wicked has been recycling cast members for far, far too long. But my first choice for Elphaba was unavailable anyway as she's going to be in Hamilton, so in a way I don't really care that much. I am intrigued to see Sophie though, so I'm sure I'll dayseat at some point before the weather gets cold!

I just saw a tweet that actually made me laugh aloud... saying I love how Wicked promote within their current Company at cast change. Now, usually I am all game for this kind of thing, but that wasn't the part that made me laugh... they used Emma Hatton as a great example of this. Enough said.

Well for me, Sophie as Glinda overshadows everything else. Somehow I don't care about the rest :-D. Love her! So glad it was confirmed.

If someone is asked to step up and cover a job and they get stuck in and give it some for a long period of time then they should get rewarded for that. She's not one of my favourites but the producers did the right thing there.

My wish came true! I've been nonstop crying of happiness for the past few hours! So well deserved! I can't wait for you all to see Alice, she's phenomenal! I'm also so happy that Carina is staying and that Bradley is joining! I've heard so many great things about him! I'm also excited for Alex, Rosa & Claudia to get their scheduled show as Elphaba, Glinda & Morrible!

How old is Alice? I mean no intended disrespect to her, but she does look a fair few years older than Sophie... She'll turn 34 this year.

Good shout for her in Evita though, shes brilliant in that!

Well at least you like her in Evita Oh she has talent lurking under there, and I knew she would! Just she really wasn't, for me and many others, a good fit for Elphaba. And I'm glad she is now in a role she could prove herself properly!
I hope Alice does prove herself, considering she was a disappointment in Shrek.
