I booked my ticket to School of Rock thru Seetickets when they released additional seats in the Stalls a couple of weeks ago, for a preview performance in November. The charge stayed on pending for 10 days on my credit card and then disappeared altogether. I have not been charged and I have not received the ticket. Does anyone know if that is normal practice for Seetickets?

When I booked with them for this, they ended up changing me twice and I got two sets of tickets, even though I only booked the once. The customer service was very good though and they refunded it no problem.

This is getting silly now.
Who is playing Dewey?!
When a show fresh from Broadway has slipped to the 3rd page on a dedicated musicals chat board something's going badly wrong with the launch.

I think we will find out in the next week or so. It has to be announced by the end of the month surely? Preferably the casting of Rosalie too.

I should hope so, I feel like we've been waiting for ages now. Every day for the last few weeks I've half expected an announcement.

Christopher Biggins?!!
Seriously? I suppose he could 'do a Schofield', but really...

Killian Donnelly asked at stage door last night if he's doing School of Rock and he replies to the girl with 'sshhhhhh'... not exactly the most concrete of evidence but if he wasn't, you would think he would say no. No idea how this would fit around the show in Ireland he has been cast in ? personally I don't see him fitting the role of Dewey to be honest!

Oh. Just watched a couple of YouTube clips of KD doing American standards. Not convinced by the soulfulness, high notes Or American accent. Won't bother with SOR if this is the casting. Just can't see someone wispy in the part. Guess I shouldn't have watched - and got used to - Alex Brightman in the role.
I think this is feeling like a surprising 'defeat from the jaws of victory' situation for this transfer. Not due to this casting conjecture, but a general lack of clarity in launching the show.

I wouldn't be surprised if Killian was just having a joke with fans.

Agreed, it possibly was.
I guess I should stop posting, as they've worn out any enthusiasm I had. NYC had a great narrative re the innovative Gramercy public workshop, and Alex's 'workshop deviser gets the role' story. London has nothing yet.

Personally, I think Killian would be a good choice for Dewey. Anyone knows if he can play the guitar?
My favourite would be Nathan Amzi, but we don't know if Disney allow him to leave Aladdin prematurely. I'd also like to see Oliver Tompsett, or maybe Ross Hunter?
Simon Lipkin would be great for the comic part of the role, but I'm not sure if his voice is strong enough.

I'm not sure whether this is the case as I've not seen a breakdown for the role, but I'd bet that the role requires a chubby actor, very much in keeping with the film and original casting of Alex Brightman. Even though he has lost a considerable amount of weight as a result of the show, he was quite chubby when he began and still has a bit of meat on him now! Guessing it would be quite a hard show to recast, given that a chubby male with a rock tenor voice and can (probably) play the guitar is quite a specific casting! But the image of Jack Black in this role is so vivid, and it probably goes with the 'lazy slob, average-joe American' (no offence intended!!) image of the character. I guess that's why Elder Cunningham in Mormon, for example, began casting thinner males to play the role as a geek/on the spectrum and they had the scope to change that characteristic - even if it meant a slight, small lyric change! I don't think there's any way they would go down the route of a tall and slim Oliver Tompsett or even a stocky Simon Lipkin. Or even an average-built Killian Donnelly. Happy to be proven wrong, however! Simon without a doubt has the comedy chops for it.

I thought that Ian McIntosh might have been good if not, but I agree with you for the most part theatremadness. But I'm still holding out for Alex Btightman (against all the odds😉)

Yep, I guess the biggest problem is that we all see Jack Black in our mind's eye when thinking of Dewey. But I don't think that chubby is a requirement. Blowsy, scruffy and lazy come to mind - and being a loser. I guess that's why Elder Cunningham in Mormon, for example, began casting thinner males to play the role as a geek/on the spectrum and they had the scope to change that characteristic - even if it meant a slight, small lyric change! I think the only requirement for Cunningham is that he is different to all the other Mormons and not a carbon copy of the Mormon poster boy, i.e. tall or short, chubby or a geek/nerd. I don't think there's any way they would go down the route of a tall and slim Oliver Tompsett or even a stocky Simon Lipkin. Or even an average-built Killian Donnelly. Happy to be proven wrong, however! Simon without a doubt has the comedy chops for it. Do you have any possible Deweys in mind, apart from Nathan Amzi?

Anyone but Killian Donnelly. Sings well, but got the personality of a mouse pad. You need someone instantly likable, naturally funny and vivacious for this role. Honestly I'd rather someone relatively unknown like Alex, but also like Alex, was a working actor, has good experience under his belt but did not get a huge breakthrough role yet.

Is there a date when they announce the cast? Previews start on 24th October. Assuming one month of rehearsals, I'd say end of September at the latest. But yes, it's somehow odd that they haven't announced at least the leads (Dewey and Ms Mullins) yet.

There are definitely comments about him being unattractive or a slob. (Which I find weird when Will Blum is adorable, but otherwise he's so good. ) Like Cunningham, it might help that Dewey stands out among all the uptight, slim and prim school staff and parents by being a larger guy, but it's not a requirement.

Michael Ball as Dewey and Lisa Riley as Miss Mullins. The children to be played by adults with shoes on their knees (like the prince in Shrek, and Charlie's Oompah Loompas) and showing their amazing musical skills on kazoos. Right - casting done! Now let's move in with our lives.

I heard on the grapevine a possibility that Killian would be going to Broadway... Maybe for Kinky or are they taking Commitments there? Which would rule him out. I still think they'll be opening with an American (not Alex but maybe Will Blum or similar alternate for US) and then have Tim Prottey Jones as a cover? maybe go back to Nathan Amzi when they can get him out of Aladdin. Shame I'd much prefer they find a UK name. All feels rather last minute.

Tim definitely auditioned but i've no idea how far he got in the process, but I do agree that I can see him in the role, as a cover more likely, and he just left Kinky Boots. I can see them bringing Alex over to open it, most likely for a short run like 3 months. Afterwards ? who knows, I personally cant see Killian being able to pull off Dewey. I hadn't even considered him going to broadway for Kinky Boots but now that you mentioned it, its a great idea, and if they got Matt to go to after his 2nd year, the advertising would write itself.

Stephen Rahman Hughes - would look OK, great voice, but there is that Aladdin problem again.

I really hope it isn't Tim. I don't know what it is, but I really just can't stand him. Bit harsh. In terms of his deadly falsetto and his rock voice I think he'd be ideal. "Can't stand him" doesn't seem that objective lol. (But who am I to talk...I feel the same about Duncan James!)

There is a bit of a buzz on here on casting - but how popular is this production looking off here?
Also, does it appear that the general interest regarding the show opening in London is based on the success of the film, or the fact that ALW is attached?

It will only be the casting that would excite me enough to pay for this.

With me anyway. Very complacent behaviour from the producers. Then again, if tickets are already selling brilliantly perhaps the casting doesn't matter so much. It's just that it does to me; not even thinking about booking until I know more.

The revival of this thread got me exciting for a second. I thought they'd decided to announce the cast at last. Silly me.
They were clearly trying to ramp up the excitement for SoR at West End Live a few months ago. We had to endure the teaser trailer about 60000 times. Really felt like they were aiming for in-your-face marketing, and I was actually excited for it. But sadly it's pretty much gone silent since then. Shame.
